Funny Background Event / Epic Rap Battles of History

Go To

Most of the battles have the characters doing ridiculous dances and/or poses in the background:

  • In "Dr Seuss vs Shakespeare", Dr. Seuss vomits rainbows while on the boat.
  • In "Einstein vs Stephen Hawking", Stephen Hawking is seen playing Angry Birds.
  • In "Mario Bros vs Wright Bros", behind the Wright Brothers, you can see biplanes flying, and at one point one crashing into the ground.
  • "Barack Obama vs Mitt Romney":
    • At the end of Romney's first verse, it looks like he's... really going for distance on that kick.
    • Obama with his head down and looking like he'd just been scolded by his mother while Lincoln moves on to chewing out Romney.
  • In "Doc Brown vs Doctor Who", while the Fourth Doctor is rapping, look at the computer screen behind him on the TARDIS control panel. It's Minecraft! Specifically, it's video footage from the Shadow of Israphel series.
  • In "Columbus vs. Captain Kirk", after Kirk says "Have fun canoeing", he can be seen behind Columbus doing a rowing motion.
  • In "Bruce Lee vs Clint Eastwood", one of the ninjas that Bruce Lee beats collapses onto the borderline between Lee's and Eastwood's screens, and the part of him that falls into Eastwood's screen changes into a cowboy. Apparently they have one-size-fits-all Mooks that dynamically change to fit the scene. The effect is repeated later in the episode, when a desperado, sneaking behind Eastwood, turns into a creeping ninja when he crosses the divide.
  • "Rasputin vs Stalin":
    • After Lenin's verse points out his withered right hand, Stalin can be seen looking at said hand- presumably in confusion, since it was his left hand that was deformed.
    • Rasputin can be seen dancing in place to the beat during Gorbachev and Putins' verses.
    • More generally, the non-rappers can be seen in the background with a facial expression of mild surprise, which is funnier than if they were violently reacting to being insulted. During Putin's verse, Gorby can be seen to be making a "is that bacon I smell?" face.
  • In "Rick Grimes vs. Walter White", Walter distracts a zombie with a bag of meth at the beginning of his second verse. At the very end, the zombie walks behind him tweaking out.
  • In "Steven Spielberg vs Alfred Hitchcock", at a point during Michael Bay's verse, you can see him throwing his director's chair. Also, when he says "Got a gift from above and the eyes of an eagle", an eagle is seen flying behind him, which promptly explodes.
  • In "Lewis and Clark vs Bill and Ted", while Lewis and Clark are accusing Bill & Ted of being nothing without their Hyper-Competent Sidekick Rufus, Sacagawea is seen rowing the canoe they are in, and later fighting off a bear with her bare hands, saving their oblivious asses.
  • In "Eastern Philosophers vs Western Philosophers", Sun Tzu is spying on his opponents.
  • "Shaka Zulu vs Julius Caesar":
    • Julius Caesar mimes a slam dunk at one point.
    • During Caesar's "I'd waggle my biography" line, two tiny Roman soldiers standing on his shoulder high-five each other.
  • In "Babe Ruth vs Lance Armstrong", after Babe hits a home run, the pitcher throws a tantrum.
    • Also worth noting is that the pitcher seems to be another Ruth. Ruth pitched for the Red Sox before he was traded to the Yankees.
  • "J. R. R. Tolkien vs George R. R. Martin":
    • Tolkien's "dance" in the background during his line "you Hob-bit my whole shit, you uninspired hack".
    • When J. R. R. Tolkien mentions that George R. R. Martin's works rank below Fifty Shades of Grey, Tolkien can be seen in the back playing with Christian Grey's tie as if it is a whip.
    • The computer on George R. R. Martin's second verse is playing Zork.
    • Jon Snow, stabbed by Martin during his first verse, is seen coming back from the dead later on.
  • In "Terminator vs Robocop", when RoboCop is about to shoot the Terminator, part of the Terminator's Search Mode scan includes a Call-Back to Bruce Lee vs. Clint Eastwood:
Firepower: Cool in the 80's, maybe.
  • "Ash Ketchum vs. Charles Darwin":
    • Jessie and James try to sneak up on Ash while he's rapping, only for them to get shocked by Pikachu before they even have a chance to strike.
    • During Ash's "You're the most annoying thing on a Beagle since fleas" line, Pikachu is visible laughing in the background.
  • In "Hitler vs. Vader 3", while Boba Fett is rapping against Hitler, Darth Vader is in the background bobbing his head to the beat with his arms crossed.
  • "Master Chief vs Leonidas":
    • During Leonidas' "Your puny fans are fat nerds on computers" line, Ephialtes is visible dragging his shield along the ground. He later turns up again during Master Chief's "Your whole plan got messed up by a hunchback with Down Syndrome" line, still dragging his shield.
    • During Master Chief's "You will not enjoy this, but it will be over quickly" line, a copy of him is visible doing Le Parkour.
    • When Leonidas raps "I'd look you in the eyes, but you're too much of a bitch to show your face!", his 6-year-old son (played by a full-grown man) flexes his muscles in the background.
  • In "Justin Bieber vs Beethoven", when Beethoven raps "Ask Bach, I've got more cock than Smith and Wesson", Bach pops up and spreads his hands to indicate that yes, Beethoven has that much cock, while nodding.
  • In "Wonder Woman vs Stevie Wonder", during Wonder Woman's "lookin' like a Predator after some chemotherapy" line, Stevie is visible behind Wonder Woman swaying right and then left.
  • In "Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg", the org chart Zuckerberg takes out at the beginning of his portion of the battle has some slightly bizarre stuff further down. Like Reddit (twice) and ERB itself.
    • When Mark Zuckerberg is looking up Elon Musk's family history, his computer screen shows the home page of the ERB Wiki.
  • After being drugged, Bill Cosby spends a good portion of George Carlin vs Richard Pryor unconscious, laying on the floor occasionally twitching.
  • In "Vlad the Impaler vs. Count Dracula," Vlad brags about stepping on Ottomen, as he steps on an ottoman (the furniture kind). In the background, you see he has several other pieces of that furniture impaled on stakes.
  • Inverted: In "Thanos vs. J. Robert Oppenheimer" Oppenheimer, apparently dissociating, wiggles along to the beat while a fully-present incarnation accuses Thanos of copping his punchlines from RhymeZone in the background.
  • "Harry Potter vs Luke Skywalker" has a number of these, most in the form of recreations of memorable scenes from both series' movies, but among the most notable:
    • While talking about the fates of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, we see two skeletons representing them run out of the house while set on fire.
    • At the mention of Broken Base that was the prequel trilogy, three movie fans outside a theater are seen beating up Jar Jar Binks.
