Faúx Fúr (10th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/du3.png

Age: 27
From: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

"You may want to lay off that MSG before you get addicted to me!"

  • Cute, but Cacophonic: She's cheerfully ditzy, but has a screeching voice that could strip paint. Even her exit line is just a long series of screams.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Faúx rapidly starts to irritate the other queens with her shrill, tuneless singing, though they mostly let it go, as she's a cheerful, sweet girl.
  • No Indoor Voice: "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
  • Wardrobe Malfunction: She has to redo her entrance — twice — when the brim of her big floppy hat droops down in front of her face. Hannah Conda, the only one who came in ahead of her, is just dying laughing.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Faúx ends up crashing out in dead last after a disastrous showing in the premiere's sewing challenge, with her exposed black panties receiving particularly savage critiquing.

Aubrey Haive (9th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aubrey_8.png

Age: 25
From: Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand

"Oh, it’s good to be hooooooooo-mo!"

  • Bad "Bad Acting": Her performance in the Caged Girls acting challenge — a spoof the legendarily trashy Aussie soap Prisoner Cell Block H — is a damp squib, and having landed in the bottom two with Kween Kong, she puts up a good fight but is ultimately sent packing.
  • Grilling the Newbie: Immediately upon her entrance, the other girls note how Aubrey's only a baby queen by comparison, having started drag during the Covid-19 lockdowns.
  • Punny Name: "Oh, behave " — especially amusing when said in a campily nasal Kiwi accent.
  • Retraux: She notes that her drag has a bold, colourful 1960s vibe.
  • Wardrobe Malfunction: And you thought Faúx Fúr had it bad. Aubrey's second runway (for the Fly Girls category) is a disaster, when she drops some props out of her purse (which was clearly planned, but winds up more awkward than anything else) and then blows her big reveal of insect wings when only one comes out at a time. Ru is not impressed, and it's no surprise when Aubrey goes home.

Pomara Fifth (8th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/du8.png

Age: 28
From: Camden, New South Wales, Australia

"Hello, it’s me! … When’s lunch?"

Minnie Cooper (7th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minnie_9.png

Age: 50
From: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

"Minnie on the outside, but once you get inside me, I go real fast!"

  • Bad Impressionists: Her Snatch Game performance of Ellen DeGeneres is well-received when Ru asks her for a quick Werk Room sample, but in the actual game itself, she absolutely bombs, with none of her jokes landing (and some being downright awkward). She's ultimately sent home in the lip-sync by her Arch-Nemesis, Bev.
  • Cringe Comedy: Since Minnie is dressed as a clown (in Heelys!) for her lipsync against Beverly Kills, her strategy is to play up the goofy clown persona for comedy. As the lipsync song is Lady Gaga's "Dance In The Dark," it is a horrible mismatch that the judges look viscerally uncomfortable watching, and Bev wins it in a cakewalk.
  • Drama Queen: As a seasoned Grande Dame, she can be easily offended, and after Pomara makes an Innocently Insensitive joke over how many times Minnie mentions her dyslexia, she will just not let it drop. As Bev notes, Minnie seemingly takes exception to one queen per week, whether it be Aubrey, Pomara, or herself.
  • Experienced Protagonist: Minnie is no stranger to reality TV, having made it to the semi-finals of Australia’s Got Talent in 2016 with her drag and musical theater act.
  • Glass Cannon: She'll grandly dish out unsolicited critiques under the guise of 'being honest', yet if anything comes back her way, she reacts with outraged dramatics.
  • Punny Name: She takes her drag name from the iconic and enduring British car brand, Mini, with 'Cooper' being one of the most popular models.
  • Reality Show Genre Blindness: She's by no means the only queen guilty of not knowing how to sew this season, but as Bev notes, having done drag for over 20 years, she really ought to have some level of skill in the field.

Yuri Guaii (6th + Miss Congeniality)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/du10.png

Age: 25
From: Auckland, Auckland Region, New Zealand

"Did somebody forget to take out the trash?"

  • Goth: The only queen this series exhibiting any kind of dark, or horror-themed aesthetic.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: For Snatch Game, she does a surprisingly good job (considering her naturally sweet low energy) portraying Courtney Love at the height of her dumpster-fire dishevelment and places high for the week.
  • Nice Girl: She's this series' Miss Congeniality — a clear choice, as she maintains her lovely personality throughout her time on the show.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: She carries a butcher knife in with her for her entrance look, which has blood splattered all over it. This immediately sets the tone for her dark, creepy style. For the Red For Filth runway, of course Yuri jumps at the chance to walk the runway as a drag Satan.
  • Punny Name: "You’re a guy".

Beverly Kills (5th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/du2.png

Age: 21
From: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

"Giddy-up, motha-fucka!"

  • Achilles' Heel: Comedy-based challenges. While Beverly is a great dancer and can give some good looks, as shown in challenges like the Snatch Game, she has a pretty huge problem with being funny.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: At just 21, and only a year into her drag journey, she's the youngest, greenest queen this series and a full 29 years younger than Minnie, the oldest queen, at 50.
  • Bad Impressionists: For Snatch Game, she portrays Val Garland, an English make-up artist and judge on the make-up based reality show, Glow Up. Her performance is an unmitigated disaster, with literally no humour to be found anywhere, which lands her in the bottom 2 with her Arch-Nemesis Minnie, whom she ultimately sends packing with her lip sync skills.
  • Brutal Honesty: She often rubs the other queens up the wrong way with her pert opinions and unsolicited critiques.
  • Do Not Go Gentle: Kween Kong finally sends her home in episode 6, but Beverly still goes out with a bang by taking Kong to the absolute limit.
  • No Sense of Humour: Bev is a great dancer, and serves some strong looks, but she's just not at all funny (a must-have drag skill) — as shown in the Drag Brunch, Snatch Game, Reading is Fundamental and Hometown Hunnies challenges, all of which she bombs.
  • Punny Name: Her drag name is a play on Los Angeles' glamorous Beverly Hills neighbourhood, and the fact that she “kills it” on stage.
  • Trash Talk: Bev is the source of much bickering in the Werk Room, and loves to stir up trouble with her analytical observations, as well as indulging in some classic Aussie sledging prior to the weekly challenges.

Molly Poppinz (4th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/du7.png

Age: 30
From: Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia

"You girls looking for Molly? ‘Cause I’m here to get it poppin’!"

Hannah Conda (runner-up)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/du4.png

Age: 30
From: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

"When you’re down under, watch out for snakes!"

  • Affectionate Parody: Her voice already has a Liza-esque, slushy tone, so Ms Minnelli was a natural choice for Snatch Game. She nails the challenge with a perfect, respectful performance, and deservedly snatches the win.
  • Camp: Loves the campy, bawdy side of drag, though she's also proof positive that camp queens can turn a polished, elaborate runway look.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Hannah has a high-pitched, cartoonishly wheezing speaking voice and a shrieking laugh that Spankie compares to Flipper.
  • Genre Savvy: Aware of the backlash against cultural appropriators in the previous season not getting enough punishment and not showing enough remorse, Hannah made the effort to apologise and show awareness of her past in the hosting episode.
  • Large Ham: She absolutely nails the Hometown Hunnies holiday marketing challenge, portraying a demure Princess Classic who goes on a fantasy journey throughout her hometown. Unlike the others, her ad has a proper narrative, makes use of the available special effects, and doesn't solely rely on hackneyed 'drunk-in-the-club' gags. She goes on to win the week.
  • Punny Name: A cheeky pun on "Anaconda".
  • Surprisingly Normal Backstory: When Ru asks for her backstory during their top three tête-à-tête, and Hannah responds amiably that she had a nice, normal childhood, Ru's Disapproving Look says it all concerning her chances of winning.

Kween Kong (runner-up)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/du5.png

Age: 29
From: Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

"Honey, I got the upper hand in this competition!"

  • Big Entrance: She arrives last in the Werk Room to rapturous applause from the rest of the assembled queens, and many acknowledge her as the best-known of the bunch.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: Molly is gifted with the chance to rate her competitors, having won the premiere episode, and designates Kween "You Beauty", aka the trade of the season.
  • Her Own Worst Enemy: She's an incredible queen, though as Ru observes, she holds onto some deep-seated discomfort about actually being a drag queen — mostly due to her upbringing and disapproving parents.
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: A feminised twist on the cinematic icon, King Kong. Her entrance look offers an additional nod, as she appears gripped in Kong's massive hand.

Spankie Jackzon (winner)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/du9.png

Age: 37
From: Palmerston North, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand

"I might be a sheep-fucker from New Zealand, but at least I didn’t have to tie my kangaroo down!"

  • Big Sister Instinct: When fellow Kiwi Yuri has an Heroic BSoD over her family's disapproval of her sexuality, Spankie gives her a crushing Bear Hug and reassures her that she's always welcome in her family, with a seat at the table and a bed for the night.
  • Book Ends: Spankie wins both the first and last lipsync of the season.
  • Experienced Protagonist: Spankie is best known for competing on the second season of House of Drag, a New Zealand-based drag competition hosted by Drag Race Down Under Series 1 alumnae Kita Mean and Anita Wigl'it, where she placed 1st overall and was crowned the winner.
  • The Gift: If ever a contestant rose to prominence on pure charisma, it's Bob The Drag Queen, but if there was another, it's Spankie. Ru points out in the final critiques that Spankie has an "it factor," and that beats "high fashion" every time. Spankie lives up to that praise by acing the final lipsync and winning the crown.
  • Nice Girl: With a little bit of Team Mum, too. She's easily one of the kindest contestants on Down Under thus far, always with a big smile and an infectious sense of fun. She immediately consoles Beverly Kills after a tense Werk Room confrontation, and gives genuine words of encouragement.
  • Rummage Sale Reject:
    • Michelle is literally lost for words over Spankie's disastrous, purple spray-painted Down Under, Naturally ensemble — especially as her efforts stop at the waistline, with just a pair of black panties covering her lower half — and she lands in the bottom 2 in the very first week.
    • The judges admit in their final critiques that Spankie isn't exactly the most polished finalist the franchise has ever had, punctuated by a compilation of Spankie's looks, but her trashy style always has a point of view and it's always carried off with panache.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Spankie loves letting her bum hang out, right from her entrance look. It's part of her trashy appeal, which the judges love.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Spankie miserably fails the first episode's design challenge, but survives the bottom two and sends home Faúx Fúr. Undeterred, she proceeds to ham it up in the next week's acting challenge and wins. Thanks to that natural vivaciousness shining through and winning over the judges, she never lands in the bottom again, and is crowned the winner of the season with three wins under her belt.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: Her last name, the unusually-spelled Jackzon.
  • Zero to Hero: From a disastrous first episode performance, Spankie builds momentum, with her drag seeming to grow and become ever more accomplished as the weeks go by, with her ultimately snatching the crown.
