  • Neon Genesis Evangelion gives some of its characters distinct color motifs:
    • Rei Ayanami's signature colors are blue and white; she's blue-haired, and in the anime and manga, she's always seen in either her practically all-white plugsuit or her school uniform, which consists of blue overalls and a white shirt. Furthermore, in official artwork and some spin-offs, she's often seen in blue-colored clothing. Her blue motif also manifests in the ending theme of the TV anime, where behind her silhouette is a blue-tinted moon and night sky. Finally, in End of Evangelion, merging with Adam and Lilith into a gigantic humanoid causes her skin and hair to take on an unnatural white for their color.
    • Red is Asuka's signature color, matching her hair color and personality as well as the color of her Evangelion. It also contrasts with Rei, who has blue as her color.
    • Kaworu is a somewhat subtle case; he wears the same school uniform as Shinji (white shirt and black pants), but he wears an orange undershirt under it to contrast with the blue one Shinji wears, signifying his role as Shinji's (positive) Shadow Archetype.
  • Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon follows this with its main characters:
    • Ash: Wears blue as usual, both in his normal attire and his Ultra Guardian uniform.
