The main gang

    Lil Gator

Click here to see their younger self

The main character of the game, a young alligator with a boundless imagination. Lil Gator loved playing with their big sister when they were younger, and the two would often base their adventures on their favorite game series.

  • All Work vs. All Play: The All Play to Big Sis' All Work, as they want Big Sis to play with them because they believe work can always be done later.
  • Ambiguous Gender: They're always referred to with gender-neutral pronouns in the game. Other characters do refer to them with masculine words like "dude" and "guy", but they can also wear feminine accessories as part of the game's Virtual Paper Doll mechanic.
  • Book Dumb: Lil Gator easily gets bored with overly technical stuff, such as when Jill's friends from the prep school try to explain their projects in detail. Still, they can be shown to be quite smart for a kid their age, especially when they point out the contradictions in Martin's "testimony" during the mock courtroom scene.
  • Green Gators: They are a vivid shade of green, like their sister.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: In the present day, they wear a pair of shorts, but no shirt.
  • Kid Hero: Lil Gator is playing pretend that they're a sword-wielding hero, cutting down cardboard monsters and accomplishing quests for their friends.
  • Mr. Imagination: Most of the game revolves around Lil Gator using their vivid imagination to turn everything around them into an epic fantasy adventure, even though all the time they're just spending the afternoon with friends at the park.

    Jill
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_jill.jpg

A dog who is one of Lil Gator's main trio of friends. Even though it's fall break, she has been studying a lot to get into a prestigious prep school.

  • Affectionate Nickname: She affectionately refers to Lil Gator as "Scales".
  • Workaholic: She's almost always seen studying, even during playtime. She says that she can't afford to waste any time, since the exam she is studying for is very difficult, but still wants do what she can to help Lil Gator with their game.

    Martin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_martin.jpg

A horse who is one of Lil Gator's main three friends. He's a "cool kid" who is a bit more mature than the others and often comes across as the voice of reason in the group.

  • Deadpan Snarker: Prone to dry sarcasm, particularly when responding to comments by Lil Gator that he sees as naive.
  • Hand Behind Head: Does this sometimes when he's embarrassed.
  • Only Sane Man: He's the only one of Lil Gator's friends who understands right from the start that sweetening the pot won't suddenly make his sister less busy and more willing to play with him, and he bluntly states to Gator that he doesn't think his scheme will work. He's right, it's actually sitting down and talking to her about things that gets her to take a break and play with the gang.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: He's the only one who suggests from the start that Lil Gator should just try talking to Big Sis, rather than trying to impress her by building a town in the park that she's currently too busy to appreciate.

    Avery
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_avery.jpg

A frog and one of Lil Gator's main three friends. They are interested in starting a restaurant, and have a group of friends who are fond of acting and roleplaying.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: They are shown to be very scatterbrained. At the beginning of the game, they are supposed to set up the quest for Lil Gator to find a hat, but forget all about it the instant they walk away. In a later scene, when trying to explain the restaurant idea to their friends in detail, Avery says that they forgot everything about how it was supposed to work because they "couldn't stop thinking about slimes in hats".
  • Painting the Medium: Their dialogue boxes display their name as "avery!", complete with exclamation point, fitting with how they belong to a drama club.

    Tom
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_tom_0.jpg

An alpaca who is friends with Lil Gator and the others. He was supposed to meet them on the small island at the start, but went to the big island by mistake. Lil Gator meets up with him later.

  • Big Good: He's the one who helps Lil Gator get started with building the town in the playground, and takes the role of "king" in the town.

    Big Sis
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_big_sis.jpg
Click here to see her younger self

Lil Gator's older sister, who they used to play with a lot when they were younger. Now that she's in college, she doesn't have much time for it, but she agreed to come to the park today. To Lil Gator's disappointment, though, she has been working all day instead of playing with them.

  • All Work vs. All Play: The All Work to Lil Gator's All Play, since she believes that she can't afford to take a break and play with them until she's completely done with her work.
  • Green Gators: Like her younger sibling, she is a vivid shade of green.
  • Most Writers Are Writers: She goes to a computing college with the hopes of one day programming video games.
  • Practically Different Generations: While their exact ages are never given, Lil Gator seems to be quite young and most likely still in elementary school, while Big Sis is already in college.

Jill's friends

    Susanne
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_susanne.jpg

One of Jill's friends from Saint Hogarth prep school. She's looking for evidence of paleolithic tool usage (in other words, researching rocks).

  • Sure, Let's Go with That: When Lil Gator compares the research project on rocks she is doing to being just like a blacksmith, she decides to go along with it as long as it gets them excited enough to help with the project, even referring to the rock as "enchanted ore" and assisting Lil Gator in an epic Forging Scene.

    Antone
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_antone.jpg

One of Jill's friends from Saint Hogarth. He's researching beetles, but doesn't want to be known as "the weird beetle guy".

  • Coat Cape: Begins wearing his shirt as a cape after he captures the Hercules beetle (with Lil Gator's help). He says it's his costume for the game.
  • Furry Confusion: He's an anthropomorphic iguana. He also has a non-anthropomorphic pet iguana that can be seen next to him.
  • No Punctuation Period: In addition to talking in all lowercase letters like the other kids, most of his sentences are short and rather blunt with no punctuation.

    Gene
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_gene.jpg

One of Jill's friends from Saint Hogarth.

Martin's friends

    Lucas
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_lucas.jpg

A wolf who is one of Martin's trio of friends. While he tries to act cool around Martin, he admits that he actually feels very nervous around him and asks Lil Gator to help him practice talking to him.

  • Ambiguously Gay: He gets very flustered when talking about Martin and admits that he can't stop acting weird around him, but it's never actually confirmed if he has a crush or just really admires him as a friend.

    Jada
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_jada.jpg

A warthog who is part of Martin's group of "cool kids".

  • Caring Gardener: Grows very fond of a little magnolia that sprouted in the shade of a shallow pool of water, even referring to it as "she". Lil Gator helps her take care of the sprout so it won't die, and in exchange, Jada lets them turn off the water pump that she was guarding for Martin.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: She's quite bigger than the male members of her friend group.

    Duke
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_duke.jpg

A goose who seems to be capable of speaking only in honking noises. Lil Gator confronts them in a "courtroom battle" reminiscent of Ace Attorney after they get pushed by Duke near one of the water pumps.

  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Duke is afraid of being seen this way by Martin and the others, apparently because of an old friend group they belonged to that eventually told Duke they were only pretending to like them. This is also why they speak only in honking noises, believing that they can't mess up another friendship if they just don't talk. Lil Gator eventually tells them that they should just forget about their old friends because they were jerks, and that if Martin didn't genuinely like them, he wouldn't have "committed perjury" to protect them in the "courtroom".
  • The Unintelligible: They pretend to be this, initially speaking only in honking noises. Martin goes along with it at first and claims that he has never heard Duke actually speak, but Lil Gator proves that this is a lie in the courtroom scene, stating that if it were true, Martin couldn't have known Duke's name.

Avery's friends

    Velma
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_velma.jpg

One of Avery's friends from the theatre club. She's really into Westerns and wants the group to do something based on one for the game, but is also busy babysitting her younger siblings.

  • Badly Battered Babysitter: She's shown to be very worn out from looking after her three hyperactive younger siblings, and asks Lil Gator to help with them.
  • Cowgirl: Somewhat literally, as she is a cow who is into Western-themed roleplaying.

    Andromeda
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_andromeda.jpg

A friend of Avery's from the theatre club who is a big fan of space and science fiction.

  • Dual Wielding: Wields a toy blaster in each hand.
  • Fishbowl Helmet: Wears one of these as part of his astronaut costume. Lil Gator gets one just like it as a prize for completing his quest.
  • Geek: A huge science fiction geek and like all of Avery's friends, very committed to roleplaying — in Andromeda's case, as a spaceman who asks Lil Gator to help him stop an "alien invasion".

    Esme
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_esme.jpg

One of Avery's friends from the theatre club. She's really into vampires and likes to pretend that she is one.

  • Evil Laugh: Sometimes does a "kekeke" laugh as part of her vampire act.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Very fond of black cherry ice cream, and always gets that same flavor from the vendor. While sharing an ice cream with her after completing her quest, Lil Gator is initially worried that the flavor is something else given how committed Esme is to acting like a vampire.

Other kids (and adults) on the island

    Neil
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_neil.jpg

A mouse who has tried to make some friends for himself out of cardboard cutouts, but is disappointed with the result.

  • The Eeyore: When Lil Gator first finds him, he's rather depressed about his lack of artistic talent, lamenting that he "can't do anything right". Lil Gator eventually manages to cheer him up.
  • Terrible Artist: Not a very good artist, as shown by the cardboard cutouts he made, and very self-conscious about it.

    Flint
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_flint.jpg

A mole who gives Lil Gator bombs that they can use to blow up stuff (actually a firecracker inside of a bowling ball).

  • Eyes Always Shut: Always depicted this way. Justified as real moles have small, barely visible eyes.
  • Furry Reminder: Prefers to get around the island by burrowing instead of walking on the surface, like real moles.
  • Punny Name: His name is Flint, and he gives you explosives.

    Darcie
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_darcie.jpg
An owl who gives Lil Gator balloons that they can use to float.

  • Acrophobic Bird: Despite being a bird, she's terrified when a gust of wind blows her a short distance into the air while gathering her balloons, and asks Lil Gator to help her down.

    Kasen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_kasen.jpg

A turkey who is looking for his lost scooter.

  • Buffy Speak: Refers to his scooter as a "green wheelie thingy".

    Tony
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_tony.jpg

A bird who Lil Gator finds working on his chess strategy.

  • Cutting the Knot: He's very impressed with Lil Gator's "approach" to playing chess, which is to simply knock over the board with their sword.

    Sam
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_sam.jpg

A wolf who says that he can't join Lil Gator's town until they complete a quest for him. Said "quest" turns out to be simply dropping a pencil on the ground and asking Lil Gator to pick it up for him.

  • Companion Cube: Seems to be very attached to his comically oversized pencil.
  • Elmuh Fudd Syndwome: Has a habit of saying "please" as "pwease", although he seems to be doing it on purpose.
  • Rule of Three: "Accidentally" drops his oversized pencil three times, going further each time. He's about to do it a fourth time before Lil Gator talks him out of it by saying they're not picking it up again.

    Skate Pug
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_skate_pug.jpg

A pug who is into skateboarding.

  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: He's a pug who likes to skate.
  • No Name Given: Only known as Skate Pug, unlike most of the other kids, whose names are actually stated.
  • Totally Radical: Overuses slang in a lot of his dialogue. Lil Gator eventually admits that they have no idea what he's saying.

    Tiffany
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_tiffany.jpg

A cat who is at the park with her mother, and is waiting for her to get off the phone so they can play princess together.

  • Princesses Prefer Pink: Likes to play princess and is rather obsessed with the color pink, as shown by the tea set, table and chairs that she brought along. She gets angry if Lil Gator damages any of the pink decorations she made for her game.

    Carol
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_carol.jpg

Tiffany's mother. She came to the park to play with her daughter, but has been on the phone talking about work for a long time.

  • Token Adult: One of only a few unambiguously adult characters in the cast, alongside Big Sis, the Part-Timer, and Mr. Doddler.

    Robin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_robin.jpg

A robin who Lil Gator saves from some cardboard "monsters" by the river.

    Pot Kid
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_pot_kid.jpg

An armadillo who Lil Gator finds hiding inside a large pot.

  • No Name Given: Only known as Pot Kid.
  • Sleepyhead: They had been spending all their time sleeping inside a pot when Lil Gator finds them, and after they join the others at the playground, they've fallen asleep inside a pot again.

    Part-Timer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_part_timer.jpg

A spotted hyena who works as an ice cream vendor.

  • Animal Stereotypes: Inverted. Hyenas are usually stereotyped as manic and constantly laughing, but the Part-Timer is more morose and apathetic.
  • Apathetic Clerk: They're unenthusiastic about their job and are not amused when Lil' Gator offers to pay "loot" (a torn-up take-out bag) for the ice cream as opposed to three dollars as it costs.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": They are only known as "Part-Timer" in the game.
  • Heinous Hyena: Averted. They're a spotted hyena, but they're not malicious or dangerous.

    Billy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_billy.jpg

A blue whale who Lil Gator helps after a bowling ball gets stuck in his blowhole.

  • Gentle Giant: Unlike every other character in the game, he's not a Funny Animal; he's literally a whale, albeit a "small" one because he's still a little kid. Still, he's just as friendly as most of the other kids Lil Gator will meet, and he's so big that you can literally climb him like a cliff.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: He's only character in the cast who doesn't have a humanoid design and pretty much looks like a Cartoon Whale, right down to being confined to water.

    Mr. Doddler
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_mr_doddler.jpg

A sloth who seems to work at the park, seeing as Lil Gator is already acquainted with him.

  • Grumpy Old Man: Downplayed; while his complaining about the "hooligans" messing up his roof is clearly meant to evoke this, he's friendly enough to Lil Gator and gives them a piece of bubble gum as thanks for cleaning up the mess. He also doesn't necessarily seem old so much as middle-aged.
  • Sluggish Sloths: Played with. He is not portrayed as particularly slow or sleepy, but he has clearly aged and therefore requires Lil Gator to get some cardboard "monsters" off of the roof of his house for him.

    Roe, Beeritney, and Sorin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_roe_beeritney_sorin.jpg

A trio of kids who like to have lunch together. Unfortunately, none of them are happy with the lunches they brought today, but Lil Gator offers to help solve the problem.

  • Furry Confusion: Sorin is an anthropomorphic cardinal. Regular cardinals appear as background animals in the game.
  • Punny Name: Beeritney is a bee.

    Joe
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_joe.jpg

A bird who really admires the "cool kids" group and wants to be friends with them.

  • Ass Kicking Pose: Is practicting one of these, hoping it'll impress Martin's group. He asks Lil Gator which of three different poses they think is cooler.

    Roy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_roy.jpg

A raccoon who is running a junk shop in the park in an attempt to clean up the trash left around the islands.

  • Animal Stereotypes: Played with. Raccoons are usually portrayed as digging around in trash, but he's dedicated to cleaning up the litter on the islands. He admits that he does dig around in trash cans, though, and teaches Lil Gator how to do the same in order to get loot.
  • Older Than They Look: Subverted. He hints that he's much older than he looks, claiming to be "probably older than this park" and "older than dirt", but then reveals that he's only 16.

    Romeo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_romeo.jpg

The leader of the "hidden ninja village" located in the forest.

  • Highly-Visible Ninja: Justified, as he and the others are just kids pretending that they're ninjas.

    Oscar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_oscar.jpg

A member of the ninja village. He's been exiled for saying "unspeakable things".

  • My God, What Have I Done?: Is rather despondent about the "unspeakable" things he said when Lil Gator finds him.
  • Serious Business: It turns out that the reason he was kicked out is that he and Romeo had a disagreement over whether a particular season of their favorite TV show was good or not.

    Sierra
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_sierra_6.jpg

A member of the ninja village who is into origami.

    Becca
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_becca.jpg

A shark who is worried because she has lost something very important.

  • Fetch Quest: Lil Gator needs to find her retainer, which she lost in the river and has washed up by the bottom of a waterfall.
  • Furry Reminder: She mentions that she lost her item when she was "taking a breath of water", because she's a fish. This is also presumably why she is inside a tub after joining the others at the playground.

    Madeline
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_madeline.jpg

A mouse who asks Lil Gator if they're lost.

  • Irony: She's the smallest character in the game, but calls Lil Gator "little thing". Lil Gator lampshades the irony of it, saying "she was, like, a foot tall".

    Gunther
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_gunther.jpg

A hippo who greatly admires the "legendary hero" Lil Gator and wants to be their sidekick.

  • Ascended Fanboy: Double subverted. He gets really excited when meeting his hero Lil Gator and asks if he can be their sidekick; unfortunately, he soon realizes that he's not quite cut out for it as he quickly gets tired from trying to follow Lil Gator around. Lil Gator encourages him to join the playground anyway, saying that there's probably someone else there who could use a sidekick, and Gunther agrees and ends up becoming Tom's sidekick instead.

    Dennis, Buck, and Zander
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_dennis_buck_zander.jpg

Velma's three hyperactive younger brothers, who she asks Lil Gator to help with because she's lost control of them.

  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: They have very short attention spans; on the plus side, this makes it easy for Lil Gator to distract them enough to get them to go back to Velma.
  • Keet: Three hyperactive little kids who are constantly running around and shouting about ice cream.
  • No Indoor Voice: All of their lines are in Caps Lock, showing how overexcited they are.
  • No Name Given: Subverted; their dialogue boxes identify them only as "Cow Kid", but Velma mentions their names in her dialogue.

    Twig
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_twig.jpg
A dog who wants Lil Gator to show them how to do a flip jump.

  • Keet: They always seem to be very excited and never stop running around, except when talking to Lil Gator.
  • Shout-Out: Makes one to Peppy Hare's famous "do a barrel roll" line from the Star Fox series if you talk to them at the playground.

    Mochi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_mochi.jpg
A bear with a fear of heights who Lil Gator finds on top of some mountains.

  • Didn't Think This Through: He climbed up some mountains hoping to find the hero, and only remembered after the fact that he was afraid of heights. He gets over it when Lil Gator reminds him that Fall Damage doesn't exist in this game.

    Ssumantha
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_ssumantha.jpg
A possum who wants to see a demonstration of a diving move.

    Pepperoni
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lil_gator_game_pepperoni.jpg

An ostrich who has set up an obstacle course on some rocks by the water. They discourage Lil Gator from trying their course, saying that they made it "too hard" and it's impossible to beat.
