Fridge Brilliance

  • Mordremoth's physical body, unlike the other Elder Dragons (excepting Soo-Won) is that of a very long and serpentine body, similar to that of a traditional chinese dragon. It may seem like a strange deviation at first... until you remember that the jungle vines that you fought across the jungle are also Mordremoth, and that they're similar in shape. Mordremoth's body is actually a gigantic and draconic vine!
  • During the quest to a acquire a skyscale mount, you have to expose the egg to various magical energies to hatch it. In each case, this involves consulting an expert on the relevant concept on how to find it. All except one. The Skyscale of Courage achievement requires the Commander to go to various places and recount your victories against the elder dragons and Balthazar without any outside guidance whatsoever. The Commander has slain three Elder Dragons and a God of War And is directly responsible for uniting the forces that helped them accomplish that. Who in all of Tyria could tell the Commander anything about courage that they don't already know?
  • The currency change between the first and second game, especially the devaluing of platinum, makes perfect sense. At that time gold was the primary currency of the human kingdoms who had been minting coins for centuries, devaluing the base gold significantly. Platinum by contrast was exceptionally rare - the only areas with platinum deposits that were human-controlled in the past were northern Ascalon and land close to Orr. The chaos during the first game saw Ascalon and Orr destroyed, eliminating them as a source of gold, and Kryta likely bankrupted during the White Mantle upheavals. The conquest of Elona and isolation of Cantha cut off any flow of the human currency from them and Kryta had to rebuild its currency system with far less gold than in the past. The need to have a universal currency for trade with the other races only emphasized the need for alternate coinage than the limited gold, so copper and silver were minted. As for platinum, the discovery of new sources revealed sufficient amounts of the material that it became devalued in comparison and was no longer used as currency.
  • When in the presence of Kormir, the Commander is blinded. Now, what happened to Kormir again?

Fridge Horror

  • Palawa Joko's attempt to kill Taimi to hurt the Commander via suffocation seems elaborate at first, since one would think it would be quicker and easier to just have one of the Awakened Inquest kill her before they can save her. However, remember that Palawa Joko has been in the Domain of the Lost. If not before then, he must have have learned somehow that you end up as a lost soul if your death is traumatic. And he knows that the Commander ended up as a lost soul, who as a consequence knows how horrific it can be to die like that and lose your memories as a result. That's right, he intended for her death to be as traumatic and painful as possible specifically so that she would end up as a lost soul in the Domain of the Lost, all so that her death would hurt the Commander even further.
  • Realizing just how much Tyria would have been screwed if the Sylvari Commander lost their mind to Mordremoth. The Commander is canonically one of the most skilled fighters in the world, if not the most skilled fighter in the world. If the Sylvari Commander became a Mordrem dragon champion then the chances of stopping Mordremoth would have been nigh impossible and Dragon's Watch and the Pact would have been slaughtered indiscriminately unless they somehow managed to to reach the Commander which considering how Mordremoth's corruption works, is sadly not very likely. This also likely would have resulted in Trahearne, Logan, and Zojja never being rescued which would have resulted in more powerful dragon champions being created. If the Sylvari commander lost in the mental fight to Mordremoth it would have been absolute game over for Tyria.
