  • Catharsis Factor: The whole film seems like a test to see how far you can go into the movie without getting out of your seats and attempting to beat up the bullies in this film. Once you reach the end, you'll be so satisfied to see that those jerks are getting what's coming to them, you might not even care what Joosep and Kaspar are doing.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Estonia never suffered a school shooting before for a while, which made this film pretty shocking, as In-Universe, the shooting that occurred at the end of this film would technically be the country's first-ever school shooting. However, in the real world, sometime after the film's release, a 15-year-old high school student shot and killed his teacher in the first-ever school shooting to occur in (you guessed it) Estonia. Not to mention that two other school shootings occurred in nearby Finland, with motives that are kinda similar to Joosep and Kaspar's.
  • It Was His Sled: It ends with a school shooting. In fact, the ending is what many of those who didn't watch the movie know about it.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Almost everything about the film is this, especially if you've been bullied as badly as Joosep and Kaspar did. The climactic shooting at the end is perhaps one of the scariest parts of the film, particularly if you've been affected by anything similar to it.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Clearly, you're supposed to sympathize with Joosep and Kaspar due to their excessive bullying problems. However, the film ends with them shooting up their school and killing 4 of their classmates as revenge. Given that school shootings are a serious issue despite Estonia never suffering from one before until sometime after the movie's release, and bullying can be a major cause of them, it almost leaves you with a sense of confusion because you don't know whether you should feel bad for Joosep and Kaspar for what they've gone through, or be disgusted by them for what they did.
  • The Woobie: Joosep. He's been bullied far longer than Kaspar, who likely did the same thing as the other classmates before he saw the error of his ways. Of course, he could very well cross into Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds territory since he was likely the mastermind of the shooting at the end of the film, and the weapons came from his father's safe. Still, you can't help but feel sorry for him (unless you believe that what he and Kaspar did was wrong, regardless of the motive).
