    Fanon About The Trio

  • There are many fans that interpret Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu as being in a Love Triangle of sorts with the most popular take being Sasha being in love with Anne, Anne having feelings for Marcy, and Marcy crushing on either Anne or Sasha or both at the same time.
  • It's very common to have Marcy be the shortest of the three (though in the show itself, they're all the same height) and have Height Angst about it.
  • Going off of the above, many people headcanon Marcy as non-binary and lesbian or bisexual.
    • Anne is often depicted as being lesbian and transgender.
    • Sasha is considered to be bisexual or lesbian due to the fact that her voice actress is openly bi. Like Anne above, it's also becoming popular to headcanon Sasha as trans. A Freeze-Frame Bonus in the final episode shows Sasha with a bisexual heart on her car, and she was later confirmed by Matt Braly to be bi after the episode's airing, making the former Ascended Fanon.
    • The Jamie Krieger girl Anne mentions repeatedly in the episode "Cracking Mrs. Croaker" is often depicted as being an ex-crush of sorts whenever she's mentioned or shown in fics.
  • Fans are split on how old each of the human girls exactly is, mainly because their official birth dates have yet to be disclosed. Sasha is generally considered to be the oldest of the three due to being the most authoritative out of all of them, Marcy is the youngest and Anne's birthday is between the other two. Sasha being the oldest would eventually be confirmed by Matt Braly.
  • The trio being neurodivergent is popular, usually Marcy having autism (and sometimes ADHD) and Sasha having Borderline Personality Disorder.
  • Sasha is often referred to as Sashimi as an Affectionate Nickname by Anne and Marcy in many fics and headcanons.
    • Anne is also called Annie by the other two in some fics as well.
  • A number of headcanons came about from Marcy's stabbing and subsequent possession by the Core
    • The idea of her becoming a ghost and haunting Sasha is also a popular genre of fanart, though usually played comically.
    • The idea of her having a huge scar on her chest and back from being run through by Andrias' sword is a very popular one.
    • She's also usually depicted as becoming disabled and sometimes using a wheelchair in the future due to the stabbing and torture she endures.
    • Related to the above, it is a common fan-theory for the future of the show, common to many fics and art pieces set after the events of the show, where Anne and Sasha are shown with a lost arm and eye respectively. Becomes Hilarious in Hindsight when Grime turns out to be the one to lose an arm in "All In".
  • The idea of Sasha shaving or cutting off her hair in a fit of rage and recklessness during a breakdown is slowly gearing up in fanworks. Sometimes she's portrayed as having such short hair in future fics. Interestingly, by "Commander Anne", the series seems to be going the opposite direction of this by having Sasha's hair be let loose and having it grown slightly longer. Though the finale does depict her with shorter hair, it's shoulder-length, as opposed to it being a pixie cut like most fans imagined.
  • A lot fans view Sasha and Marcy as Lethal Chefs, though Marcy is more frequently a target of this due to be The Klutz.
  • It's often suggested that the yellow jacket Anne wears around her waist in the season 3 opening belonged to Marcy and that she's wearing it as a physical reminder of her.
  • A common headcanon is that, if they weren't together already, Sasha and Anne would become a couple during their time commanding the resistance together.
    • Similarly, the two having dated but later on broke up, becoming Amicable Exes during the Time Skip in "The Hardest Thing", is one interpretation of what might've happened before the epilogue.
    • Both are also depicted as having had a disastrous prom night together after trying to rekindle things yet again.
  • Following the reveal in "The Hardest Thing" that Marcy ended up becoming a webcomic artist, some fans have joked that she might have thought of making a webcomic series based on her adventures with her friends in Amphibia.
  • It's a common view that Anne will eventually accept the Guardian's offer in "The Hardest Thing", but will share her divinity with Sasha and Marcy.
  • Anne, Sasha, and Marcy realizing their feelings and falling back in love with each other after reuniting in the finale is very common in fanworks. This often leads to them moving in together and eventually getting married, with Anne's parents being massive shippers for the throuple.
    • Whenever the three move in together, Anne is usually portrayed as being the best cook out of them while Sasha is a Lethal Chef that tends to burn their food a lot.
    • Likewise, Sasha and Anne working out together, with Marcy having a far unhealthier lifestyle than them. A lot of fanworks depict Anne and Sasha having to physically drag their wife into bed to make sure she has a healthy sleep schedule.
    • This could also lead to the Guardian's offer mentioned above happening as well.
  • In the scene of Anne meeting the creator of the Calamity Gems, her shoe is on the wrong foot. This led to a headcanon that the "backup version" of her is mirrored from the original. This is commonly depicted as her being left-handed post-Amphibia, after being right-handed before.
  • In AUs where the main girls are Amphibian and the Amphibian characters are human, the trio are generally the species of who they ended up with (Anne as a frog, Sasha as a toad, and Marcy as a newt).
  • It's popular for fanart and fanfiction involving crossovers with The Owl House to explain Marcy's family was going to move to Connecticut, allowing Marcy to meet Luz Noceda once that happens.
  • Sasha is sometimes headcanoned as being mixed heritage of white and asian, usually Korean.
    • She's also portrayed as being Russian (or German) American. With her also being able to speak in Russian at times.

    Other Characters & Miscellaneous

  • After her brief appearance in "Reunion", Maggie's portrayed in fanworks as being a regular bully to Anne, picking on the latter whenever she pleases and possibly having an Irrational Hatred towards her. Maggie also occasionally bullies Marcy as well and clashes with Sasha in various fics.
  • In fanworks, both Sasha and Marcy are often depicted as coming from dysfunctional families (as opposed to Anne's more stable and happier home life). This is very much used as a way to explain how Anne seems to be an Only Sane Man compared to her friends. In the series itself, all that was revealed is that Sasha's parents are divorced as shown in "Froggy Little Christmas".
    • Sasha's home life is portrayed as her being rich, but with her parents being emotionally and verbally (sometimes physically) abusive towards her.
    • To a lesser extent, Sasha's parents are portrayed as divorced sometimes, which ended up being the case in canon.
    • Both, or one of them, are also portrayed as being alcoholics and/or drug addicts as well.
    • Marcy's parents, on the other hand, are portrayed as being extremely strict and overprotective to the point where it's smothering her. Either that or they, or one of them, is controlling and/or negligent.
      • One subtype portrayal has Mrs. Wu being a Useless Bystander Parent to her husband's terrible parenting, enabling his actions either by barely standing up for Marcy, or actively encouraging it herself.
    • As such, it's also very common for them to be depicted as having moved away without waiting for Marcy to come back alongside the above portrayal, leaving her to be heartbroken once she returns and sees that they abandoned her.
    • If Marcy has siblings, it's almost always going to involve her having sister(s).
      • Ally from "Fixing Frobo" is sometimes depicted as being Marcy's older sister in fics.
    • While rare, Sasha is sometimes shown with siblings in a few fics, which is usually limited to her having a brother or an older sister.
      • Molly Jo from "Spider-Sprig" being her younger sister or stepsister is sometimes depicted as well.
    • If one of Sasha and Marcy's parents are portrayed in a much better light, it'll be Mr. Waybright and Mrs. Wu respectively.
    • To elaborate, Sasha's dad is seen as the more sensible parent while her mom is verbally and emotionally abusive. For Marcy, on the other hand, her dad is usually portrayed as being the more harsh and controlling parent while her mom tries her best to actually care for her while also trying to appease her husband.
    • Due to the above, Marcy's also portrayed as being a Stepford Smiler, secretly hiding her angst-ridden and self-destructive self underneath all of the cheerfulness she shows. With her acting as a happy, bubbly, and oblivious nerd as way to cope with (and avoid thinking about) her troubled home life and other issues as a type of escapism.
  • Due to rumors online and a few mishearings, fans came to believe that Anne's parents are named Mae and Jeff. It wasn't until Matt revealed in an interview that their names are Oum and Bee, respectively.
    • Speaking of which, both characters are always portrayed as being supportive of their daughter coming out as a (sometimes trans) lesbian and being in a polyamorous relationship. Considering how accepting they are when they meet the Plantars, this could be a plausible reaction.
    • Furthermore, Oum bonds with Sasha more, while Bee does so with Marcy. This often leads to them teasing Anne about dating her childhood friends and sometimes betting on her love life.
    • Thus, both, alongside Grime, Olivia, and Yunan, become parental figures to both girls, considering how fans usually portrayed their parents...
    • As opposed to Oum and Bee, Marcy's parents would sometimes be homophobic and are disapproving of her relationship with Anne and/or Sasha, referring to the girls as bad influences on their daughter.
    • Sasha's parents would either have some type of problem with her relationships with the two, that's sometimes doesn't involve homophobia, or not care enough to even pay attention to her to notice anything happening, to the point where Sasha could be outwardly affectionate to Anne and Marcy and her parents would just choose to ignore it.
  • In a similar sense to Anne, Sasha, and Marcy, Andrias and his former friends are sometimes portrayed as having had a romantic conflict with each other in the past as well. Most of the time, the interpretation involves Andrias and the pink frog being together.
    • Though, to a lesser extent, sometimes the green toad is added in to make it so that both are Andrias' exes.
    • "The Core & The King" finally reveals the frog and toad's names to be Leif and Barrel respectively. Surely enough, the three's relationship is full of subtext and blushing during the first half of the episode.
    • To a lesser extent, the three are also portrayed as keeping their relationship a secret from the public, especially when it comes to King Aldrich, who highly disapproves of his son's relationship with the two.
  • Sprig is often believed by the fandom to have ADHD due to his self-admitted short attention span and moments like his Sensory Overload in "Mr. X".
  • Andrias and Darcy/The Core are often depicted as referring to the Calamity Trio by the gem they're connected to (Marcy is Wit, Sasha is Strength, Anne is Heart) instead of their names. This is not present in the show, where Andrias simply uses their names and Darcy uses creepily affectionate terms like "Girls" or "Girlfriend".
