Funny / Gaming in the Clinton Years

George Wood's game reviews are notorious for going off into fervent, but often hilarious directions.

  • First, but not least, his take on Donkey Kong Country:
Donkey Kong Country is truly perfect. If you do not get this amazing new generation of Donkey Kong Country madness, you are STUPID. Yes, I know, that's insulting, but it's also the truth!
  • The Toy Story review has to be seen to be believed. It's an absolute mountain of insanity:
You can't win Toy Story without cheating, and this cheating brings victory way too quickly to warrant spending your money.
  • A Funny Moments page about this show wouldn't be complete without bringing up his...rather out there suggestion for what he thinks would make a good Tomb Raider plot.
We have a challenge to Eidos. In Tomb Raider III, create a storyline in which Lara gets breast cancer. Imagine the drama of a vulnerable Lara Croft still persisting on her worldly adventures despite her illness. It needs fleshing out, no pun intended, but we guarantee the gaming world would be shocked, stunned, and moved by the effort to make Lara's character more meaningful.
  • That wasn't the only out there suggestion George would make for a game idea. His second great idea comes from his Fomula One Racing review where he says this.
Why not have a game where you have to find and drive to the hospital before your wife delivers her baby? Now that would be fun! Rather than compete against other racers, you'd have to avoid getting arrested by keeping below the speed limit, obeying right-of-way laws, and not tailgating. Any foul-up, and the cops will pull you over.
  • "So which will it be? PlayStation, Jaguar, M2, or Saturn? The answer is: none of the above. There's another advanced gaming system that will win the war, and it's Virtual Boy."
    • George goes on to state that he thinks the PlayStation (which curb-stomped basically everything mentioned on that list) will come in second, and that the M2 will come in last. To his credit, he was technically right on the M2.....as it never got released.
  • The EarthBound (1994) review, where he says that you can play the game in one hand and eat a pizza with the other, like so.
  • From his GoldenEye review being baffled from the Repeat Cut edit from the bungee jumping sequence:
The camera is all screwed up! He jumps! He jumps again, from a different angle! What the heck?! Is this some new funky directing style, or what? Okay enough of Bond.
    • Speaking of being baffled, during his review of A Bug's Life, he notices that the gameplay of the floating across the chasm level doesn't match the cutscene of the same event and says this.
Hello?! We already crossed the river! Who's been messing with the space-time continuum? Hello? Mcfly? Is anybody home?
