The Class

    open/close all folders

    Kaspar Kordes
    Joosep Rääk
  • Bully Hunter: He and Kaspar stand up to their class at the end of the film. And when I say stand up to their class, I mean attack their class in the cafeteria armed with guns.
  • Bully Magnet: Sadly, he is one.
  • Butt-Monkey: In a rare tragic example.
  • Driven to Suicide: After he and Kaspar kill Anders and his friends, they decide to shoot themselves in the head on the count of 3. However, while Joosep does this, Kaspar doesn't.
  • Face–Heel Turn: When earlier given the suggestion to shoot his classmates, he wasn't above it. After he and Kaspar are humiliated on the beach, however, he changes his mind and steals weapons from his father so they can take revenge.
  • Foil: He and Kerli have both been bullied by their classmates. The major difference is that Joosep had way worse bullying problems than Kerli, and it drove him to shoot up his school. Hers wasn't as bad, and she didn't do anything similar to it at all. Although, she is suspected of being in on the shooting in Episode 1 of Elu Parast.
  • Hidden Depths: He is interested in computers, and has made websites for several companies. If he was still alive to this day, maybe he could've gotten a job at a tech company.
  • Iron Woobie: Despite his severe bullying problems, he's positive that he'll be able to survive long enough to graduate, then he'll never have to deal with his classmates ever again. That is, until he decides that the best course of action is murder.
  • Murder-Suicide: In the climactic shooting, Joosep kills 4 people: Olav, Riina, Anders, and himself.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Joosep kills Riina during the climactic shooting, and later shoots and injures Thea. Had Kaspar not intervened, he likely would've killed her too.
    Anders Allikmäe
  • Big Bad: He's the one leading the class in bullying Joosep and Kaspar.
  • Defiant to the End: During the climactic shooting, he and Paul manage to get the jump on Joosep and steal his rifle. Unfortunately for them, Kaspar notices and kills Paul, forcing Anders to make a break for it.
  • Hate Sink: The biggest one of all.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After everything he's done, you will not feel sorry for him at all once Joosep kills him.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Once Anders is the only primary target left alive, he tries to get away from Joosep and Kaspar before they can kill him. Ultimately, he fails and is killed by Joosep.
    Paul Mägi
  • Defiant to the End: During the climactic shooting, he and Anders manage to get the jump on Joosep and steal his rifle. Unfortunately for them, Kaspar notices and kills Paul, forcing Anders to make a break for it.
  • The Dragon: He's Anders' best friend.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After everything he's done, you will not feel sorry for him at all once Kaspar kills him.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Anders might've been Joosep's chief tormentor, but according to Episode 5 of Elu Parast, Paul was the one who started the poor kid's misfortunes.
    Thea Tooming
  • A Day in the Limelight: She's the main focus of Episode 4 of Elu Parast.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: She's one of the kids bullying Joosep, and given that, she doesn't like Kaspar defending him, and publicly dumps him as a result once she's called out. Joosep almost killed her for this, but she only lived because Kaspar stopped him.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: Throughout the film, it's made increasingly clear that she doesn't like Kaspar defending Joosep, given that she's likely to be one of the bullies, and it caused her to dump him just to save face with the rest of the class. This nearly gets her killed in the climactic shooting, and once she's out of the hospital, she starts to feel bad about what she did, and in the fourth episode of Elu Parast, she tried to make contact with him (hopefully to apologize).
  • Heroic BSoD: She has one at the end of Episode 4 of Elu Parast after Kaspar denies her request to talk to her.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: She dumped Kaspar on the beach just to save face with her classmates, and then she was shot and injured by Joosep one day later. Granted, she didn't die, but after what she did, seeing that happen to her should be enough to satisfy some viewers.
    Riina Pajumets
  • Get Out!: After Anders and Kaspar's fight at the house part early on in the film forces Kaspar to leave, Riina starts screaming at Anders to get out of her house.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Downplayed. While we know that everyone in the titular class except Kaspar and Joosep is a bully, we never explicitly saw her doing anything to the boys (alone, at least). Given that she is a bully though, it's possible that you won't feel bad for her once Joosep kills her.
    Toomas Sinijärv
  • A Day in the Limelight: He's the main focus of Episode 6 of Elu Parast.
  • Defiant to the End: During the climactic shooting, he tried to steal Joosep's rifle. Unfortunately for him, not only was he unable to do so, but it also got him shot.
  • Heel–Face Turn: The sixth episode does a good job at making us like Toomas by showing that he feels remorse for everything he did to Joosep and Kaspar, and in the following episode, he takes the stand at Kaspar's trial to try and apologize to him.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After everything he's done, you will not feel sorry for him at all once Joosep shoots and injures him. Of course, that's until he...
    • Took a Level in Kindness: After he received his comeuppance for bullying Joosep and Kaspar in the form of the former shooting him, leaving him wheelchair-bound, he starts to feel bad about what he did. By the end of the episode, he's likely close to fully redeeming himself, and the viewers will almost certainly start to like him for becoming a better person. He even takes the stand at Kaspar's trial to apologize to him for what he did.
    Tiit Vaher
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After everything he's done, you will not feel sorry for him at all once Joosep shoots and injures him.
    Olav Neeme
    Kati Kass
  • Alpha Bitch: She's like a female version of Anders.
  • Lack of Empathy: Even after the shooting, she hasn't changed one bit. At least that's what we see in the first episode of Elu Parast.
    Liisa Kadak
  • Beta Bitch: She's like a female version of Paul.
  • Lack of Empathy: Even after the shooting, she hasn't changed one bit. At least that's what we see in the first episode of Elu Parast.
    Kerli
  • Accomplice by Inaction: When she spotted Joosep and Kaspar with guns, she chose to say and do nothing about it, and walked away at their request. This allowed the boys to kill 4 of their classmates, and injure 4 more students.
  • A Day in the Limelight: She's the main focus of Episode 1 of Elu Parast.
  • Ascended Extra: She was a minor character in the original film, and her only major appearance in it was when she encountered Joosep and Kaspar, spots their guns, and decides to let them have their revenge. She makes several more appearances in Elu Parast and is even the first episode's main character.
  • Foil: She and Joosep have both been bullied by their classmates. The major difference is that Joosep had way worse bullying problems than Kerli, and it drove him to shoot up his school. Hers wasn't as bad, and she didn't do anything similar to it at all. Although, she is suspected of being in on the shooting in Episode 1 of Elu Parast.
  • Goth: She was one in the film. She ditches this appearance after the Cold Open of Elu Parast Episode 1, though.
    Marilin
    Meelis
    Kerttu
    Tanel
    Jass
    Kersti
    Uku
    Aleksandra
    Liisi

Adults

    Laine
  • A Day in the Limelight: She's the main focus of Episode 3 of Elu Parast.
  • Driven to Suicide: She tries to kill herself late in Episode 3 of Elu Parast. Luckily, her husband finds and saves her.
  • Heroic BSoD: She has one at the end of the first episode of Elu Parast when she finally learns about how her entire class was responsible for driving Joosep and Kaspar to commit the shooting.
    Margus Rääk
  • A Day in the Limelight: He's the main focus of Episode 2 of Elu Parast.
  • Abusive Parents: Downplayed. Late in the film, he gets physical on Joosep in a demonstration of "standing up for oneself", but other than that, we haven't seen him mistreat his son in any way, shape, or form.
  • Adults Are Useless: Despite being the only adult who knows about Joosep's bullying problems, the only thing he does about it is encourage him to stand up for himself, something that he clearly can't do.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Margus knows about Joosep's bullying problems, and wants him to stand up for himself, and hopefully fight back against Anders to scare the others away from bullying him. He later gets his wish, and Joosep does stand up to his class with Kaspar, but not in the way he was hoping.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Quite a literal example in this film, as he, being a former military man, owns several different kinds of firearms. At the end of the film, Joosep steals some from him so he and Kaspar can take revenge on their classmates.
  • History Repeats: In the second episode of Elu Parast, Margus is beaten up by the fathers of some of the people killed in the shooting in a manner reminiscent of how Joosep's (Margus's son) classmates bullied him.
  • Papa Wolf: Downplayed. He's the only adult who knows about Joosep's bullying problems, and he's concerned about it, but all he does about it is encourage him to stand up for himself (such as beating up Anders to frighten the class into respecting him from then on), and Joosep is unable to do so, always depending on Kaspar to keep him safe, so Margus is as unhelpful as ever.
    Liina Rääk
  • Mama Bear: Around the end of the second act and beginning of the third one, Liina grows concerned that Joosep is having issues at school, and alerts the school administration, which puts his classmates in danger of being exposed as bullies. Unfortunately, by the time everyone realizes what's been going on, it's too late. Joosep and Kaspar had already killed 4 of their classmates.
