The Woman Hunt is a 1973 USA/Philippines sexploitation-adventure film directed by Eddie Romero and starring John Ashley, Pat Woodell, and Sid Haig. The film is an unofficial remake of Richard Connell's 1924 short story "The Most Dangerous Game".
Three mercenaries kidnap women and take them to an island, where a wealthy man named Spyros is assembling a group of other wealthy men to hunt the women for sport. A mercenary named Tony has change of heart and helps the women to escape. Tony and the women flee through the jungle pursued by Spyros and his hunters.
Tropes:
- Ate His Gun: After suffering a Villainous BSoD, Big Bad Spyros kills himself this way.
- Blood Is Squicker in Water: The body of Spyros falls into the pool where Tony and McGee are Skinny Dipping, and the blood blossom out in the water around it (although the 'blood'
seems to have the consistency of paint). - Booby Trap: Tony protects the camp by constructing a 'bamboo whip': a set spikes over a long bamboo pole which is pulled back into an arc using a catch attached to a tripwire. Magda triggers the trap while trying to sneak up on the camp and catchs the spikes squarely in her stomach.
- Bound and Gagged: Most of the female captives are bound and gagged during some point in their abduction, and Tony and the girls leave Magda bound and gagged in one of the bedrooms when they escape the mansion.
- From Dress to Dressing: After Billie is bitten by a snake, McGee uses the belt off her dress as a tourniquet while Tony cuts her leg to Suck Out the Poison.
- Grievous Bottley Harm: When he escapes the mansion, Tony knocks Karp out by smashing a bottle of whiskey over his head.
- Hands-On Approach: Silas does this when he shows Sam how to steer the boat: standing close behind her and reaching round her waist to guide her hands.
- Hunting the Most Dangerous Game: Spyros has women abducted so he can hunt them as bonding exerise with his millionaire buddies.
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Magda trips Tony's 'bamboo whip' Booby Trap and wears a set of sharpened bamboo stakes through her stomach. She is so badly injured that Spyros performs a Mercy Kill on her.
- Mercy Kill: After Madga is Impaled with Extreme Prejudice on Tony's Booby Trap, Spyros kneels over her and puts a bullet in her head.
- Psycho Lesbian: Madga, Spyros' head of security. She arranges the abduction of the women to be the prey in Spyros' Hunting the Most Dangerous Game party, and keeps propositioning Lori: telling her that she will make things easier for her if only she coperates. Later she drugs Lori, intending to rape her, but is prevented from doing when the other captives escape. However, she later kisses Spyros, so she might be a Depraved Bisexual (or it might be a case of Single-Target Sexuality).
- Skinny Dipping: Despite being almost out out of the jungle and therefore safe, McGee decides to go skinny dipping in a jungle pool. Tony joins her and it starts to turn into a Two-Person Pool Party.
- Slipping a Mickey: Psycho Lesbian Magda drugs Lori's wine, intending to rape her.
- Suck Out the Poison: After Billie is bitten by a snake, Tony cuts her leg with a machete and attempts to suck the poison out.
- Thrown from the Zeppelin: One of Spyros' millionaire buddies declares that women for sport is insane and starts to storm out of the dinner party. Spyros calmly takes a crossbow off the wall and shoots him dead.
- Two-Person Pool Party: Tony and McGee go Skinny Dipping in a jungle pool and start making out before they interrupted by Spyros committing suicide.
- Villainous BSoD: Big Bad Spyros is badly wounded and Left for Dead. Despite his injuries, he drags himself after the last two survivors, Tony and McGee. he catches up with them while they are Skinny Dipping and has them in his sights when he is overwhelmed by memories of his Number Two Magda, whom he had been forced to perform a Mercy Kill on. Instead of shooting Tony and McGee, he puts a bullet through his own head.
