I'm gonna make a drink.

Can I come over
Or you come here
I wish that this would disappear
Can I come over
Or you come here
If I go to sleep can I wake up in a different year

Nicholas Hamilton (born May 4, 2000 is Lismore, New South Wales) is an Australian actor, singer, and mixologist.

Tropes associated with Hamilton:

  • Accent On The Wrong Syllable: He tends to pronounce lemon and orange as "lemon" and "orange".
  • Blatant Lies: His video for "Spooky Stabby Tall Man" begins with him saying that he doesn't know what happens in scary movies - even though he's well known for It: Chapter One and had just finished filming the horror movie Creepers a few months prior.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: If he ever has guests, they tend to end the video with glasses on instead of Nic. There's also the "Head Over Hells", where Nic's boyfriend Jackson does it after swapping outfits and being dubbed over by him.
  • Catchphrase:
    • Always cleans up partway through making his drinks "Because we're respectful in this house."
  • Companion Cube: His hat-wearing lamp Phillip, which sits right next to his bar and can change colours.
  • Curse Cut Short: Instead of his usual catchphrase, Nic ends the video for "Gay Pornstar Martini" (which he did for Pride Month) with "I'm a fa-"
  • Death Glare: He gives one to a bottle of mustard during the "Dijon Sour" video because he's just so flabbergasted that it's an ingredient.
  • Earn Your Title: He doesn't name the cocktails he makes unless he decides they're good.
  • Flair Bartending: He gained viral fame in late 2021 for his mixology tiktoks, where his soothing voice and explanation of what he's doing was coupled with his skill at putting together both new and classic drinks.
  • Glasses Pull: There are some drinks that impress him so much (like "Dreary Day's Night") that he pulls his glasses off for the rest of the video.
  • Growing Up Sucks: The message of the song "Pretty Young", where he admits that even though he's still very young himself he knows life is moving very quickly and he already misses his carefree childhood.
    And I'm still pretty young
I lose memories just for fun.
Count friends on just the one,
Although I rarely see the sun
    I'm gonna miss these days.
  • Inherently Funny Words: He'll zoom in on his face whenever he says the word "cock" in "cocktail" or "concoction".
    • He also makes a "Fuzzy Charlie II" from Seagram's Bartending Guide solely because it had the silliest name in the book.
  • Insistent Terminology: He always gives things a "cheeky little" stir in his videos.
  • Joke and Receive: In "Rhubarb Gin Sour", he explains that you should separate out your egg white over the shaker tin that doesn't have the liquid in it, "just in case you fuck it up like you do most things". He then immediately goes to slam it onto the other half and spills the egg white across the bartop because he forgot he put it in there.
  • Milestone Celebration:
    • He made a cocktail for the anniversary of his single "Different Year" being released.
    • He also made a Million Years cocktail for when he got a million followers on tiktok.
    • He recreated his first video (Martini Negra) for its first year anniversary and spends it discussing how much has changed since he started the videos. He did it again for his 100th drink video, but mixed up the ingredients a little.
  • Palette Swap: Some drinks he makes are traditional cocktails with one key ingredient swapped for another, like the "Rhubarb Gin Sour" (rhubarb instead of raspberry) or the "Country & Western" (a piƱa colada with orange instead of lime).
  • Record Needle Scratch: One interrupts his usual calm backing track during "Dijon Sour" because it's made with mustard, of all things.
  • Running Gag: A few have popped up in his mixology videos.
    • Forgetting to chill his glass.
    • "Calm down about the fucking raw eggs."
    • Saying something is Australian or a little fruity, like all good things.
    • "Sorry for touching you" when he grabs an ingredient from behind the camera.
    • Tossing an orange, lemon, or lime in the air and declaring it's "from the sky"
    • Referring to his ice bucket as "grandma and her cold cold bones", and sometimes yelling at her.
  • Straight Gay: He's been openly gay for most of his life, never coming out so much as confirming it to the public. He certainly doesn't come off that way at first glance, which he jokes about in one of his tiktoks.
I feel like I'm not...gay enough. *Beat* Like I...I do gay things (you don't need to know). *beat* Maybe I should paint my nipples?
  • Strictly Formula: In his mixology videos he has his explanation of shaking a drink down to a science: liquid into ice, bit of a slam *slam*, start slow, build up the pressure, suctions itself together, and then we really just go for it.
  • Stunned Silence: There's a long shocked glance during "Black Cat" when he firmly sets the wine glass down on his counter - and the stem snaps in half.
  • Sucks at Dancing: Played up in his tiktoks - whenever he tries to make a dance for one of his songs they result in awkward, stilted motions.
  • Suddenly Shouting: The "Dijon Sour" video is often interrupted by Nic yelling about the fucking mustard that's a key ingredient of the titular cocktail.
  • Take That!: He tends to call out a lot of suggested ingredients for being low quality, and recommends substituting either home made or higher quality alternatives.
  • Tastes Like Purple: He describes the flavour of the "Crisp Apple Cocktail" as if a sour apple Warhead got head and produced a liquid.
If that sounds like something you'd like to try...get help!
  • That Came Out Wrong: Occasionally slips out during his mixology videos.
    • When he started shaking his Glorified Red Bull he initially started doing it...suggestively, before stopping himself.
    • He did the same gesture for Espresso Martini. "Don't do that. Naughty!" He also mentions "screwing the friend" when explaining his coffee maker before backpedalling.
    • From the Old Fashioned.
Take your muddler - I promise it's a muddler. What else would it be?
    • From Christmas Cocktails, "do a little bit of teabagging. With your teabag, don't be naughty."
    • For a whiskey sour, "it's worth it to squeeze your own lemons. Stop it". He also adds a bit of wine to his version, and the bottle he chose has an exposed cork. "And who doesn't like an exposed cork?" *beat, shakes head* "Stop it."
    • When tasting the cream of coconut for Different Year. "It looks like something else. ''*wink* Promise it's not."
    • The "Naked Floral Sex" has plenty, probably because the cocktail was made by his boyfriend. On top of declaring he's making it "not like that (at least not between us)", he also pauses his suggestive shaking movement when he says it reminds him of something.
    • Commenting that many of the drinks from Seagram's Bartending Guide tend to have very small yields, he says "I guess in the old days they liked to drink little boys. Don't take that out of context."
  • Umbrella Drink: He's made a Pina Colada and his own cocktail, a Different year, which are both what he calls "tiki drinks". Instead of adding an umbrella, he adds a little plastic guy who hangs off the edge of the glass.
  • The Unsmile: He got a comment that he should smile while he's shaking his drinks, so occasionally he plants one of these on.
  • Your Mom: In the video for "Peachy Keen", he describes the recipe as sounding "very old and very simple, much like your mum!" And then awkwardly smiles for a moment before moving on.

Good evening.
...
I've got glasses on!
