Elodie Davis
A shy, awkward Naïve Newcomer and the protagonist of the series. Struggles to cope with the loss of her mom as well as a debilitating shoplifting addiction.
- Badass Adorable: Elodie's pretty geeky as a person, although lest we forget the scene where they trash Brady's car, she doesn't seem to take any shit when it matters.
- Boyish Short Hair: Elodie sports this haircut. She's a slightly tomboyish lesbian.
- Break the Cutie: Implied to have occurred after her mother's death, though she doesn't like to talk about it.
- Cannot Talk to Women: Elodie at first. Of course, Moe and Tabitha manage to somewhat help her out.
- Contrived Clumsiness: At the end of the Pilot, Elodie uses the Food Spill variant to get a little payback on Brady for his earlier mistreatment of Tabitha. He doesn't notice, but Tabitha does and is appreciative.
- Clumsy Girl: Elodie spills her drink on Tabitha the first episode we see her.
- Easily Embarrassed Youngster: Elodie's awkwardness often leads to this.
- It's All My Fault: It turns out Elodie blames her mom's death on herself, as she died in a car accident after she'd gotten picked up at a party.
- Lipstick Lesbian: Elodie fits more as "chapstick", with in-between clothing but also short hair. Jillian in Season 2 is also an example, with long curly hair and much the same style as Elodie.
- Missing Mom: Elodie's mom died in a car accident, caused by a drunk driver. She still isn't over the loss, and this is the source of her mental illness.
- Naïve Newcomer: Elodie's new in town, and she's got no clue about parties, dating, sex or the like.
- Nervous Wreck: Elodie, particularly when talking to girls.
- Smart Girl: Elodie is witty, sly and can get away stealing with just about anything if she's focusing hard enough.
Moe Truax
- Academic Athlete: Implied for Moe, who is a surprisingly good student as well as being on the school track team. Downplayed, as neither of these aspects are discussed at length during the show.
- Ambiguously Brown: Moe's got dark curly hair and olive skin. Her mom's white, her dad's a man of color who's implied to be Latino as he refers to "mi familia" once. Their last name Truax however is French.
- Bruiser with a Soft Center: Moe is a classic tough girl, but she does appear to have a soft spot for her best friends.
- Disappeared Dad: Moe's dad left when she was little, and hasn't been in contact with her for years. Later, it turns out he was in prison and contacts her when he's released. He arranges to meet with her, but then stands up Moe. He later arrives unexpectedly for Thanksgiving. She gives him a cold shoulder and tells him off. Her dad apologizes, and he pledges to be there more.
- Good Bad Girl: Moe is beautiful, smart, capable and more sexually experienced than any of her friends. None of this is treated as a contradiction. Overlaps with Good Is Not Nice.
- Hidden Depths: Moe. She's a badass rebel, but she also got into a prestigious STEM program in Korea.
- High-School Hustler: Moe, particularly when it comes to science-related subjects.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Moe's legal first name turns out to be Maureen, but she's only called that once, by her dad.
- The Stoic: Moe tries to be this. It falls apart.
- Tomboyish Name: "Moe", which doubles as a Gender-Blender Name.
Tabitha Foster
- Broken Pedestal: Tabitha laments that she's idolized her dad all her life when she learns he cheated on her mom, tarnishing his image in her eyes.
- The Fashionista: Tabitha's hardly ever dressed like she's not heading out to her latest modelling gig. Her Instagram-famous mother probably influenced this just a little.
- Preppy Name: "Tabitha Foster" sounds pretty damn preppy. She also comes from wealthy family unlike the others in the trio.
- Spoiled Sweet: Tabitha's a wealthy girl who's adored by her family and friends, though she does appear to have a level head and not much in the way of an ego.
Sam
- First Kiss: She was one for Elodie. It was awkward.
- The Lad-ette: She enjoys drinking beer and hanging around a campfire.
- Lipstick Lesbian: It's downplayed by Sam. She has piercings, one side of her hair shaved and wears flannel and very little to no makeup but has long hair and looks more feminine in comparison to her crush Elodie.
- Love Interest: She's one for Elodie in season 1.
- "Shut Up" Kiss: Plants one on Elodie.
Sabine
A lead singer and love interest for Elodie in season 1.
- Lipstick Lesbian: Sabine has long hair, plus generally feminine clothing.
