Main Characters

    Takt (Takuto

Voiced by: Shintarō Asanuma (Japanese), Johnny Yong Bosch (English)

An expressionless young man often seen with Otoha, he is forced to become her manager and bodyguard upon her acceptance as a Verse Maiden.

  • BFS: He supports the Verse Maidens by swinging a sword that's almost as long as he is tall.
  • Childhood Friends: He's known Otoha since they were kids.
  • Commonality Connection: Zig-zagged; one event has him and Nene seemingly bond over having to deal with Otoha and Kanadeko since childhood. Then they try to pass responsibility of their respective friends off to the other, arguing that they themselves have their hands full with their own friend, so they can't deal with someone else.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: His cool-headed, rational thought process contrasts with Otoha's boundless enthusiasm.
  • The Stoic: He rarely raises his voice, and generally reacts to most situations stone-faced.
  • Supporting Protagonist: The player views the game largely through his perspective, but the Verse Maidens are the ones the story revolves around.

Takt’s long-time friend, her dream of becoming a Verse Maiden is achieved after a chance encounter with Momoka.

  • Ascended Fangirl: She longed to be a Verse Maiden just like Momoka, and she ends up taking the latter's place near the beginning of the game.
  • Butt-Monkey: She is the most frequent recipient of Momoka's wrath.
  • Childhood Friends: She and Takt have been a duo for as long as they can remember, to the point where she usually just assumes that he'll be with her wherever she goes.
  • Jumped at the Call: The moment she's offered a chance to be a Verse Maiden, she wastes no time accepting.
  • No Indoor Voice: The other characters frequently comment on how she tends to raise her voice with little forewarning.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: She’s a bonafide Genki Girl, whilst Takt keeps things low-key.

    Kyouka

A Verse Maiden under the care of Shiori, she displays noticeable antagonism towards Momoka and the verse Maidens under her.

  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: She has long, black hair, and stands out as the most calm and rational of the Verse Maidens.
  • Double Weapon: Her main weapon is a double-ended spear.
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: As befitting the refined image she gives off, the Japanese script has her consistently speak politely and formally, complete with adding the honorific "-san" to everyone's names. When Takt questions her about this habit, she implies that talking normally is embarrassing for her.
  • Jerkass Realization: She comes to the conclusion that her view of Momoka was unjustified after finding out from Takt that the retired Verse Maiden is actually the same age as Shiori.
  • Not So Stoic: While she seems in-control most of the time, she also has a tendency to yell really loud whenever she has to deal with her colleagues' antics.
  • Tsundere: She tends to be really dishonest with her inherent kindness, and vehemently denies being "cute."

    Kanadeko

A lively Verse Maiden often seen with Nene.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Nene calls her "Kana-chan."
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: She fights by punching and kicking.
  • Childhood Friends: With Nene.
  • Cuteness Proximity: She found Otoha so adorable that she couldn't help but hug the girl's head into her chest. Nene was apparently a victim of this before, and is relieved that she probably won't have to suffer as much now that Kanadeko has a new target.
  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: She has a bad habit of unintentionally using too much strength, which can lead to her nearly suffocating a recipient of her hugs or putting holes in the wall.
  • Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo: She's even more enthusiastic than Otoha, unlike the quieter Nene.

A timid Verse Maiden often seen with Kanadeko.

  • Childhood Friends: With Kanadeko.
  • Commonality Connection: Zig-zagged; one event has her and Takt seemingly bond over having to deal with Kanadeko and Otoha since childhood. Then they try to pass responsibility of their respective friends off to the other, arguing that they themselves have their hands full with their own friend, so they can't deal with someone else.
  • Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo: Her shy nature couldn't be more different to the incredibly active Kanadeko.
  • The Gunslinger: Her main weapon is a rifle she uses to hit enemies from afar.
