Fanfic / Your Wish is my Command (Miraculous Ladybug)

Go To

Lila won. With Ladybug and Chat Noir helpless at her feet, Volpina demands to know just why Shadowmoth sought their Miraculous so fiercely. Forcibly compelled to answer, Tikki reveals that when the Ladybug Earrings and Black Cat Ring's powers are combined, Creation and Destruction can grant the holder anything they desire. Eagerly, Lila Wishes to have the life of a Miraculous Holder — specifically, of Adrien Agreste.

Thus begins Your Wish is my Command, a Recursive Fanfiction for the Miraculous Ladybug fanfic The Lament Series (ChaoticNeutral) penned by DemiGoddess28. But Lila's moment of triumph doesn't last long, as she comes to learn the hard way that Reality Warping Is Not a Toy, and the life she thought she wanted looked a lot nicer outside the Gilded Cage. Plus there's the not so minor matter of phrasing...

The series has its own universe, which is collected here.

This fanfic contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change: As a result of the wish reshuffling reality, Lila Rossi becomes Lila Agreste, while Adrien Agreste is now Adrien Graham de Vanily.
  • Adaptational Badass: The Ladybug and Black Cat holders in the new reality are Marc Anciel and Nathaniel Kurtzberg, respectively.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Opens this way, with Volpina standing triumphantly over the fallen heroes of Paris.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Lila wishes for Adrien's life, and finds herself in a new reality where her mother married Gabriel instead of Emilie. Rather than getting to lounge in the lap of luxury, however, she finds herself dealing with just how controlling her new father can be. And switching places with Adrien doesn't automatically make her as popular with her classmates as he was. Nor is he the same boy she remembers dealing with before...
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Hawk/Shadowmoth never considered that Lila might outright refuse to hand over the Miraculous, despite being well aware that he was working with a manipulative, Consummate Liar.
    • Lila only realizes after seeing her mother's portrait in the manor that she may switch places as well, and that being in the same position as Emilie was in the original reality would likely mean she's disappeared.
    • She completely fails to consider that Adrien and Felix might have told their parents about what she did, and that they might confront her about it in front of her own father.
  • Easily Forgiven: Averted; Felix makes clear that while he accepts Lila's apology, he doesn't forgive her for badgering him so much or causing his akumatization.
  • Entitled to Have You: Lila retains this attitude towards Adrien. While she no longer benefits financially from pursuing him, she still wants to cling onto him and keep him firmly under her heel... despite him no longer acting like the Extreme Doormat she's used to.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Gabriel may still be Hawkmoth, but he's appalled to hear how his daughter has been acting, and utterly floored when she tries emotionally manipulating him by invoking her mother. It's also implied that he won't akumatize Lila.
  • Full-Name Ultimatum: Gabriel calls his daughter "Lila Isabella Agreste" when infuriated by her actions.
  • Grass is Greener: What drives Lila to make her wish is her desire to be rich, famous and popular. As she quickly learns, while Adrien did have a lot of money and was a famous model, he also had almost no freedom to do anything because Gabriel is very controlling. So her and Adrien switching lives saddles her with the same problems.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Making the Wish traps Lila in her new reality with no way of returning to the old one, and her behavior helps shape it into a Self-Inflicted Hell.
  • I Can Change My Beloved: Lila is completely convinced that she can change Adrien back to his Extreme Doormat past self. She's quick to find it's hard to change him when he wants nothing to do with her.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Played With; Lila uses this as her primary excuse for her actions, only to learn that others don't consider that to be a valid defense.
  • Ignored Epiphany: When it first dawns upon Lila that switching places with Adrien may mean that her mother has gone missing like his did, she reflects upon all the little ways her mother showed her love and wonders whether her Wish was perfect after all... only to swiftly shove the thought away, reminding herself of all the benefits she expects to gain as Lila Agreste.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • Alya still creates a blog based on the Miraculous superheroes, which is called CocciNews rather than the LadyBlog.
    • There is still an 'Umbrella Scene' between the Ladybug and Cat holders.
    • A 'Love Square' of sorts still exists, though the dynamic is different, as there is mutual attraction between Coccinelle and Cheshire Cat in both their masked and civilian identities.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Lila's no longer applies in the rewritten reality, meaning she has to deal with the consequences of her actions.
  • Love at First Sight: Adrien almost instantly starts crushing on Marinette, much to his cousin's amusement.
  • Loving a Shadow: One of Lila's Fatal Flaws is that she can't let go of the Adrien she remembers from the original reality. Specifically, she wants him to be the meek people pleaser who made bad bargains with her, not the outspoken critic of her he is in this universe.
  • Mama Bear: Both Emilie and Amilie are furious upon learning what Lila did to their sons.
  • My Beloved Smother: Gabriel serves as a Rare Male Example; compared to his original counterpart, he's plotted out Lila's schedule even more tightly, and does not allow her any leeway. This is largely attributed to him growing overprotective after losing her mother, without any romance-related aspects involved.
    • Ironically, since his child is now Lila instead of Adrien, Gabriel actually has a point about trying his hardest to keep his daughter out of trouble.
  • New Transfer Student: Lila's first day in her new reality happens to be the same day that she originally arrived at Francoise Dupont... which is now the day that Adrien and Felix arrive.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Making her Wish ends up wiping away Lila's victory over Ladybug and Chat Noir, creating a new world with different heroes, where Lila is no longer able to manipulate her classmates with her usual tactics.
  • Perky Goth: What Adrien appears to be in this universe, wearing darker clothing then before, but still being rather friendly and energetic, at least when he's not pissed off.
  • Playing the Victim Card: After driving Felix out of the cafeteria with her invasive line of questioning, Lila attempts the waterworks, only for Adrien to lead the charge in calling her out on it.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Since her mother married Gabriel, she's now the one who's mysteriously missing, while Emilie co-owns the Graham de Vanily film company.
    • Adrien and Felix Graham de Vanily both lived in London, and transfer to Francoise Dupont on the day that Lila originally transferred in.
    • Without having to deal with Gabriel's controlling nature, Adrien is far from the Extreme Doormat and people pleaser Lila recalls, dressing and acting the way he prefers, and doesn't take kindly to her efforts to pry into his life.
    • Rather than Ladybug and Chat Noir, Paris is protected by Coccinelle and Cheshire Cat, who wind up debuting on the same day of Adrien and Felix's arrival.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • When Chloé starts harassing his cousin, Adrien launches a blistering counter attack mocking her overreliance on her father's connections and her minion, asking "When was the last time you did anything for yourself, Chloé?"
    • He gets another one against Lila, calling out her whininess and sense of entitlement.
  • Recursive Fanfiction: For The Lament Series, inspired by their plans for Lila's Lament.
  • Ripple-Proof Memory: Tikki and Plagg recall the original reality, and Tikki reacts wistfully when her new holder mentions Marinette.
  • Shamed by a Mob: To Lila's shock, her attempt to manipulate the others through tears completely backfires, as everyone who witnessed her grilling Felix glares at her with disgust.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Downplayed, as he never quite hits Cluster F-Bomb territory, but Adrien throws around a lot more profanity than in the original timeline.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: When her usual tactics don't work, Lila attempts to change things up... through slight altercations that are still functionally the same.
  • Where It All Began: Volpina takes down Ladybug and Chat Noir by the Eiffel Tower, and mentally notes how this was the site of her initial defeat.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy:
    • Lila assumes that Wishing for Adrien's life will grant her everything that he had: not just the Agreste wealth, but his fame, popularity, and Miraculous. As she finds out, none of these were as intrinsically tied to his position as she'd thought.
    • She also assumes that Adrien will remain exactly the same, without considering that his personality was shaped by his environment... or, for that matter, what might have made him into an Extreme Doormat in the first place.
