This work contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: Many of the collection's ficlets have Taylor gain powers much more offensively oriented than her canon bug-controlling abilities.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Some stories show Emma in a more heroic light. In Chaotic Pack, Flying Free and Chester she never undergoes the Faceā€“Heel Turn that made her a bully.
    • In Ride On, while still part of the Terrible Trio, Emma genuinely wants to still be Taylor's friend, and actively would work to mitigate some of their pranks. She even substituted Annette's flute for a duplicate.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: Most of the ficlets in the collection revolve around Taylor gaining a different power than she gained in canon.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Some versions of Taylor gain powers like blood or bone manipulation, but they're still good people.
  • Crossover: In some of the collection's ficlets, Taylor either interacts with characters from other settings, gains powers from those settings, or both.
  • Death by Adaptation:
  • Reincarnate in Another World: Beware the Dungeon Master, Demon Lord of the Swarm, Born Anew, Soul Transmigration, and Dragon Heart show Taylor being reincarnated in different fantasy worlds after Contessa shoots her. All of them have Taylor acquire magical powers of different kinds due to reincarnation, as well.
  • The Stations of the Canon: A significant portion of the ficlets in the collection have Taylor defeat Lung and save the Undersiders, just like in canon.
  • Variant Power Copying: In the stories where Taylor gains Trump powers, it's never just plain Power Copying, there's always a twist to it.
    • In At My Fingertips, Taylor can gain new powers from touching other parahumans, but the new powers tend to be rather limited in scope and ability compared to the originals. For example, she can't stop time with a touch like Clockblocker can after getting his power, but she can drastically decrease their temporal speed instead, slowing them to a crawl.
    • In Stand Proud, Taylor's Stand Khepri can gain new powers for each parahuman she comes within a certain radius of, but they're all tweaked in some way (in part to avoid too much redundancy with Khepri's natural Stand powers) and getting them permanently requires her to understand how it works. For example, Taylor's version of Mush's power lets her create a "Variable Golem" that can regenerate by absorbing the material it's made of from the environment.
