Headscratchers / Disney Infinity

  • Why wasn't Sally in the Cars play set? As a huge Cars fan, this really upset me, as every single other major character makes an appearance. Even some of the minor ones from Cars 2 that had no lines were at least referenced, at the Cozy Cone (they had their pictures on the doors), yet Sally is never even mentioned! I mean, why bother putting the Cozy Cone in without Sally? What reason could there possibly be for excluding her? It can't be space reasons. If they had space for those stupid little blue cars, why not Sally?
    • She's a Porsche. Disney Interactive would've had to talk to and pay EA to get permission to use their exclusive video game license for the character in the game.
  • We have seen evidence that Zurg and Ferb are playable characters, but neither are anywhere to be seen. Zurg has shown up in countless trailers front and center. Ferb has made brief appearances and has been noted to show up sometime on Twitter (albeit, the tweet got deleted). There are tons of people saying everything that's on the disc is all we're getting and neither character is there. What gives?
    • Apparently, Phineas and Agent P are "early bird previews." The Phineas and Ferb playset has been strongly implied to be a release for Disney Infinity 2 next year. The same goes for Vanellope and Wreck-it-Ralph and the Wreck-it-Ralph playset. Sucks, doesn't it?
    • Phineas and Agent P are by far the worst-selling figures, as they only really got bought by Infinity collectors and P&F fans. Ferb may have been originally planned, but the poor sales probably made Disney decide to scrap it.
  • This game's rated E, right? So why is there a Shout-Out to BioShock Infinite with "Toy Columbia"? Is that such a good idea, to get kids interested in something they aren't old enough to be playing?
    • Because, while the game is kid-friendly, older people might play it too.
    • Apparently, other games like LittleBigPlanet have DLC based on M-rated titles. I guess as long as the parents aren't dumb enough to cave in and buy the M-rated stuff for the youngsters, it should be fine.
  • Why aren't many of the Disney Princesses playable, given that they're Disney's most popular franchise? Belle's horse Phillipe is available in-game, but where is Belle (and for that matter, THE BEAST)?
    • They somewhat remedied that with Anna and Elsa, but I assume the other Disney princesses weren't as offensive-capable. Mulan should've been a no-brainer though.
    • Princess Jasmine from Aladdin is a playable character beginning in 2.0.
      • Mulan is now available for Disney Infinity 3.0.
      • Both Belle and Beast were planned to have figures before the series was cancelled, who were next-in-line after the 3 Alice figurines and to make matters worse: it was the live action remake versions of the two, meaning it would have been the Emma Watson version of Belle (making it the closest to us getting Hermione Granger in a Disney game).
  • The Beast doesn't have a townsperson, but Belle and Gaston do.
  • This seems to be the Elephant in the Living Room, so here goes nothing: why does Disney seem so hesitant to go all-out with this? It has huge potential; instead of sticking to just live action movies from the past three years, why not go back to the animated canon, or even other live action films? It has such potential to be a major Cash-Cow Franchise; why don't they take that chance?
    • Best guess, they don't want to overwhelm their customer base with too many figures and have decided that the most efficient course of action is to release new characters at a steady pace; allowing for some breathing room for themselves as well as anticipation for what they're going to release next. After all, you seem quite excited for the possibility to add new franchises.
    • Let's also not forget that video game and toy stores only have limited shelf space; if they release too many figures at once, stores might have to decide it's just not profitable to make room for them. Because as much as I'd like figure of Cliff Secord, Figment or Roxas, chances are the target demographic has never heard of these characters.
  • Why aren't there any Kingdom Hearts things in Disney Infinity? I'm not saying that there should be figurines of Sora, Riku or Master Xehanort since Square Enix owns those characters (though if they make a Xion figure a pre-order bonus for Kingdom Hearts III I'd be the first in line). But you'd think it would be relatively easy to add a Keyblade, the Skateboard from Kingdom Hearts II, a Gummi Ship, or even Donald's Kingdom Hearts costume as power discs.
    • Actually, Disney owns all the original Kingdom Hearts characters like Sora, Riku, Kairi, etc. So they could do it in theory.
    • You can actually get a Keyblade in the 3.0 version. This, along with the King Mickey costume power disc, shows that Disney is starting to acknowledge the Kingdom Hearts series.
  • Okay, why is it that in advertisements, where we see Marvel characters, Star Wars characters and Disney characters grouped by their own franchises, that Baymax is in the freaking Disney group and not the Marvel group? I understand that Big Hero 6 is an Animated Classics Canon film but Big Hero 6 is really from Marvel. Is Disney that much of a lying thief?
    • Probably because Big Hero 6 is In Name Only, thus more Disney than Marvel. Also, "lying thief" is a bit much...
      • Reason why Hiro and Baymax are classified as Disney Originals rather than Marvel is because had they been a part of the Marvel lineup, the Original line-up would have been outright overwhelmed by the Marvel cast of characters, plus Hiro and Baymax have completely different designs and origins than their Marvel counterparts.
  • Wouldn't it make more sense for Nick Fury to be with the Avengers rather than Spider-Man?
    • It might have something to do with how he's Spider-Man's boss (as Spidey joined S.H.I.E.L.D.) in Ultimate Spider-Man (2012).
      • Another reason was because of the same scenario that made Hiro and Baymax as part of the Disney Originals line-up (2.0 Marvel overshadowing the 2.0 Disney Originals line-up). Had Nick Fury been a part of the Avengers line-up, it would have made the Avengers line-up overshadow the Spider-Man line-up and would have made the latter far smaller overall and thus less rewarding and would have wrecked the playset balance (each Marvel playset has to have at least one range character, Avengers had Black Widow, Guardians of the Galaxy had both Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord (which is balanced by having Rocket be playable in all 3 playsets) and had Nick Fury been on the Avengers line up, Spider-Man would have had no range characters in their line-up at all).
