Bridge to Terabithia
  • Bridge to Terabithia 2: The Last Time: Naturally, this applies to Jess Aarons and Leslie Burke, the latter whom got retconned from her alleged death, where after admitting they have feelings for each other in their teens the Distant Epilogue then depicts them as a married couple with two children. One of Jess' last lines is actually him telling his wife: "Leslie Aarons, I love you... and I'm the luckiest man alive."

Crossover

  • Children of Time (Doctor Who & Sherlock Holmes):
    • Dr. Watson and Sally Sparrow Meet Cute in "Watson and Sparrow" and go on to marry in the next episode. They remain very in love and very devoted to each other, especially as Sally gives up her life in the 21st century to be with Watson at the close of the 19th. Sally gives birth to a daughter who turns out to be a Time Lord, and the couple eventually have more children. Even Holmes, in the end, is grateful for Sally and the children, attaching himself wholeheartedly to his best friend's family.
    • Beth Lestrade, on the other hand, has no less than a Trauma Conga Line in her relationship with Sherlock Holmes, but she earns her happy ending and marries him before returning to her own era. When the couple are reunited at last, they still have some issues to iron out, but their long separation has only deepened their appreciation for each other. Beth has commented that they will probably never get off the honeymoon, and both are perfectly fine with that. Now, they fight crime in the 22nd century, particularly dealing with the clone of Professor Moriarty.
  • Definitely Not Lupus (House & Once Upon a Time): Emma and Regina are married in this fic and while they have their normal bickering, they clearly adore each other. When Foreman and Thirteen even try to suggest that Regina abuses her, Emma shuts it down immediately, and even as the Dark One, Emma refuses to let anyone insult Regina, as evidenced when she nearly chokes Chase to death for suggesting it. Also, when Regina notices that Emma is still attracted to House, she doesn't get jealous, as she is secure that Emma would never cheat on her.
  • The Infinite Loops: Not only are pairs already married considered to be happily so, but any loopers who agree to get married for the entirety of the loops (instead of just one-loop stands) are regarded as this—since they will be together for multiple lifetimes.
    • Despite a case of Sanity Slippage played mostly for laughs on one of their halves, Princess Cadance and Shining Armor are every bit in love with each other after an eternity's worth of time as they were the day they married.
    • Spike and Rarity eventually became this, after much Character Development on Spike's behalf, and mutual exploration of why the two would be attracted to one another in the first place.
    • Over on Remnant has Jaune Arc and Pyrrha Nikos eventually getting married, though only after adopting their teammates and Pyrrha's core canon death.
    • While Kali and her husband Ghira did not activate at the same time, Kali waited five million subjective years for Ghira to start looping and, after his initial shock, they settled back in together relatively quickly.
    • Much, much later, Blake and Yang also got married, after dating for relative millennia. They eagerly await their baseline selves going official.
  • Koihime†Musou: Tales of the Armored War Gods (Kamen Rider Gaim & Koihime†Musou): Kochu is happily married to Iori Tokugawa (Kamen Rider Ryugen).
  • Kyon: Big Damn Hero (Haruhi Suzumiya & TV Tropes; author Died During Production): For all the circumstances around Yuuto and Akane's marriage (or probably because of them) they honestly struggle together with day-to-day troubles to keep their family stable and their children out of trouble.
  • Contrasting with the awful lives they live in canon, A Spark of Ice and Fire has the marriages between Sandor Clegane and Tysha, Stannis Baratheon and Lynesse Hightower, and Tyrion Lannister and Agatha Heterodyne. Tysha's warmth quietly mellows out the Hound; Lynesse, despite being very much a Gold Digger, has an excellent head for business and respects and genuinely appreciates Stannis; and Tyrion's political skills blend perfectly with Agatha's genius.
  • Tangled Adventures in Arendelle is all about Rapunzel and Eugene's honeymoon in Arendelle... during the events of Frozen. While the world around them pushes and prods them in different directions, and they have differences of opinion on MANY different things that happen during this time, they still communicate, still have fun with each other, and genuinely still love each other through it all.
    • This in fact is discussed in part during one part, where Rapunzel, hearing about the durability of a troll's marriage through all the bumps, muses that this is only further proof for her that she and Eugene are in genuine love.
  • In Manehattan's Lone Guardian, Gray Ghost and Ocean Guard are very much this. Gray in particular is delighted that Ocean has accepted all of her cat-like quirks without complaint, and she sees her loving family as the greatest prize she could ever have.

Dragon Age

  • The main pairing of Beyond Heroes: Of Sunshine and Red Lyrium are this for the last several chapters of the story. There's plenty of issues threatening their peace of mind (and existence), but their relationship is rock-solid throughout the entire fic.
  • Skyhold Academy Yearbook: The series has several of these among the cast. President and First Lady Theirin deserve special mention, as the happiness of their union contributes greatly to why Ferelden has appointed Alistair a Permanent Elected Official. It's also a big factor in the success of the eponymous school as well as the fact that the school exists at all. The other married couples in the series are indicated to be this, as none of the relationships experience any known dissension once they become official.
  • King Alistair and Queen Elissa are explicitly described this way a couple of times in Twice Upon an Age. Leliana, who has known them almost as long as they've known each other, is shown thinking about how glad she is that they're still happy after several years and only regrets that they can't be together (since the Queen is away on a secret mission).

Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire

Godzilla / King Kong / MonsterVerse

  • Abraxas (Hrodvitnon): Nadezhda and her husband Zima care very much for each-other. They interact very amicably, and neither being forcibly separated by Alan Jonah's paramilitary for experiments nor Nadezhda suffering a Medical Rape and Impregnate which leaves her pregnant with a Half-Human Hybrid can break the bond between them.

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed

  • An Acceptable Arrangement has Hou Yue and Nie Hongshan, who lead the Nie sect together and communicate openly and positively. Nie Hongshan and Sun Qiu later end up happily married as well, as they have many interests in common. They're an exception in the Cultivation World.
  • The Beast Of Gusu sees Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji get married at the end of Chapter 2 of "Unstoppable" and remain happily so for the rest of the story, despite the violence around them.
  • Best of My Love has several happily married characters: Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan, and as of the end of the fic Meng Yao and Lan Xichen.
  • In Everyone Lives With Knives, Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli are this. Not only do they have multiple children, but when Yanli is left bedridden for weeks leading up to and following her near-Death by Childbirth, Zixuan keeps watch at her bedside constantly.
  • In And I Will Burn For You, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. A few Yunmeng Jiang disciples too, including Jiang Shouhai and Gao Changying (though not to each other).
  • Second Chances has Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli be this. Upon reuniting in the past, they're ecstatic.
  • A Troublesome Charge has Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian still going strong sixteen years after canon ends. Their decision to live openly together and spend so much time together is so notable that it has changed the Lan Sect rules.
  • Twelve Moons and a Fortnight series:
    • Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. After their marriage, the two are shown to be living a charmed life together.
    • Li Shuai and Yu Zhenhong.

Hetalia: Axis Powers

Invader Zim

  • For the Glory of Irk:
    • Professor Membrane and his new wife Moira are very happy together, to Dib's initial chagrin (as he believes that Moira is evil).
    • Zim at one point casually reveals that he and Skoodge, his closest companion, are "bond-mates", the Irken equivalent of married.

Marvel Comics

  • Scott Summers and Jean Grey in X-Men 1970. A month and a half after their wedding they can't keep their hands off each other, and Jean is worried about their lack of arguments.

My Little Pony

  • Of Lilies and Chestnuts: Fleur De Lis and Fancy Pants. When Fancy learns that Fleur is infertile, his first act is to comfort her in her despair for a few hours and suggest adopting a foal so Fleur can salvage a glimpse of her dream. Fleur adores her husband in return.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

  • Lemon Cakes and Late Confessions: It's subverted for laughs. Katarina is married to Gerald, and she is happy. But she's so impossibly Oblivious to Love that she sees no connection between these two facts. Despite having a beautiful child, another on the way, and lots of loving sex, she remains convinced that he's going to divorce her any day now so he can be with Maria (who he has barely ever given a second glance to).

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • The Child of Love: After enduring plenty of trials and pains Shinji and Asuka end up getting married and leading happy lives. In the epilogue and side-stories they are depicted as still very in love, supporting each other and drawing strength from each other.
  • A Crown of Stars: Although Asuka can hardly bring herself to believe it, her future tells her that she and Shinji will end up like this. When they showed up they smiled happily and looked absolutely inseparable.
  • Ghosts of Evangelion:
    • Misato and Kaji get married when he returns from Instrumentality. They get along pretty well.
    • Shinji and Asuka. They have troubles, arguments and fights but they are happy together.
  • HERZ: Shinji and Asuka. Their relationship has gone through bumps and hardships and has needed considerable healing, forgiveness and soul-searching on both parties, but they are happy together.
  • Higher Learning: Kaoru told that, even though they had troubles and hardships, Asuka and Shinji were very happy together after getting married in his timeline.
  • Long Time No See: Doble subversion. Shinji and Asuka's speech and thoughts makes the reader believe they married other people in the past, but they are deluding themselves into believing their respective marriages were born of love rather than fear of loneliness... until it is revealed that they have been married to each other for ten years. And they have been "happier than [they] ever had imagined possible".
  • The Second Try - After Third Impact Shinji and Asuka were forced to overcome their many issues and traumas and work together. In the process they fell deeply in love, finally got married, and had a daughter.

One Piece

  • Coby's Choice: Luffy and Nami officially marry each other on Thriller Bark and are very happy with each other, with minimal drama outside of the canon two-year separation which was an absolute necessity for the crew to train to survive the New World.

Persona

  • A Year To Fill An Empty Home: Akira's parents Takeshi and Chou have this sort of marriage. They lean on each other to get through the year while their son is on probation in Tokyo, share little rituals like crossing off their countdown calendar, and have their own celebration when they hear that Akira will come home on time after being sent to juvie late last year.

Punch-Out!!

  • Ma Fille: It's rare that a marriage showcased in the story is an unhappy one. Anytime a boxer's spouse appears (Bear Hugger's husband Cy, Soda Popinski's wife Ivana, Flying Feather's wife Lucy, etc.), they are treated with the utmost respect and caring from the boxers. After Joe and Von Kaiser's wedding, they are shown to have a healthy, mutual respect-based marriage, and both put in equal share to raising their daughters, Katrina (the titular "fille") and Paige.

Superjail!

  • Extended Stay: Near the end, this is the case for the Warden and the Mistress, in spite of everything that's happened. In fact, they are so happy together that their marriage ends up lasting for twenty years!

Tolkien's Legendarium

  • Marks of Time: Meredith and Gilorn. Also, Caleniel and her husband. The worst moment is a brief argument between Meredith and Gilorn in chapter 2, but they quickly apologize and forgive each other.

Unsorted

  • This is in-universe-arguably the case for the Official Couple of The Bug Princess. It's not a question of whether they're happy (they are); it's a question of whether they're actually married. The union was cemented via Magically-Binding Contract, but it's technically only valid in the Neitherworld. Steps are taken to also make it legal among the living.
  • All of the couples who get married during the course of the Elemental Chess Trilogy qualify for this, although Fullmetal sometimes gives the impression of being a very slightly Henpecked Husband. In particular, Roy and Riza's marriage goes through a number of ups and downs caused by the Big Bad, but the one thing that never changes is how devoted they are to one another. Havoc even thinks, in one of his point-of-view chapters, about how they're finally happy.
  • From the Gensokyo 20XX series, we have Ran and Ren, after being engaged for at least four or five years, sticking by one another through thick and thin, never at all arguing or doing anything to hurt one another. Sadly, after enjoying a rather happy marriage, Ren passes away and Ran is a left a grieving widow.
  • Several examples in Supergirl story Hellsister Trilogy:
    • Clark and Lois get married at the beginning of the story. Clark gushes over his blessed married life.
    • Diana is delighted to be married to Steve Trevor.
We have been blessed, Kara. If I had known I'd be this happy in Steve's arms... well, let us just say that, for the sake of the villains I had to fight all these years, it was a good thing for the world that I didn't find out sooner. I know Kal has been just as pleasured by his marriage to Lois. Even Hal and Oliver show more optimism than strain these days. We are finally doing things for ourselves now, and not just for the world.
  • In the Arrow series Legacy, Oliver and Felicity have been married for over twenty years. Their kids still catch them having tickle fights in the kitchen sometimes.
  • The Many Dates of Danny Fenton: Whether it's Kim Possible, Sabrina Spellman, or his real choice of Kara Kent, all of the endings have Danny living a happy life with his chosen girl and their children.
  • Meg's Family Series has Meg and Zack. Despite all the problems (including Abusive Parents) that they've gone through, they still love and care about each other. It helps that Zack is extremely protective of his wife.
  • In the Motion Practice series, which recasts Marvel superheroes in a mundane setting, Steve and Bucky stand out as happily married, with a beloved adopted daughter and no visible relationship dramas. Most of the other marriages in the series are also happy, but prone to rocky patches for Rule of Drama.
  • The Pieces Lie Where They Fell:
    • After hints were given in the first story, the sequel Picking Up the Pieces reveals that Sweet Surprise is and has been happily married to a firepony stallion named Hot Rod and a psychiatrist mare named Sound Mind (who actually made a short appearance in the first story) for going on five years, much to the surprise of her fellow Captains when they find out. The pair demonstrate this when they separately come into her office later on because they're worried about her.
    • Even Hoof, lieutenant of the Luna Guard under Sweet Surprise, is happily married to Scented Meadows. They're out for their anniversary when they run into Captain General Gentle Step and Captain Memorizing Gaze during their "Captain's Meet", and Even has no problem introducing his wife to the two captains.
  • Elsa and Anna in The Queen's Consort have clearly never left the honeymoon stage, especially after Elsa finds out that she is married to her after she gains amnesia.
  • The One Piece fan fiction series Rerum Danarae has Borsalino note  and his civilian wife Suikô (水光, water light), who, despite being married over twenty years, still play rather elaborate light-BDSM games; it is implied that Suikô controls her husband's antics by banning him from the house. There is also Fleet Admiral Kuzannote , who, contrarily to his former lifestyle as a vagrant of the seas (who from tradition never say no to being propositioned by their preference), hasn't had eyes for any other woman but the one he later married – Kumori C. Theodora – since meeting her 28/31 years ago; the pair has to date four children, and is, after 25 years of marriage, still raunchy to the point that their youngest daughter Evermist lampshades this in protest.
  • In Danny Phantom fanfic Resurrected Memories: Jack and Maddie Fenton, just like in canon. Also it's implied that the sub teacher A.J. Murray has this with her own husband.
  • In The Sanctuary Telepath (in the universe all of them stays alive, at least) Janine and James eventually become this - supported by a century worth of common history. They're very much in love, trusting, in sync, and with Janine's brother they form the London Three.
  • In The Hunger Games fanfic Some Semblance of Meaning, Lavinia and Damon end up happily married. This is nice, because it gives a spot of brightness in an ending that is more depressing than not.
  • Son of the Sannin:
    • After living for a few years under the same roof while raising Naruto together, Jiraiya and Tsunade eventually develop feelings for one another and get married. While they still bicker from time to time and have some issues, they end up a very happy couple overall.
    • Shizune is shown to have a loving relationship with Shisui, both before and after they marry as well as a caring set of parents to their two children. Chapter 81 also implies that they have a fairly active sex life.
  • Time to Plan: Some canon characters have gotten married ten billion years into the future, as Tech Leader discovers.
    • Discord and Fluttershy got together, with Fluttershy turning into a draconequus and renaming herself Flutterbold at some point. Their Big Entrance even involved transforming a building and its inhabitants into a giant wedding cake which they shortly jump out of. Then they passionately kiss shortly after.
    • Rarity and Spike also got together, with Rarity transforming into the elder dragoness Rariamat to resolve the complications their Interspecies Romance posed.
    • Shining Armor and Princess Cadence were also married, as was in canon, though their love grew to the point where they decided to fuse together and become the immortal alicorn Love. After this, they as Love entered a loving, polyamorous marriage with a redeemed King Sombra and Queen Chrysalis. Love even introduces Chrysalis as their bride.
    • King Tirek and King Scorpan became royal consorts of Queen Celestia and Queen Luna, respectively, sometime after Tirek's redemption. Magic notes both Tirek and Scorpan serve as guardians for their wives, as Celestia and Luna became full-on goddesses and cannot exist among mortals for long periods of time.
  • Us and Them:
    • Prof. Gast and Ifalna are shown to have a very warm, loving relationship, even if his inner child gets on her nerves every now and then.
    • Later extends to Aeris and Sephiroth as well, except here she's the one prone to childish tendencies.
  • In What About Witch Queen?, King Ferdinand and Queen Lisa of the Southern Isles seem to be happy couple, despite the former's Hair-Trigger Temper. It helps that Lisa has all the qualities of The High Queen.
  • Young Justice Titans has this starting to develop with the senior members of the old team who decided to marry young. Namely, Superboy and Mrs. Martian as well as Artemis and Wally West. Mrs. M and Conner have most of of their old issues worked out, and are now happily raising not only a kid but mentoring now as well. Artemis and Wally meanwhile are in semi-superhero retirement, focusing on raising their daughter, and while still annoyed by each other, genuinely love and care about each other without reservation.
