Cang Shu and Qi Lin are the joint protagonists of this manhua as well as its leading friendship to couple.

  • Brains and Brawn: Cang Shu is the brains with her having the highest marks in their grade and Qi Lin is the brawn, being a seasoned street fighter and athlete.
  • Cool Kid-and-Loser Friendship: While she has people who are jealous of her success Cang Shu is the School Idol meanwhile Qi Lin was shocked somebody said they were interested in herS
  • Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo: While Qi Lin has No Indoor Voice and refuses to be quiet, Cang Shu rarely raises her voice or loses her temper.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Qi Lin is Red, loud, brash and combative while Cang Shu is Blue, quiet, stoic and diplomatic.
  • Opposites Attract: They are both Foils of one another yet their relationship is the core of the series.

Horoscope: Aries Likes: Any sort of milk beverage, pop music, gaming Dislikes: Piano Best Subject: Nothing, especially poor in Arts (but her lowest record is 4/150 marks for Maths)

Qi Lin is one of the two main protagonists and the second one we meet. On the surface, she is an energetic and brash tomboy, but in reality, she is a Stepford Smiler with bad memories of her Dark and Troubled Past.

  • Animal Motifs: Qi Lin is the biggest example of this in this series. Other characters will briefly “change” into the animals they’re associated with but Qi Lin “sprouts” Samoyed tail and/or ears or flat out “becomes” one Once per Episode.
  • Bifauxnen: In middle school, Qi Lin was One of the Guys and definitely looked the part.
  • Book Dumb: The source of a lot of her issues. It is further justified by Chinese parents' Education Mama attitude towards their children. On the other hand, it's this trope that Cang Shu initially remembered her for.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Qi Lin doesn’t like the idea that other people might be interested in Cang Shu at all.
  • Gamer Girl: Qi Lin loves playing all sorts of games for fun and is very good at them.
  • Genki Girl: Qi Lin is an upbeat and hyperactive girl who frequently acts and speaks as she chooses.
  • Girliness Upgrade: In middle school, Qi Lin definitely could have passed for a boy her age. She can’t anymore, despite being just as tomboyish.
  • Imaginary Love Triangle: She thinks she is competing with Cui Xin for Cang Shu’s affections. She is not.
  • Oblivious Guilt Slinging: By opening up about her past, she is able to accidentally guilt Cang Shu into becoming her friend for real.
  • One of the Boys: Especially in the past, Qi Lin always got along with boys and in middle school a whole group of them saw her as their boss.
  • Stepford Smiler: Qi Lin reveals that during her bubbly and excitable demeanor, she is a victim of self loathing and agrees with people who put her down.
Qi Lin: Oh well, I’m know to be stupid short-tempered and ambitionless. Even the teacher says I can’t be saved! It’s not their fault. I don’t really like myself either anyway.
  • Tomboyish Name: The "Lin" in her name refers to the Kilin and is unambiguously a boy's name.

    Cang Shu(苍舒)

"My name is Cang Shu, 16 years old, and I have been troubled by a rumor lately."

Horoscope: Scorpius Likes: Milk, Chocolate, Classical Music, Chess Dislikes: Fish with bones (dislikes any food that makes her look ungraceful when eating) Best Subject: Everything, especially Arts)

The School Idol, Cang Shu has great looks and even better grades. Despite things, she has no real friends or knows how to make any. She is the other half of our Main Duo and the one we meet first.

  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Cang Shu is composed and precise, visually having ebony black hair and pale skin.
  • Animal Motifs: It doesn’t happen the fraction of the time it does to Qi Lin but Cang Shu is associated with hamsters and “transforms” into one on occasion.
  • Book Smart: In her high school entrance exam, she just lost one mark in the Literature, English, and Math combined.
  • Ice Queen: Cang Shu fits this archetype to a T with her dispassionate demeanor and top grades.
Female Student: Such an ice beauty!
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Invoked. Cang Shu never bothered to make friends because she thought it would affect her studies. This bites her in the ass when she needs to pick a name of someone she is going to pretend to be attracted to so she can get her classmates off her back.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Due to studying so much to get top marks, Cang Shu has neglected her social life and initially could not remember the names of her classmates.
  • No Social Skills: Owing to being a self-imposed loner, she has little when it comes to how to make friends.
  • Obliviously Beautiful: Cang Shu is almost completely unaware of how attractive she is to others due to being engrossed in her studies.
  • Opaque Lenses: Cang Shu gets this look a lot, usually when she is annoyed or thinking about something.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: She fits this bill perfectly looks-wise, visually encompassing everything this trope requires.
  • Stoic Spectacles: Cang Shu’s glasses almost play into her nature, seemingly guarding her from others in many ways.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Cang Shu both wears glasses and is at the top of her class.

"You wanna compare?"

Wang Hang is another athletic student. Initially he was jealous of Cui Xin and tried to always one up him. After an “altercation” the two became best friends and maybe something more.

  • Best Friend: After getting over his jealousy Wang Hang becomes Cui Xin’s closest friend, but it looks like it might be more than that.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Wang Hang was at first jealous of Cui Xin’s popularity, skills and looks before the two grew close.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Eventually he and Cui Xin are rarely seen apart and seem to genuinely like spending time together.
  • Homoerotic Subtext: What causes him to get over his jealous is when Cui Xin pins him against a wall and grabs him (in reality him spying on a moment between Cang Shu and Qi Lin). The homoeroticism only deepens from their.
  • Mr. Fanservice: His abs are bigger than Cui Xin’s, something he was happy to point out.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: He is the tallest person in the main cast and has a mess mop of raven colored hair.
  • Those Two Guys: He and Cui Xin seem to become inseparable as the manhua goes on.
  • Unknown Rival: Whenever he tried to one up Cui Xin at first, he was met with confusion and indifference.

"I fear that this idiot who is absolutely hopeless in everything but schoolwork, looks, and height..is being deceived by an evil woman!"
Click here to see her “as” a rabbit

Jiang Feng Feng is Cui Xin’s childhood friend who is head over heels for him. She buys into the rumors that he and Cang Shu are a couple and resents her.

  • Animal Motifs: Jiang Feng Feng is associated with rabbits and like the Main Duo she occasionally “becomes” one.
  • Childhood Friends: She has known Cui Xin since both of them were children.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Jiang Feng Feng is very angry at the rumor that Cang Shu and Cui Xin might a relationship.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Along with her noticeably shorter height this really makes her come across as childish compared to her classmates.
  • Imaginary Love Triangle: Jiang Feng Feng is under the impression that she and Cang Shu are competing for Cui Xin’s affections. They are not.
  • Tsundere: Despite her feelings for Cui Xin, her quote does not paint him in a good light.
Jiang Feng Feng: I fear that this idiot who is absolutely hopeless in everything but schoolwork, looks, and height..is being deceived by an evil woman!
  • Unknown Rival: She is an Imaginary Love Triangle with Cang Shu over Cui Xin.

    Yu Nan Zui(余南醉)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b8fd7612_2d08_495f_a6db_86dfc16dc22b.jpeg
"I’m Yu Nan Zui, the sports representative for Class G."

Qi Lin’s classmate. He’s the sports representative and harbors a secret crush on Qi Lin.

  • Embarrassing Nickname: Qi Lin calls him Blue Head when he is dragging her away to help with the class.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Qi Lin and other boys
  • Hopeless Suitor: His name isn’t Cang Shu, so it’s impossible for Qi Lin to reciprocate his feelings, even if she did find out.
