- The local PETA members are thinly-veiled copies of South Park characters (Mr. Harrison and Mr. Sock being stand-ins for Mr. Garrison and his hand puppet Mr. Hat, Dan Swamp being a parody of Stan Marsh, Lyle Bernstein being an ersatz of Kyle Broflovski, Bobby Swirlz based on Butters Scotch, and representations of Jimmy and Timmy who have their given names swapped), and the Animal Liberation Front spokesman Aaron Crapman is clearly based on Eric Cartman.
- Don Gooseson is a parody of Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation.
- Homage: The author wrote this fic in the style of a classic South Park episode.
- Jerkass Has a Point: As condescending as he is, Don Gooseson makes some good points about how the meat industry has helped animals, and he turns out to be right about PETA's shelters.
- Moral Myopia: The Animal Liberation Front and PETA claim that it's perfectly moral for them to kill animals and that killing animals is only bad if non-vegans do it.
- Naked People Are Funny: In one chapter, Beast Boy agrees to appear naked in public while pretending to be barbecued as part of one of PETA's protests, with much humor derived from Raven chewing out her boyfriend for committing indecent exposure just because PETA says it's okay.
- Real-Person Fic: Ingrid Newkirk, Founder and President of PETA, plays the Big Bad.
- Shout-Out:
- Loads of South Park references. It even gets to the point of having Raven and Beast Boy adopt a chicken named Kenny as a pet primarily as a set-up to reference the "Oh my God! They killed Kenny" Running Gag when they find out about PETA's kill shelters.
- The story opens up with a parody of Beggin' Strips commercials.
- Beast Boy's Let's Player sign-off references those of Jacksepticeye and Markiplier.
- Chapter 3 opens with Beast Boy playing an XCOM game, and ends with Cyborg quoting The Call of Cthulhu.
- "Bobby Swirlz" is possibly a reference to Bobby's World.
- Shown Their Work: All the stupid and shitty things that PETA does, and mentions doing, in this story are based on their real-world actions.
- Stealth Sequel: Raven revealing that she is the host for The Spectre means this takes place in the aftermath of the author's previous work New Tamaran.
- Take That!:
- Towards PETA, unsurprisingly. The fic exists largely to condemn their practices and to spell out how their methods are hypocritical, counterproductive and do little aside from insulting and causing harm to those who disagree with them.
- The eighth chapter is titled "Vegan Gains" and has Aaron Crapman devise a plan to convert Jump City's meat-eaters by tricking them into eating burgers made of their pets. This is likely a jab at Vegan Gains, a vegan YouTuber who is notorious for making violent threats towards non-vegans and being abusive to his own pets.
- Waxing Lyrical: After transforming into The Spectre, Raven quotes the chorus of "The Vengeful One" by Disturbed.
