Go To

After failing to elicit any reform from the uncooperative atheist, Being X sends young Tanya to another world. One of greater hardship in hopes the trials she will face will make her repent for her irreligiousness. However this world is one of many gods. One whom will soon open a gate to a world that the reincarnated soul remembers quite clearly.

A Young Woman's New Life as an Imperial Princess is a The Saga of Tanya the Evil/Gate Crossover Fan Fic written by Midasman.

A Young Woman's New Life as an Imperial Princess has the following tropes:

  • Adaptation Personality Change: In the canon Gate series, Emperor Molt is nothing more than The Caligula who only cares about his own power, rules the Empire with an iron fist, and treats everyone around him (even his children) as expendable pawns. Here, while still ruthless to have his stepson tortured to death and forcing Zorzal and Diablo to watch it, Molt is much more pragmatic of his schemes and aware of the immense power he wields as the Emperor.
  • Adaptational Badass: The Saderan Empire slowly gets this treatment in fic despite being technologically inferior to the Japanese Ground-Self Defense Forces. While the JSDF still unleashes a brutal Curb-Stomp Battle in retaliation for the Imperial Soldiers invading and kidnapping Japanese Citizens, the Empire managed to steal some of their weapons for analysis, with Tanya "instantly" demonstrating how to operate them thanks to her Past-Life Memories. By chapter 18, the Praetorian Guards managed to enhance their shields with magic to No-Sell gunfire, much to Kuribayashi's surprise.
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance: Given that the setting takes place in a fantastical version of the Roman Empire, a lot of things would be considered and seen as morally wrong by modern standards.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: For all of Zorzal's many faults, even at his worst, he genuinely cares for Tanya's well-being in his own way. Though, unfortunately for him, this is completely one-sided as 1) Tanya's a child with an adult mind carried with Past-Life Memories, 2) is a very efficient and logical person (which would put her at odds with Zorzal's arrogant, indulgent, and short-sighted personality), and 3) is rather lacking in the empathy department.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: As Tanya accurately notes, the Saderan Empire of Falmart is the The Roman Empire in a Medieval European Fantasy setting.
  • Heir Club for Men: Fitting for the Empire's culture and government system resembling the Roman Empire, males tend to be the ones who would inherit the highest positions with women being a rarity. Fortunately, as the Emperor's true-born daughter, Tanya can easily navigate her way in the Empire's patriarchal hierarchy system.
  • Hey, You!: Like the Gate series, the Empire labels anyone who is not part of them a "barbarian" (i.e. someone who is not part of the Saderan Empire or speaks their language, therefore a "foreigner").
  • Hopeless War: As the second arc of the story is accurately titled, "A Hopeless War", the Saderan Empire's invasion of Japan on the other side of the Gate is a losing war in the long run.
  • Instant Expert: As everyone scratches their heads upon looking through the recovered weapons of the JSDF and seeing how they work, Tanya showcases her aptitude by easily operating a handgun. Justified due to Tanya still possessing her second life's Past-Life Memories as a soldier.
  • Mistaken for Special Guest: As Tanya finds out while searching and freeing the enslaved Japanese citizens in Falmart, three of them were mistaken for Japanese nobles due to their cosplay and were greatly accommodated by the Empire.
  • Parental Favoritism: Ironically, out of all his children, Emperor Malt is quite affectionate towards his youngest child, Tanya.
  • Reincarnate in Another World: The premise of the fic is that Tanya has been reincarnated into another world again.
  • Reckless Gun Usage: Justified. Since the Imperial Army had little idea how the modern weapons of the JSDF worked, some of the soldiers were wounded and killed upon handling them, according to Senator Godasen. Luckily, Tanya's tutelage on how to operate them lessen this risk.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: This applies to all members of the Empire's royal family, even Zorzal who managed to defeat and enslave the Bunny Warriors after years of his family being unable to...despite the cost being very steep for the military and citizens.
  • Too Proud for Lowly Work: As Tanya finds out after freeing some of the Bunny Warriors from slavery, they turned their nose down on doing anything that would be beneath their status as warriors. Though, luckily for Tanya, they're currently Too Desperate to Be Picky.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Tanya thinks she's dealing with the Japan of her world. Not the naked Right-Wing Imperialistic Japan from the Gate universe.
