Fanfic / Little Ritsuka and her Loving Family

Go To

Little Ritsuka and her Loving Family is a Fate/Grand Order fanfiction by kamenhero25 in which Ritsuka is a ten-year-old girl. There's a collection of side stories called Glimpses of the Future. Inspired by these comics.

Word of God has confirmed that the story is on hiatus while he focuses on Fate/Harem Antics.

Tropes:

  • A Child Shall Lead Them: Ritsuka, despite being 10, is the only Chaldea Master available.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: In canon, Ritsuka and co. get into a short conflict with several French soldiers during the first singularity due to introducing themselves in English. Here, they instead have Mash introduce them in French explicitly to prevent Poor Communication Kills.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Kadoc's already petty grudge against Ritsuka comes across as even worse here since she's only 10 years old.
  • Age Lift: Ritsuka is significantly younger in this story than in canon, about 10.
  • All There in the Manual: How the author explains that this Ritsuka is from another reality, one with an Ataraxia-esque timeline, and ended up in the FGO timeline when Rin attempted to use the Second Magic to save her family from the incineration of history.
  • Alternate Self:
    • The EMIYA that Ritsuka summons in Fuyuki is not the Shirou that fathered her, but still cares for her.
    • Ritsuka summons the Lancer version of Cu in France, while already having the Caster version in the group. They're a bit weirded out when they see each other.
  • Badass Family: Given the title of the story, does this really need explaining? Her father is EMIYA and her mother is Ishtar, for starters.
  • Brain Bleach: EMIYA wants some after Queen Marie Antoinette makes a comment to Jeanne Alter that didn't come out right.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Rin/Ishtar defeats Saber Alter by blasting her while she was distracted fighting Saber, saying she let her guard down.
  • Curse Cut Short: Caster Cu almost drops an F-bomb, but stops himself when he remembers Ritsuka is present.
  • Decomposite Character: A variant. In Fate/Grand Order, Rin's body is used as a pseudo-servant for both Ishtar and Ereshkigal. Here, Ereshkigal bonds with Olga Marie to save her from being killed by Lev.
  • Death by Adaptation: Once Ereshkigal foils Lev's attempt to kill Olga Marie, she mercilessly kills Lev.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Roman really doesn't like to put a little girl on the frontlines, but Olga Marie reminds him that Ritsuka is the last remaining magus and as such their only option to save the world.
  • The Gadfly: Ritsuka inherited this from Rin - she tricks her mom into beating up Blackbeard via implying he asked her to pose in a sexual manner for him (it was actually a game of twister).
  • Generation Xerox: When Ritsuka says they have to save everyone, EMIYA groans that she is definitely Shirou's child.
  • Honorary Aunt:
    • Because of the connection between Ereshkigal and Olga Marie, Ereshkigal and Ishtar, and Ishtar and Rin, Ritsuka calls Olga Marie her aunt after Eresh and her fuse. Ritsuka also calls Rider Medusa her aunt.
    • She also treats Prisma Ilya as her aunt, since main timeline Ilya really is her adoptive aunt. Prisma Ilya...doesn't take it well.
  • I Have No Idea What I'm Doing: Saber says the relatively close "I have no idea what is going on" when she gets ready to fight Saber Alter after being summoned by Ritsuka, her adoptive daughter.
  • Language Barrier: When the group goes to France, the Grail fails to provide EMIYA and Ishtar with the basic information, so they cannot speak French. Mash and the others have to do the talking.
  • Lineage Comes from the Father: Inverted, Ritsuka is definitely Rin's daughter when it comes to magecraft.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: In omakes that detail on possible future stories such as the Cosmos in the Lostbelt chapters, no one outside of Chaldea is aware that Ritsuka is the master of so many servants and Ritsuka isn't aware of too many things going on that involved lots of politics either. Justified though, Ritsuka is a child. Chaldea doesn't want anyone outside to exploit her.
  • Long-Lost Relative: The idea is suggested that Jeanne and Arturia are distantly related when their resemblance is brought up.
  • Ma'am Shock: A variation - Prisma Ilya has this reaction when Ritsuka calls her 'Auntie' (since Fate's Ilya would be her adoptive Aunt) and pitifully says she's too young to be an aunt.
  • Marry Them All: Ritsuka's comments (namely, calling Rin, Arturia, and Sakura 'momma') imply that Shirou married all three of them. Word of God confirms this.
  • Mirror Match: Saber Alter is dealt with by summoning Saber.
  • Mistaken Identity: While in France, the soldiers mistake Saber for Jeanne Alter and nearly attacks the group before they are able to convince them she is not Jeanne. Also, when the soldiers describe the "Witch", Saber assumes they are talking about her sister Morgan Le Fay.note
  • Mythology Gag: Saber, upon meeting Jeanne, notes that "this explains so much". Evidently, she now understands why Giles thought she was Jeanne.
  • Non Action Protagonist: Justified, since Ritsuka is barely ten years old.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted with the two Cu versions, Olga Marie and Queen Marie, Saber and Saber Alter, and Jeanne and Jeanne Alter.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: An omake shows that Ritsuka's presence is enough to make Shirou and Archer put aside their differences for her sake.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: Jeanne Alter hates Jeanne for being a goody two shoes, while Jeanne hates her Alter for causing so much death and destruction, pointing out she never wanted revenge for being executed. This doesn't happen with Saber and Saber Alter, though, mostly because the former is too confused by everything else that is going on while the latter is too focused on the battle to care.
  • Parents Know Their Children: Inverted: when EMIYA is summoned, Ritsuka immediately jumps into his arms, in spite of him being a dark-skinned blond.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: In an omake set in the first Lostbelt, EMIYA tells Kadoc Zemlupus the reason why Ritsuka is the hero and not him or the other Crypters.
EMIYA: You're selfish. All of your ranting and raving ultimately comes back to your being jealous that you didn't get to be the big hero. Do you think Hercules wanted to take on his Twelve Labors that would leave him known as the single greatest hero of Greece? Or perhaps you should ask your Grand Duchess if she asked to be murdered so the Soviet Union could be born. But I'm guessing that thought never crossed your mind. For all of your complaining about Ritsuka being born into a noble family, you're more of a 'proper' magus than she ever will be. Because she actually cares about people and you couldn't give less of a damn about humanity. This is one massive ego trip while you try to convince yourself that you're not an abject failure.
    Kadoc: Don't you fu...
EMIYA: And you are. You and every single one of your so-called Crypters would have failed miserably attempting to save humanity. Because if they're even remotely like you, they would have gotten killed by one of your own Servants within a month and Chaldea would have collapsed. Because where Ritsuka is different from each and every one of you is that she listens, she understands, and she cares. [laughs] How does it feel to know an eleven year old has more social skills than you do? Because I don't think there's a single one of you who could have gotten Ishtar and Gilgamesh to sit in the same room without killing each other. Or half the Knights of the Round Table. Or had Jack the Ripper decide that she wants to be your sister. You would have thrown them away like trash, just like you would have thrown Mash away. Or all of humanity away. Until one of them decided to take it out on you rather than being used. You don't give a damn about anyone but you, much less about humanity as a whole. And that's exactly why you could never be qualified to save humanity. Olga-Marie has tried her best, but she made a mistake picking people like you.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Shirou and Rin become Ritsuka's parents in this fic. Saber and Sakura are also her moms.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: Rin is mortified to be summoned in Ishtar's bikini like outfit and immediately demands EMIYA's jacket to cover herself. Once they return to Chaldea, she puts on a practical outfit.
  • Sand In My Eyes: Little Ritsuka gives Olga Marie an omelet and officially declares that, since Olga Marie is a Demi Servant for Ereshkigal, Ereshkigal and Ishtar are siblings, and Rin is a Demi Servant for Ishtar, that officially makes Olga Marie her aunt. Olga Marie simply notes that Archer must have put some strange spices in her food to make her eyes water.
  • Sharing a Body: Because Rin managed to negotiate things with Ishtar before being summoned, she has more influence over their shared body, and the latter tends to let her be out without much fuss when Ritsuka is around. Ereshkigal was also in there with them, but they merged her with Olga Marie to save her.
    • How you may ask? Rin forced her body to punch itself in the face until Ishtar handed over control.
    • One of the side stories indicates this is also the case with Shirou and Muramasa.
  • Shipper on Deck: Lancer Cu gets a big grin when he sees that Shirou and Rin had a child.
  • Spared by the Adaptation:
    • In this fic, they manage to save Olga Marie by fusing her with Ereshkigal in a similar manner to Rin and Ishtar. Given that Part II of the story reveals Olga Marie is Beast VII, this has some massive implications in the future.
    • While in canon, Caster Cu faded away once the Fuyuki Singularity was dealt with, here he manages to form a contract with Ritsuka and join the group in Chaldea.
  • Squishy Wizard: Olga Marie gets embarrassed because she runs out breath trying to travel through Fuyuki while a child like Ritsuka can do it easily, noting that she should have exercised while practicing her magecraft. Merging with Ereshkigal presumably fixed her stamina issues.
  • Stop Hitting Yourself: How Rin gets Ishtar to hand control of their shared body over when needed.
  • This Cannot Be!: Lev screams it is impossible when Ishtar and Ereshkigal manage to save Olga Marie.
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • EMIYA has this reaction when he learns that Ritsuka is waiting for her mother. Considering that Ritsuka is the spitting image of her mom, Rin, he knows how much of an earful he is going to get.
    • He has another one shortly afterwards when Rin demands that he give her his clothes.
    • Seeing the two moments mentioned above provokes this reaction from Olga Marie.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Ereshkigal tells Lev that his manipulating Olga Marie's heart, killing her, and then trying to destroy her soul is unforgivable before killing him.
  • That Came Out Wrong: Queen Marie declares she will claim both Jeanne and Jeanne Alter's hearts. When everyone gets taken aback by this, she says she meant she will make both of them kneel and acknowledge her as their Queen.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Lev seriously underestimates Ritsuka's skills as a Master.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: EMIYA and Shirou (the latter of whom is Sharing a Body with Muramasa) still do not get along, but they are willing to play nice (and even pretend that their feud does not exist) whenever Ritsuka is around.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Ritsuka, obviously enough. She considers Chaldea's orientation speech to be boring.
