The Fairy Tail has produced plenty of bad guys, most of whom are sympathetic, hilarious, or too cool to completely hate... and then we have these guys, whose only existed is to earn the hatred of the main cast as well as the audience who desire nothing less than to see them get what’s coming to them.
- Minerva Orland was this throughout the Grand Magic Games arc. She debuts by taking Happy hostage to force Natsu to withdraw from attacking Saber Tooth. She performs a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on Lucy during the Naval Battle event's final phasenote , when she could have teleported her out like she did with Juvia, enraging Lucy's teammates and causing them to declare war on Saber Tooth. She saves Lector from Jiemma (see below), but only to use him to blackmail Sting into fighting at his best and winning the Grand Magic Games. She also further infuriates Erza by taking Erza and Kagura's old friend Millianna hostage to force the two to fight, then running Kagura through and revealing that she'd tortured Millianna. Throughout the arc, no one likes her, but in the Tartaros arc after leaving to join a dark guild, she gets a Freudian Excuse and some measure of redemption.
- Minerva's father and former guildmaster Ziemma is even worse. His first scene has him kick Yukino out of the guild in the most humiliating manner possible, for losing to Kagura while betting her life on the outcome of the duel—she does forgive her guildmates for not standing up for her and accepts Sting's offer to reinstate her, but lists Ziemma in her "dislikes" section. He later plans on doing the same for Sting and Rogue after the two lose to Natsu. When Lector speaks up to defend Sting, Ziemma seemingly kills Lector, not for defying him or even to punish Sting, but because an "animal" (Lector, an Exceed, is actually sapient) has the Saber Tooth guild crest. When Sting nearly kills Ziemma in response, no one, not even his daughter Minerva, cares, and Minerva coldly tells him that he's getting kicked out in accordance with his own rules. It later turns out that he's an Abusive Parent who cruelly raised Minerva to be as cruel as she is.
- Ivan Dreyar and Raven Tail. Not only was Ivan kicked out of Fairy Tail for threatening the safety of its members, leading him to plot revenge on Fairy Tail (to this end, he plans on extracting and selling the lacrima inside his son in spite of the consequences), but his guild blatantly cheats at almost every turn in the first three days of the Grand Magic Games, until they finally get caught, disqualified and banned for three years.
- From Erza's past there are two slavers, Buli and Guli. They forced thousands of captives to build the Tower Of Heaven employed even children (among which, Jellal and Erza) to do this work, starving them almost to death, punishing and killing them over the most insignificant slight; and they weren't above some Cold-Blooded Torture as well - it was because of a particularly brutal beating from them that Erza lost one of her eyes. Killing them both was obviously Jellal's making as a villain, but they deserved it.
- Michello a former member of the Magic Council who has no love or tolerance for Fairy Tail, makes rumblings in the Council to get the guild disbanded once and for all, and does nothing but complain about having to be surrounded by them as bodyguards, except when they save his skin. Even though Fairy Tail is assigned to guard him in the Tartaros arc, the depths he sinks to just to save his own hide doesn't earn him any spot in their good books. When he's on the run from Jackal, he believes that the citizens should sacrifice themselves for him because of his service on the Council over the years. When captured by Jackal, Michello claims to Lucy that letting him live should be the obvious choice over the life of a pregnant woman that’s also being held hostage, Eventually, Natsu gets so fed up with him that he punches him out cold.
- The former chairman of the Magic Council Crawford Theme proves to be even worse. He is revealed to have been the secret informant of Tartaros who told them everything about Face and how to activate it. Selling out the Magic council and Fairy Tail which lead to the deaths of current and former members of the council, drugging Erza and Mira who becoming tortured and experimented on by members of Tartaros, and willing to wipe out magic and sell out all of humanity for wealth and power.
- Erza’s father General Rung is directly responsible for Irene's Start of Darkness. When learning that his wife is slowly turning into a dragon like Acnologia, He preforms Cold-Blooded Torture and public humiliation of Irene even when she was pregnant for three years, followed by his attempt to kill her baby by cutting open her stomach, firmly makes him an irredeemably despicable character whose death was fully deserved.
- From the Movie Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry former Minister of State of Fiore Zash Caine, is a sadistic, perverted, arrogant scumbag, who tortures young women for his magic to work, brainwashes people into slaughtering each other, murdered Gia own men who supported his coup attempt in Fiore and helped get him escape the country when it failed, and attempts to destroy the entire kingdom of Fiore out of vengeance with the Dragon Cry when he betrays King Animus. This man is certainly someone who's not meant to be liked.
- The sequel series, 100 Years Quest, gives us Kiria, a fifth generation Dragon Slayernote who seems to exist for no other reason than to garner as much of the readers' ire as possible. She's a sadist to the core, and claims to be able to cut through anything, including Erza's "strength" - by doing so, she effectively turns Erza into a crying, cowardly wreck, and forces her to beg for her life on her hands and knees. She proceeds to spend the next several chapters thoroughly humiliating Erza, treating her like a literal dog; calling Erza her "pet", tugging her around on a leash, forcing her to eat food from the floor, and splashing water on her, mocking her all the while. Fortunately, this particularly sadistic Mind Rape doesn't last long, thanks to Erza's fake eye, which limits such spells placed on her. Kiria's defeat at Erza's hands during their second fight is immensely cathartic.
