The family members of the protagonist of the series. This includes all potential family members you can have in your family, along with all named staffs that are employed in your estate.
The Dragoon Officer
The custom protagonist of the series. The Dragoon Officer comes from a minor aristocratic family of a respectable pedigree that is thousands of crowns in debt at the game's start. The Dragoon Officer's father put himself into even more debt and bought the Dragoon Officer his officer's commission in the Royal Dragoon Regiment, making the DO his family's last and only hope.
- The Atoner: If he massacred Antari civilians in Sabers, he can show a desire to become this to Cunrais(It is noticeably the only response that does not leave the duke scowling). Also becomes this in Guns of Infinity if he retreated at Blogia.
- The Ace: A character with high stats all-around and a reputation as "the finest officer ever to wear Dragoon colours" is definitely this. Bonus points if he's fluent in Antari. However...
- Broken Ace: The same character can also be deeply unhappy and jaded, if the player chooses. He can have an uncaring father, who later dies; friends and subordinates getting killed left, right and centre because of his decisions; he can kill a teenage girl to "safeguard Tierra's future", or sacrifice most of his unit to capture her so he can finally pay off his family's debts with the ransom money (other motives can include: "I did it for Katarina", "I was following orders", etc.), and lose Findlay's trust as a consequence; and he can be unmoved by nature, rolling hills and all. Oh and this character can still be in his early twenties at this point.
- Badass Bookworm: With high enough intellect, he can become this.
- Big Brother Mentor: Can take all three of his subordinates under his wing in Guns of Infinity.
- Blue Blood: The majority of named characters in the game are.
- Character Customization: Based on your character's name, age, background, family gift, and aptitude in Soldiering, Intellect, and Charisma.
- Combat Pragmatist: In one-on-one combat, a high intelligence player character is often this.
- Deadpan Snarker: A cynical character will sometimes be this.
- Determinator: Holding the line at Blogia.
- A Father to His Men: With enough loyalty not only can you become this, but so much that your Sergeant breaks protocol and hugs you at one point.
- Genius Bruiser: A character with high soldering and intellect is this.
- Gold Digger: Depending on who he romances and what his goals are, he can become this
- Knight in Shining Armor: A character with high idealism and mercy.
- Impoverished Patrician: When your family has been in debt for several generations, you know you're this.
- Inner Monologue: While Cazarosta prays and Elson drinks, the Dragoon Officer thinks a lot on his spare time. Especially during Guns of Infinity, where half of the chapter is MC talking to himself. During Second Battle of Kharangia, he thinks about the future of the country, his position, as well as the battle while being a reserve.
- The Kirk: Can show shades of this in the first game, if the player regularly decides to Take a Third Option when asked to choose between Elson and Cazarosta. Elson is the Captain, however.
- The Unfettered: A character with high cynicism and ruthlessness
- Knight in Sour Armour: A character with high cynicism and mercy.
- Officer and a Gentleman: The vast majority of officers in the army, including the player, fit the older definition of "gentlemen". Whether you personally fit the more modern definition is up to you.
- Rank Up: Goes from Cornet to Captain to potentially becoming a Major or even a Lieutenant Colonel.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: A character with high idealism and ruthlessness.
Father
The former patriarch of the barony.- Doting Parent: If the Protagonist is close to his father, who would pay close attention and personal supervision to Protagonist's growth, grooming him as a suitable heir to the barony when he passed away.
- So Proud of You: Downplayed at first. If the Protagnoist is on neutral term with his father, he would only give such reply when he sent the money. In Lords, however, he would discover how his father is actually proud of him, when going through his personal journal.
- Parental Neglect: If the Protagonist is on bad term with his father, he would recalled how his father had never care about his education or his existence, save only when he need Protagonist's money to pay off the debt, and don't bother asking the well-being of his son after protagonist's near-death experience in Blogia.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: He is only mentioned in his letter to Protagonist during Guns, and his death is only mentioned in a another letter written by a member of your household. What we know about him is solely based on the flashbacks of others.
Mother
The Matriarch of the barony, mother of the Dragoon OfficerSister
A potential sibling of the Dragoon Officer. As the second child, her outgoing personality can be quite a headache for Dragoon Officer.- Dating What Daddy Hates: Or in her case, dating what elder brother hates. The plot to start matchmaking your sister starts with this. By hate, we mean dating someone that may ruin lives and reputation of the family, with Cazarosta as a precedent.
- Deadpan Snarker: Expect this when talking with her.
- Hidden Depths: She had her fair share of educated opinion on current politics, enough to make her advice the best option at times.

A potential sibling of the Dragoon Officer.
