A Phantom's Love and Courage is a crossover fanfiction written by Flower princess11.

Danny Phantom is sent to Japan by Clockwork to team up with the Sailor Guardians against a new, upcoming threat. However, a new friendship with one of the Guardian's civilian forms may become result in something greater.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Kiss: Sailor Jupiter slips on a can, accidentally landing her mouth on Danny's. They're both quickly flustered.
  • Actually Pretty Funny:
    • Even Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask's loving girlfriend, Sailor Mercury, the most mature of the group, and Sailor Mars, who is the most distrusting of him, find Danny's less than flattering "suggestions" of a new name for Mamoru hilarious, much to his displeasure.
    • Even Luna can't resist teasing Artemis by calling him "Arty" like Danny does.
  • Amazon Chaser: Danny finds himself attracted greatly to Makoto for her fighting prowess and bravery after she defended him against a group of thugs.
  • Ascended Extra: The Genius Locii are unconnected entities that serves as filler villains in the manga, with only one appearing in animated form. A group of them serve as the villains in this story.
  • Atrocious Alias: Danny openly calls Tuxedo Mask "the dumbest name for a superhero [he] ever heard", even more than Amity Park calling him "Inviso-Bill". Tuxedo Mask points out that just changing the last syllable of his actual name doesnt make Danny's much better.
  • Badass Normal: Even without her Senshi powers, Makoto is a black belt who can easily defeat a gang of thugs without much problem.
  • Betty and Veronica: Danny has Ship Tease with both Makoto (the more down-to-Earth Betty) and Minako (the excitable and more boy-crazy Veronica).
  • Blunt "Yes": Clockwork flatly says, "Yes" when Sailor Pluto asks if he must always be smug as he's vague.
  • Chick Magnet: Makoto and Minako become interested in Danny.
  • Condescending Compassion: Artemis finds it degrading that Danny would talk to him like he's a toddler, he especially doesn't like it when the ghost boy calls him "Arty".
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Danny encounters a Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl akin to Sadako or Kayako. In a proper Japanese horror movie, she would be the Invincible Big Bad. However, beings like the two aforementioned examples were entities that never encountered equally powerful beings who could give them physical harm. Thus, instead of a threat to Danny, she's depicted as a pathetic loser unused to being pushed around.
  • Dislikes the New Guy: Out of all the Sailor Guardians, Rei/Sailor Mars distrusts Danny Phantom the most.
  • Dramatic Irony: When Danny tells Sailor Jupiter about the girl he met as a civilian, neither of them suspects Sailor Jupiter is said girl.
  • Embarrassing Nickname:
    • Danny likes to insult Tuxedo Mask by calling him "Butler-Man".
    • Artemis does NOT appreciate being called "Arty" by Danny and Luna.
  • Expy: In Japan, Danny faces a Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl based on Sadako or Kayako.
  • The Gadfly: Danny at first calls Artemis "Arty" as a nickname but after learning he can talk just does it to annoy him since he clearly hates it. Luna joins in on the teasing too.
  • Gentle Giant: Makoto is very tall and strong, but she is also very sweet, and kind, which Danny notices.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Minako and Makoto fight over Danny after they find out each other's respective secret identities.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: Even if Tuxedo Mask is right that Danny doesn’t have any room to mock him for his name given his own Lazy Alias it doesn’t change the fact that Danny is correct about Tuxedo Mask being an Atrocious Alias.
  • Irony: In Chapter 13, when Danny and Makoto are getting to know each other better, each one mistakenly believes the other wouldn't like the idea of it being a date.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: After Danny mocks Tuxedo Mask's superhero name, he points out that Danny's is just his own name with "Phantom" at the end rather than his actual name. But Danny just rolls his eyes and mocks him some more.
  • Language Barrier: Danny doesn't speak Japanese so Clockwork gave him a necklace that translates it for him and translates his speech into Japanese.
  • Love at First Sight: Danny seems to fall for Makoto not long after meeting her, attracted to her for both her looks and her fighting skills.
  • Love Triangle: A potential one seems to be forming between Danny, Makoto and Minako.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • No Guy Wants an Amazon: Makoto seems to be unaware of Danny's growing crush on her, largely due to this trope.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: The Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl Danny meets would be a dangerous threat to regular humans but against a powerful ghost like Danny she's just a nuisance.
  • Oblivious to Love: Makoto is unaware of Danny's growing crush on her, assuming that he is just being kind to her out of friendliness and gratitude.
  • Shipper on Deck: Usagi seems to be the most vocal about shipping Makoto with Danny.
  • Shout-Out: When Clockwork describes the Sailor Guardians as heroes in sailor uniforms, Danny asks if they're like Popeye.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Minako and Makoto like Danny for being a Nice Guy.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Makoto is very tall for a girl, but Danny still finds her attractive.
  • Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl: Danny faces one of these in Japan.
  • Supreme Chef: Just like in canon, Makoto is a great cook. Danny even compliments her cooking after she shares her lunch with him.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Sailor Mars and Tuxedo Mask do not enjoying working with Danny, and the feeling is completely mutual.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Makoto is much taller than Danny, but her size doesn't make his attraction to her lessen in any way.
  • Villainous Breakdown: The Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl has one after losing to Danny.
  • A Wizard Did It: The translator necklace works because it's magical.
