The Sequel in Another Medium miniseries Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash and its sequel, The Nightmare Warriors, follow up on the events of Freddy vs. Jason and tosses Ashley J. Williams into the mix to create a horror crossover that fans could only have dreamed about before its publication. DC Comics, Dynamite Entertainment, and Wildstorm published both series from 2007 to 2009, with James Kuhoric (writer) and Jason Craig (illustrator) helming both series. Kuhoric based the original series on the original Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash film treatment by Jeff Katz; Katz himself helped pen The Nightmare Warriors, which he and Kuhoric designed as a horror film parallel to DC’s various Crisis events, right down to combining the three franchises’ continuities and turning the Nightmare Warriors into a Justice League-style ‘superteam’.
- Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash
After the events of Freddy vs. Jason, Freddy Krueger manipulates Jason Voorhees into retrieving the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, which Freddy plans to use to revive himself and cause more carnage. Ash happens to have moved to Crystal Lake for the opening of a new Super Ultra Mega S-Mart, which serves as his cover while he keeps his own search for the Necronomicon alive. Once the triumvirate of terror meet, chaos ensues.
- Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors
Following the events of the previous series, the United States government resurrects both Freddy and Jason in an attempt to exploit their supernatural powers. The government soon discovers that it can’t control the titans of terror, who now seek to take over the world using the Necronomicon. In the meantime, Ash stumbles upon the existence of the Nightmare Warriors, a support group for survivors of the two killers’ supernatural rampages. Once Ash and his new allies learn of the resurrection of Freddy and Jason, the Nightmare Warriors make it their mission to stop the deadly duo once and for all.

General
- Demoted to Extra: While he still plays a central role in the plot Jason receives little attention compared to Freddy and Ash and mostly serves as Freddy's errand boy.
- Grand Finale: These comics pretty much serve as this for all three franchises' original continuities before being rebooted... though in Ash's case, that thankfully wouldn't last long.
- Retcon: This comic combines the Elm Street and Evil Dead continuities, but in the original Nightmare On Elm Street, Nancy Thompson could be seen watching The Evil Dead and Freddy's glove could be seen in Evil Dead 2. The latter example could be interpreted as subtle Foreshadowing, although it's more likely that Wes Craven and Sam Raimi were simply sending Shout Outs to each other's work and did not anticipate the two films seeing a crossover around 20 years later. Likewise it's implied that Mrs. Voorhees had got her hand on the Necronomecon at one point to resurrect Jason.
- Shout-Out:
- Potentially in the first issue of Nightmare Warriors. As the government agents surround the ice pond where Jason was dumped at the end of the first series, one agent calls the applications of an "un-killable soldier" more plausible than the Necronomicon; at the beginning of Jason X, the military wanted to take Voorhees into custody (instead of putting him into permanent cryogenic suspension) to study his seeming immortality for their own purposes.
- Legit shout-outs in Nightmare Warriors include a scene from Army of Darkness which shows up in a dream sequence, Ash is listening to the Alice Cooper song "He's Back (the Man Behind the Mask)" during a car drive, and there's even a reference to Hypnocil.
- Also, in the original Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, during Freddy and Ash's first confrontation, Freddy makes a wise-crack about playing "pin the tail on the Elvis impersonator". This could very well be a reference to Bruce Campbell playing not only Ash in the Evil Dead series, but also Elvis Presley in the movie Bubba Ho-Tep.
- The hotel that Jacob and Stephanie stays at in Nightmare Warriors at least in the dreamscape and the house next to it looks almost exactly like the Bates Motel and house in Psycho.
- Near the end of the original Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash series, Ash mentions Sugarbaby as one of the people close to him that he lost to the Deadites. Sugarbaby was a sorceress from Dynamite's ongoing Army of Darkness comics who teamed-up with Ash for a time.
- Sliding Scale of Villain Threat: Thanks to the Necronomicon, Freddy and Jason escalate from their usual Local Area Threat Level to Planetary Threat Level.
- Versus Title: Naturally, continuing it's carrying on from Freddy vs Jason.
- Wham Shot:
- Jason reveals he can think better now by doing a Finger Wag to the screen.
- Freddy with the Necronomicon fused to his torso.
Freddy vs Jason vs Ash
- Alpha Bitch: Bree has no qualms about seducing Ash into buying her stuff, then laughing at him with her friends.
- Break the Haughty: Alpha Bitch Bree comes away from her first encounter with Jason with a Thousand-Yard Stare, wrapped in a Modesty Bedsheet, repeatedly babbling about how Jason killed everyone else.
- Car Fu: Ash uses his car at one point to ram into Freddy, stopping him from reading the Necronomicon any further.
- Chainsaw Good: Ash gets a new chainsaw, dubbed "Chain Lightning", which proves to be a lot more useful than any other weapon.
- Oh, Crap!: Freddy Krueger has read the Necronomicon. I repeat, Freddy Krueger has read the Necronomicon.
- Crossover Power Acquisition: The plot is set in motion by Freddy obtaining the Necronomicon, and using it to wreak havoc.
- Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Lori screams at Jason after he disembowels Will that she used to feel sorry for him, but now she can't after he's killed so many people and just continues to take more and more lives. It falls on deaf ears and Jason kills her.
- Hidden Depths:
- Ash's stuffy boss Mr. Johnson bravely attempts to confront Jason when he attacks the store while telling Ash to evacuate the customers.
- Alpha Bitch Bree tries to keep the necronium away from Jason despite her obvious terror and how he's willing to kill for it, rather than just abandoning it.
- I Have Boobs, You Must Obey!: Bree is fairly proud of getting Ash to buy her a lot of stuff with his employee discount just by walking up to him in a low-cut shirt.Bree: When you've got tits like mine you only have to tease— boys'll do just about anything if they think they might get a taste.
- It Can Think: Jason. The heroes try to bait him with a trap he would have usually fallen for, but he has none of it, and gives them a disapproving Finger Wag to them and the audience.
- Modesty Bedsheet: Bree spends a lot of time running around in nothing but a bedsheet and a thong, which is unusual given how she wasn’t in a bedroom when Jason caught her and her boyfriend with their clothes off.
- Sequel Hook: Jason is thrown and frozen into Crystal Lake and Freddy is sent to the Deadites dimension. But just as Ash and Caroline leave the area. The Necronomicon is flung back into the human realm on top of the lake right on top of Jason. It flips through the pages and lands on an image of Freddy.
- Shout-Out: Jason, ever the silent type, shows he's not that stupid anymore by doing the T-1000's finger wag.
- Sudden Sequel Death Syndrome: : Lori and Will (the surviving protagonists from Freddy vs Jason movie) are quickly offed by Jason no sooner when they return to Crystal Lake.
- Too Dumb to Live:
- Will and Lori coming back to Crystal Lake just to make sure Jason and Freddy are dead was a supremely dumb move since honestly there was no reason to other then just a bad feeling Lori had. Plus it had been five years since the events of the movie and they had barely survived the first time. Not surprisingly no sooner than they arrive, Jason disembowels Will and, while Lori manages to put up a fight and knock Jason down. In trying to finish him off, she catches a machete to the face.
- Bree and her friends having sex inside Jason Voorhes' abandoned childhood home as some act of thrill-seeking or spite toward the killer screams Sex Signals Death way more than any other victim in the franchise. They don't even have the excuse of thinking Jason was dead at the time.
- Villain Team-Up: Initially. Despite what happened in the first movie, Jason was willing to work with Freddy for a bit in exchange for a slight power boost to continue his murder spree. But turns on Freddy when he start using the Necronomicon for his own ends.
- You Are Too Late: In the first series, Ash personally goes to stop Freddy from reading the Necronomicon — then discovers that Freddy already read from the book and gained all its powers ten minutes prior.
The Nightmare Warriors
- Adaptational Skimpiness: Rennie wears a lot of midriff-baring outfits compared to her stereotypically conservative Final Girl wardrobe from Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.
- And the Adventure Continues: After Freddy and Jason's (presumably final) defeat, Ash leaves on a motorcycle, simply saying he'll "try Texas".
- Bishōnen Line: Crossed by Jason, of all people, when Freddy decides that Jason's undead form won't be able to withstand the coming battle and so uses the Necronomicon to completely restore him.
- Blonde, Brunette, Redhead:
- Blonde: Tina
- Brunette: Stephanie and Alice
- Redhead: Rennie
- Creepy Children Singing: "Freddy's Coming For You " has a Dark Reprise as Freddy and Jason assault the White House with an army of Deadites.
- Daddy's Little Villain: Freddy Krueger's daughter Kathryn, a.k.a. Maggie Burroughs, has fallen to the dark side and is now working with her father. Not only that, she's become a daddy's girl in all the wrong ways...
- Dark Reprise: "Freddy's Coming For You" returns as Freddy and the Deadites attack the White House, only this time the last two stanzas are replaced. Rather than singing about staying awake, the creepy children sing about how Freddy will bring about The End of the World as We Know It.
- The End... Or Is It?: Freddy Krueger is finally killed off and the entire Deadite army wiped out by the Nightmare Warriors, with the Necronomicon secured once more. The souls of Freddy's victims finally pass on to the afterlife and Ash departs Washington D.C. having saved the human race from extinction. And yet, the voice of Pamela Voorhees calls out to her son's remains, indicating that Jason is not as dead as he seems...
- Evil Costume Switch: After her Face–Heel Turn, Maggie switches from a psychologist's business suit to a supervillain costume consisting of black latex pants and a bra, with dual knife gloves. Her outfit seems to be a Shout-Out to X-23.
- Foreshadowing: It's implied by the ending that Jason Voorhees will once again resurrect himself and continue his reign of terror in Washington D.C. itself. However, this will inevitably result in his capture by the U.S. government, thereby setting the stage for the events of Jason X.
- Good Counterpart: Stephanie Kimble is one for Jason Voorhees, donning the hockey mask and still working with the good guys to help fight against Freddy, Jason, and the deadites.
- I Have You Now, My Pretty: In typical Freddy fashion, he molests Caroline with his tongue on her face while holding her captive.
- Mythology Gag: When Ash races to his house to confront Jason, the song on the radio is "The Man Behind The Mask", recorded by Alice Cooper to promote Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.
- Ret-Gone: At the end, Freddy is erased from history when a time displaced Agent Wesley Carter actually signs his warrant, meaning he was properly arrested rather than getting off on a technicality and then being hit by vigilante justice.
- Shout-Out: When Ash goes to take a train to Baltimore, the list of destinations includes Haddonfield and Round Rock.
- Signs of Disrepair: The last letter on Stabe motel's sign is broken.
- Sudden Sequel Death Syndrome:
- Caroline is found by Jason and killed. With Ash finding her body not long after.
- Jessica and Steven from Jason Goes to Hell don't fare much better in the Nightmare Warriors. The former is revealed to have died behind the scenes while the latter is abruptly killed near the end of the second issue.
- Alice from Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and 5 (Dream Master and Dream Child) sacrifices herself to give her power to her son.
- Thanatos Gambit: Alice pulls one in The Nightmare Warriors. She's revealed to be terminally ill which has also made her unable to use her powers as the Dream Master, so she lets Freddy kill her so they can be passed to her son, allowing him to use the Dream Master powers and unleash his full wrath on Freddy.
- Unexplained Recovery: Dr. Neil Gordon is sliced up by Maggie and Freddy after the former's Face–Heel Turn, only for him to inexplicably show up again alive in well in the last issue.
- Washington D.C. Invasion: Freddy stages a surprisingly successful one with a Deadite army (and Jason leading the troops). When the government's dumb enough to bring Freddy, Jason, and the Necronomicon itself to Washington...
- You Have Failed Me: When Freddy defiantly declares himself a "dream god" even after Jason and the Deadites have been defeated, the Dream Demons decide that they've had enough."You lied to us! We gave you power and now we have nothing!"
