My Little Pony Classics Reimagined: Little Fillies is a four-issue comic written by Megan Brown and drawn by Jenna Ayoub. The story is an adaptation of the book Little Women.

Magic Student Meg (Twilight Sparkle), Tomboy Jo (Rainbow Dash), Shy Beth (Fluttershy) and Fashion-Conscious Amy (Rarity) are sisters who all wish for life outside their town of Broncord, Massahoofetts. All four want to leave their peaceful hometown in order to follow their dreams. When their neighbour Laurie (Applejack) tells them tales of her time in Appleloosa, the March Sisters dare to dream for more.

My Little Pony Classics Reimagined: Little Fillies contain examples of:

  • Accidental Misnaming: A running gag is Amy naming something wrong with Meg constantly correcting her.
  • Aerith and Bob: The main cast goes by the names of the characters they are portraying such as Twilight being called Meg as an example, contrasting this with ponies going by their original names like Starswirl and Trixie.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: When Aunt March/Discord visits the Orchard House he is horrified at the sight of dust, spiders and unread comics.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Meg says her dream is to open a school to teach other creatures about magic, friendship and the magic of friendship.
Jo: "And they call me derivative."
  • Be Yourself: Both Laurie and A.K Yearling say this in regards to Jo's writing. Laurie points out that Jo should focus on her own writing skills and instead of imitating what A.K Yearling would write. A.K Yearling mentions how it might be boring or scary to write about something based on real life but it's worth it in the long run.
  • Bittersweet Ending: All four sisters and Laurie have left New Broncord to follow their dreams leaving Jo feeling lonely as a result. Despite this Jo is able to improve as a writer after meeting and getting advice from A.K Yearling which leads to her publishing her first book based on her family life. The March Sisters reunite sometime later at Laurie's graduation party with their bond stronger than ever.
  • Book Ends: The first issue has Jo meeting Laurie in a room separate from a party. The same thing happens again in Issue #4.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: The comic breaks the fourth wall so much there might as well not be a fourth wall. It's even lampshaded by Discord in Issue #2.
Discord: "Oh-ho! There's the fourth-wall break! We mandated one every issue."
    Editor's Note: "No we aren't."
    Discord: "Yes, we are."
Editor's Note: "Stop arguing with me."
  • The Cameo: Spike makes frequent cameos throughout the story but aside from him there are...
    • Issue One has Starlight Glimmer as Sallie Gardener while Starswirl shows up and Trixie, Celestia, and Luna are name dropped.
    • Issue Two has Angel Bunny, Granny Smith, Opal and Trixie. A filly portraying Miss Snow looks exactly like Cozy Glow but with blonde hair.
    • Issue Three has Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.
    • Issue Four has The Student Six and Big Macintosh.
  • Compressed Adaptation: The original novel was 47 chapters long which can't be covered in four issues. The first three issues cover half of the book while the fourth issue goes in its own direction.
  • Continuity Nod: In Issue Three, Meg mentions her dream is to open up a School of Friendship. Discord responds they did ten seasons of that referencing both the TV show and the comics.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: The girls reaction when Discord says Beth is dead... dead tired.
  • Gender Flip: Applejack portrays Theodore Laurence who was a boy in the original novel. In the comic, she is renamed Theodora Laurence.
  • Lighter and Softer: The comic is this compared to its source material changing several aspects of it to make it more suitable for children such as:
    • Instead of a civil war, Mr. March (Cheese Sandwich) is engaged in a war between the Abyssinians and Diamond Dogs who fight each other with frisbees and laser pointers. Instead of falling sick he merely asks Maree (Pinkie Pie) for help with her party planning expertise to end the war.
    • Amy is punished for giving out emeralds to her classmates by her teacher (Discord) who forces her to feed all her emeralds to Spike. In the original story, Amy was struck on her hands for handing out pickled limes.
    • Beth catches a cold in place of scarlet fever. She doesn't die but lives through the story as Discord who plays the role of her doctor sends her on a permanent vacation to a tropical island.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The conversation between Meg and Amy at the beginning of Issue Three.
Meg: "—And now, in light of the fact that one A.M neglected to turn in her article by this week's print deadline—"
Amy: "I don't see what the fuss is about. It's not as if we're putting together twenty-page issues for release on a monthly schedule."
  • Never Say "Die": Jo in the first issue has this to say. "Leave me alone to dieee." And it's averted with Discord in Issue Three.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are the March Sisters with Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich as their parents.
  • Shout-Out: "A wild bunny appears"
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Discord aware of what happens to Beth in the original story, decides to take her away to a tropical island.
  • Spy Catsuit: Amy wears one when stealing Meg's book about emeralds. It even has cat ears on her mask.
