  • A variant appears in Archer, consisting of about a dozen rapid-fire slaps about the face with both hands, a Beat, then a single stronger whack to the back of the head.

  • Butt-Head from Beavis and Butt-Head does this to Beavis on a regular basis, which sometimes leads Beavis to retaliate.
  • The Boondocks:
    • When Grandad gets the results of a DNA test that confirms Lando Freeman as his real son.
      Riley: [to grandad] You should've stuck with your story!
      Grandad: They took a DNA test—
      Riley: Well study next time!
      [Huey dope-slaps Riley with a book]
    • Combined with Punctuated! For! Emphasis! after Riley, Gin and Ed's failed attempt to kidnap Oprah.

  • The Bugs Bunny Merrie Melodies cartoon Wackiki Wabbit features this trope with the two castaways.
  • Exaggerated in Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers. Dale gets conked on the head a lot by Chip. This was inherited from the original Classic Disney Shorts where they appeared.
  • Codename: Kids Next Door:
    • Numbuh Five dope-slaps Numbuh Four after the latter ate some Coco Nut Logs despite being allergic to coconut.
    • She does the same to Numbuh Two at the end of "Operation: R.A.B.B.I.T." after he makes yet another pun, whipping off her hat and whacking him with it.
  • DC Animated Universe:
    • Justice League:
      • In the episode "Kids Stuff", Wonder Girl does this to Superboy when he gets distracted by how cool GL's glasses look.
        Superboy: Cool!
        Wonder Girl: [dope slap] Would you stop messing around?!
      • John Stewart is also fond of doing this to The Flash (who often earns it), as seen in "The Brave and the Bold" when Stewart gets Flash out of jail.
      • In the Cold Open of "Date Night", two goons argue over a scone recipe.
        Cecil: But how come when I make the scones, they don't got that good flavor like yours, Tony?
        Tony: [dope slap] Do I gotta tell you again how you gotta add the orange zest, Cecil?
    • In the New Batman Adventures Christmas Episode "Holiday Knights", Bullock and Montoya are staking out a department store in the guise of the store Santa and a Christmas elf. When one of the kids declares that Bullock isn't the real Santa, he responds, "Sure I am — wanna see my gun?", earning a smack from Montoya.
  • In Clone High, when Abe he realizes he loves Joan in the series finale, he proceeds to ask Gandhi whether his feelings could be reciprocated. This leads to a flashback montage of all the times Joan has blatantly shown interest in him, followed by an unamused Gandhi slapping him in the face.
    Abe: ..I see.
  • In series 9 and 10 of Danger Mouse, Baron Greenback would activate a "Hit Box" which bonks Stiletto with a mallet when he says something stupid.
    Stiletto: (after each bonk) Ow...ow...and ow!
  • In Ed, Edd n Eddy Eddy often slaps Ed to make him pay attention or when he makes him angry.
  • Family Guy:
    • In one episode, Peter tells the family that their tax refund will let them buy something they've always wanted. Chris suggests a cat and gets dope-slapped by Brian. Meg suggests a stereo and gets dope-slapped by Stewie. Then Lois says "A pool?" and gets dope-slapped by Peter, who then realizes what she said and responds "Oh, sorry, it is a pool."
    • There's another early episode, where Peter loses his job and goes on welfare. When he tells Brian he got off subject by telling Lois she was getting fat, Brian rolls up the newspaper and whacks him twice saying "No. No."
    • Peter also re-enacts the "could've had a V8" dope slap on himself in the middle of recalling various memories in the episode when he learned of his real father.
    • Exaggerated in "If I'm Dyin', I'm Lyin'"; when an NBC board member suggests adding something new and original to the lineup, another one takes a poster frame off the wall and beats him to death with it.
  • "Mom" on Futurama frequently dope-slaps her children, occasionally all three of them at once. Being Expys of The Three Stooges, they often do it to each other as well.
  • Mandy and sometimes Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy often slap Billy if his stupidity annoys them or majorly screws up.
  • As opposed to a full-handed slap, Uncle of Jackie Chan Adventures delivers a hard, two-finger hit to the forehead for anyone whose foolishness has earned his disapproval. Be they Jackie (many times — "One more thing!", even when he does something right), allies, enemies, or even himself.
  • On Kaeloo, Pretty does this to Stumpy whenever he does something stupid (which is quite often).
  • The Looney Tunes Show:
    • Bugs Bunny does this to Porky Pig once. When Porky keeps falling for upsells, Bugs facepalms so much that after Porky listens to him... and refuses to get insurance, he realizes that his forehead's starting to bruise. Finally, after Porky crashes the car, Bugs stops his facepalms and slaps Porky instead.
    • He also does this to Daffy when he freezes in shock. But Daffy being Daffy, he returns the slap until it turns into a slap fight.
  • The Mighty Mouse cartoon "Law and Order" has three ne'er-do-well cats — a short one, a middle-sized one with a crooked tail and the dense behemoth who is identified as Pinhead Schlabotka. As they carry out a plot:
    Schlabotka: Duh, hey boss... what's this all about? [Boss slaps him several times]
    Boss: Listen. Schlabotka. I do the thinkin' around here, see?
    Schlabotka: But, duh, boss... [Boss slaps him more] Duh... all right.
  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic:
    • In "Hurricane Fluttershy", Twilight Sparkle gives twice a dope slap to Spike (flattening the green fin atop his head) for being Innocently Insensitive to Fluttershy.
    • "Twilight's Kingdom – Part 1":
      • Applejack gives one to Spike when he complains about the simple job Twilight does at the beginning of the episode, then tries to backpedal on his statement.
      • Rainbow Dash tossing Discord's "alicorn princess" crown from his head is also quite close to a dope slap.
  • Skipper's trademark in The Penguins of Madagascar. When Skipper is presumed dead, Private asks the others to slap him the way Skipper does; "Like you're disappointed, but you still care."
  • Brain from Pinky and the Brain often does this to Pinky after he's said or done something particularly stupid. Usually he pounds him over the head with his fist or an object.
    Brain: [to Pinky] I'm going to have to hurt you.
  • The Powerpuff Girls (1998):
    • After their resurrection, Brick of the Rowdyruff Boys often hits Boomer after he interrupts him or says something stupid.
    • Ace of the Gangreen Gang also does this to Snake on a regular basis to shut him up. When Buttercup temporarily joins their gang, she starts doing this to him.
    • Mrs. Smith gives one to her husband about his reaction to being shown the newly modified family car to kill the girls.
  • In Regular Show, Mordecai does this to Rigby whenever he says something stupid and/or dickish, though instead of a slap, it's a punch. In "The Power", Mordecai tells Benson that they sent Skips to the moon, and Rigby attempts to dope-punch him, but fails because he's too weak to send the message. Mordecai responds by dope-punching him back.
  • Ren from The Ren & Stimpy Show does this to Stimpy on a semi-regular basis after he's said something really stupid.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants:
    • From "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V":
      Barnacle Boy: If you don't respect me as a hero, the you'll respect me as a villain. A villain who's EVIL!!
      SpongeBob: Evil?
      The rest: Evil?
      Mermaid Man: [blankly stares, then dope-slapped by Mr. Krabs] EVIIIL!!!
    • After it's revealed near the end of "Squid Noir" that the jellyfish stole Squidward's clarinet, SpongeBob makes a joke that "crime doesn't play". Patrick promptly nails him with a hard slap.
  • Star Wars Rebels: Happens twice in "Ghosts of Geonosis":
    • At the beginning, Sabine gives one to Ezra when he asks about the secret mission, despite having already been told it's a secret.
    • Imperial Captain Brunson delivers one to her helmsman after he informs her their rocket troopers have suffered heavy casualties, and when she asks how many he sheepishly answers "All of them."
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
    • Annoying Younger Sibling Michelangelo gets these from Raphael on a regular basis.
      Raph: Woah, Donny, don't hit Mikey. That's MY job.
    • In one instance of particular annoyance, Leonardo restrains Raph from doing this... so he can smack Mikey himself.
      Mikey: OW! Et tu, Leo?
    • An episode of the "Fast Forward" season has Splinter taking it to the extreme, tipping Mikey's chair over so he could hit him with the entire floor.
      Splinter: Someone had to do it. It was time.
  • On the Tom Slick segment of George of the Jungle, Baron Otto Matic will reach over and hit his minion Clutcher with a wrench, no matter how far away the Baron is.
  • Transformers:
  • Ultimate Spider-Man:
    • After defeating Green Goblin together, Spider-Man then proposes names for his and Venom's temporary team-up. Venom quickly tires of this, hits Spidey, and tells him to shut up.
    • White Tiger does it once to Nova. Since he's wearing his helmet at the time, it makes a nice KLONG sound.
  • Dick Dastardly to Muttley on Wacky Races. Usually, Dick's retaliation for Muttley snickering at him comes by a bop on the head, dumping water on him, or other variations.
  • Young Justice:
    • Aqualad prompts Robin to stop laughing outright at Superboy's failure with a sharp elbow to the ribs. One gets the feeling that it would have been a smack upside the head were Aqualad a less reserved person.
    • Artemis delivers one to Kid Flash when he won't stop flirting with Miss Martian.
