How angel met imp is a Helluva Boss alternate universe fanfiction by An_undead_gamer_45 and Thelunchking on Archive of Our Own.

When helping Millie and Moxxie move to a new apartment, Blitzo discovers an old picture of Moxxie from several years before he had started working for I.M.P. and discovers that the the thespian wasn't a native denizen of hell...he used to be an angel.

Demanding an explanation, Moxxie and Millie weave the tale of how Moxxie went from being a straight laced choir boy to the gun-toting demon he is today...which is also the story of how the two of them first met and fell in love.

the story can be found here.

How Angel Met Imp provides examples of:

  • After Action Patch Up: Often performed by Moxxie to Millie when she arrive home from her time at the local fight club, but most notably in chapter 7 where he cleans her wounds and absentmindedly compliments her which prevents her from telling him he needs to leave.
  • Almost Kiss: Happens in chapter 8 after a rough night at the club. The kiss being interrupted by Moxxie vomiting all over Millie, getting some of it in her mouth as a result.
  • Angel/Devil Shippinginvoked: A very literal example as the story has Moxxie the angel falling in love with Millie the imp, it's also downplayed in that while Millie is far less moral than Moxxie she's still pretty kindhearted as far as demons go.
  • Anger Born of Worry: After Moxxie sneaks out of the apartment to see Millie fight, the imp chews him out for making such a wreckless decision before calming down and saying she's just glad he's okay.
  • Break His Heart to Save Him: Millie attempts to do this in chapter 7, knowing she needs to kick Moxxie out to prevent herself from getting too attached to him and getting them both in a tough spot, but fails to do so when Moxxie continuously showers her with kindness and causes her to chicken out of it entirely.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Millie decides to spare Moxxie and keep him safe after their initial encounter with the promise of angelic weapons, but makes it clear that she will kill him if he proves to be too much trouble...until she comes around to him that is.
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: Being an angel who found himself stranded in Hell by accident, he is surrounded by sin and temptation and it gets progressively harder for him to ignore it. It also doesn't help that he winds up being sexually attracted to Millie and she is more than willing to reciprocate.
  • Entendre Failure: Because of his innocent upbringing in heaven, Moxxie completely misunderstands many of the innuendos Millie uses:
Millie: "For someone whos got a name like [Moxxie], you sure do run like a pussy when trouble shows its pretty little head"
Moxxie: "I don’t understand? Isn't it normal for a feline to run at the sight of danger? And what’s even more confusing is that you're comparing me to a feline to begin with, am I supposed to be flattered or insulted?"
  • Fallen Angel: Moxxie is implied to have become this.
  • Fish out of Water: being an angel in hell makes Moxxie a solid fit for this category, all the sin around him leaving him shocked and appalled on a daily basis.
  • Forbidden Love: Love between an angel and a demon is all kinds of taboo, even Millie acknowledges it:
Not only was it unheard of, but it went against the natural order of the universe itself. If word got out that she was getting romantically involved with [an angel], she didn’t even want to think about the horrible consequences that she’d have to suffer at the hands of Hell’s higher-ups. They’ve condemned imps to eternal torment for far lesser crimes than laying with one of Hell’s sworn enemies.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Seeing as most of the story is Millie and Moxxie re-telling the events that led to them meeting and getting together to Blitzo and Loona, it’s already guaranteed that Moxxie will transform into a demon and marry Millie.
  • Friendless Background: Growing up in heaven, Moxxie's only friend was Zachriel due to his fascination with Hell alienating his peers.
  • Good Samaritan: despite the fact that Millie threatened him upon their first meeting and is only keeping him safe with the promise of an angelic weapon, Moxxie still goes out of her way to help her with chores around the apartment and be genuinely kind to her as much as he can.
  • Grand Romantic Gesture: Moxxie performs one of these completely by accident when he prepares a candlelit dinner based off the recipes Millie's family used to prepare back home, having figured them out from the imp's stories, as a way of cheering her up; which is followed up by Moxxie giving Millie a handmade dress that fit her perfectly and ends up winning Millie over. The angel is COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS to how it makes Millie really feel
  • I Didn't Mean to Turn You On: Every kind act Moxxie performs in his initial days with Millie are examples of this, from cleaning her apartment to cooking for her to making a handmade dress, Moxxie doesn't realize that he's causing a demon to fall in love with him by simply showing her some compassion.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: When Moxxie watches Millie participate in a no-holds barred fighting match, he is immediately enraptured by the violent acts she commits in the ring which is what leads to him developing feelings for her.
  • Inconvenient Attraction: Millie is horrified to learn that she's falling for Moxxie, seeing as dating an angel would bring her untold amounts of trouble if word ever got out. But eventually she gives into the temptation and starts her seduction attempts towards the angel.
  • Interspecies Romance: love between an angel and a demon, it's fairly self explanatory.
  • Like a Duck Takes to Water: Moxxie was not only able to get multiple perfect bullseyes on his first go at handling a gun, he winds up getting an uncharacteristic adrenaline rush off of it.
  • Love Epiphany: Millie has one of these after having a romantic dream about Moxxie...she wasn't happy about it. Moxxie later has the same revelation after watching a hella novella and has more or less that same reaction as Millie.
  • Meet Cute: the term 'cute' is used loosely here, seeing as their first interaction had Millie nearly slitting Moxxie's throat to get revenge for all the family members she's lost to exterminators.
  • No Biological Sex:Implied. Because Moxxie confirms he did not have parents in the same sense as an imp would, Blitzo sincerely asks if Moxxie had/has genitals as a former angel. Moxxie simply refuses to answer.
  • Romantic Candlelit Dinner: Moxxie sets one of these up for Millie as a sort of apology for some perceived slight he doesn't recall which he assumed was the reason Millie was acting distant. (which it wasn't).
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: The primary reason Millie ends up falling in love with Moxxie is that he can't help but be sweet and kind to her all the time despite having little reason to.
  • Slow Transformation: It’s shown that the process of Moxxie turning into an imp is already starting when he puts on his demon disguise and thinks to himself he needs less white hair die than usual. Later he notes that in addition to his paling hair, his blue skin has gained a purplish hue and the halo on his had has dimmed. None of this alarms Moxxie, dismissing it as a trick of the light.
  • Start of Darkness: This story is implied to be one to Moxxie, covering the events that caused him to transform from an angel to a demon and be banished to hell. Unlike most examples, however, this one is viewed in a much softer and more positive light.
  • Supreme Chef: Moxxie is regarded as this by Millie, in fact the delicious food he makes is one of the reasons she loves having him around.
  • Take That!: Hell's TV is composed mainly of sex, violence, sexual violence, telanovellas and "some strange cartoon about technicolor ponies."
  • Through His Stomach: Moxxie ends up winning Millie over with a massive feast of dishes from her farm in the Wrath Ring.
