My Little Pony Classics Reimagined: The Unicorn of Odd is a four-issue comic written by Megan Brown and drawn by Jenna Ayoub. It is the second comic in the Classics Reimagined series following Little Fillies. It was released on August 23, 2023. The story is an adaptation of the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
In the land of Ponyville, Kansas lived a young girl named Dorothy (Applejack) who lives in peace with her Auntie Em (Granny Smith) and Uncle Henry (Big Macintosh) and her pet dog Toto (Winona). One day a tornado arrived at the farm carrying both Dorothy and Toto away. The two of them ended up in the Land of Odd where they accidently crushed the Wicked Witch of the East (Princess Luna). The Good Princess of the North (Princess Celestia) appears before Dorothy and tells her to find The Unicorn of Odd who can help her get back home. She also gives Dorothy the witch's silver horseshoes and tells her not to remove them as they contain powerful magic. On her journey Dorothy meets a scarecrow (Pinkie Pie), a tinmare (Rarity), and a cowardly lion (Fluttershy) who agree to work together to see The Unicorn of Odd in hopes of making their wishes come true.
My Little Pony Classics Reimagined: The Unicorn of Odd provides examples of:
- Ascended Extra: Applejack in Little Fillies played a supporting role. Here as Dorothy, she is the main character.
- Princess Celestia and Princess Luna had a cameo in the previous story. In this comic, they play a bigger role.
- Trixie who had a cameo in Little Fillies is the titular Unicorn of Odd.
- Adaptational Villainy: Rainbow Dash and the Wonderbolts as the flying monkeys.
- The Bus Came Back: The comic brings back characters who haven't been seen outside of one episode in the main show.
- The Breezies show up as residents of Odd, taking the place of the munchkins.
- Suri Polomare is shown in a flashback as a rival of Rarity who refused to let her sell her dresses in her store.
- The Diamond Dogs (specifically Rover) appear as a Kalidah.
- The Changelings original forms haven't been seen since the season 8 episode "What Lies Beneath."
- The Cameo: One of the forms The Unicorn of Odd takes is Sunny Starscout.
- The Cutie Mark Crusaders appear as guards of Glinda (Twilight), the Good Witch of the East.
- Cowardly Lion: Fluttershy plays the role here.
- Giant Spider: The gang face one as they travel through a forest.
- Lampshade Hanging: Dorothy questions why Chrysalis would keep a bucket of water around if she's weak to it. Chrysalis retorts how she is expected to keep her castle clean without washing it.
- Shout-Out: Rainbow Dash mentions she would make a good Buck Norris.
- As she's melting, Queen Chrysalis says someone will make a play where she is the hero.
- Wicked Witch: Princess Luna and Queen Chrysalis are the Wicked Witches of the East and West respectively.
