Main Characters

     Adonis

Adonis

Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa (Japanese), Ben Stegmair, Brittney Karbowski (Young) (English)

  • Character Development:
    • While Adonis is still a racist towards humans, he's at least compassionate enough to remember what Chloe had gone through back when she's still alive and brought back Doroka instead.
    • His fight against Director Shirousagi provides to him that even if he wants to take down Redia, he cannot fight alone. Therefore, he bonds more with Doroka as a partner.
  • Fantastic Racism: He has nothing but utter contempt towards humanity for every horrible act they've committed, including the murder of Chloe.
  • Hope Bringer: Vastly downplayed, but has some moments as a Witch’s human apprentice. Punch sees him to this degree ever since he was rescued by his mentor Chloe, which likely prompted him to run the village of all decent humans left and encouraged Doroka to bring that side of him out more.
  • Meaningful Name: Adonis is named after the Greek mythological figure who was loved by the goddess Aphrodite, and according to legends the witches were created by God to guide and help mankind.
  • Pet the Dog: He made the right choice of not bringing back Chloe, as he remembered her Dark and Troubled Past and concluded that she doesn't deserve to live in a hostile world like the one he's currently in. Chloe gave him one last gratitude for his decision of not going through with it.
  • Tragic Villain: Watched his master and mother figure Chloe be murdered right in front of him and was imprisoned for ten years till he broke out and wanted revenge on humanity for what they did.
  • Villain Protagonist: Wants to exterminate all humanity to avenge Chloe, but considering the way the humans are, Adonis is more of a hero by comparison.
     Doroka

Doroka

Voiced by: Azumi Waki (Japanese), Alexis Tipton (English)

Redia Empire

     In General
  • False Utopia: The Redia Empire looks like a super advanced state that demonstrates the accomplishments of humanity. However, the outside turns out to be a barren wasteland due to radiated nuclear fallout resulting from Anti-Magic. And the whole Empire was created by a Witch operating in the shadows so she could rule the planet herself.
  • Humans Are the Real Monsters: Adonis sees all humans this way and for good reason as they hunt down, torture and murder witches out of sadism or progress and see no problem in seeing them suffer which is what drove Adonis to his vengeance.
  • Hypocrite: Sees witches as monsters and must be put down for their magic use for the kingdom and that they must die since they are "evil" but when Adonis gets revenge on them for their actions, they ignorantly ignore the evil they pulled that drove Adonis over the edge with Chloe's murder.
  • Ignorant of Their Own Ignorance: They see murdering witches as a way to develop progress instead of thinking of a more peaceful solution with them and wanting to kill Adonis after his (justified) slaughter of the kingdom proves this as they fail to understand why Adonis is doing this as it was their own fault for murdering Chloe in the first place.
  • Knight Templar: Pretty much everyone in Redia Empire, especially in its government and military. They are either a nut job or this, believing that Witches are the absolute evil of the world that must be exterminated, completely oblivious to the fact their genocidal war and very technology is killing the planet.
     Emperor Goethe
    Queen Andromeda
The Queen and eventually ruler of the Redia Empire. Her real identity is Dorothea Grethe, a Witch cast out from her original world of Caliburn. Now transported into the world of Ruin, she covertly turned humanity and parallel versions of her former enemies against her kind to prepare for her revenge against her mother.
  • Big Bad: She is the true villain and runner of the Redia Empire, not the Emperor.
  • Evil Diva: Dorothea acts like an idol instead of an empress, and she uses her Love Magic to take over the entire Redia Empire.
  • The Faceless: Always wears an opaque veil over her upper face until she kills the Emperor and is revealed to be Dorothea Grethe.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: In the prequel, she was the daughter of a mid-class merchant family, unaware of her heritage to the First Witch of her own world. Now, she has become the Big Bad who has brainwashed most of humanity in the Ruin world with her Love Magic to exterminate the rest of her kind for the sake of revenge and ambition to rule the planet.
  • Hot Consort: The Emperor always praises her beauty because she's bewitched him with her Love Magic.
  • The Man Behind the Man: She is the one responsible for the Gear Expansion and the extermination of her kind, all so she can rule humanity on her own and take revenge on her mother in her original world for what happened to her in the prequel.
  • Protagonist Journey to Villain: She started out the supporting deuteragonist to Alfred Pendragon in the Kingdom of Caliburn prequel. Those events led her to be the Queen of the Redia Empire and the driver of the Witch Hunts and insanity of mankind.
    Director Shirosagi
    General Yamato
    Yuki

Other Humans

    Punch
The head of a bike gang that runs a slum outside of the Redia Empire and its allying nations. He picks up Adonis and Doroka after their peril on the Moon and gives significant amount of support for both of them.
  • Animal Motifs: Punch is chickens, who are friendly and social creatures, even if they are a bit awkward. He is also dressed like a chicken just like his Kingdom of Caliburn counterpart.
  • The Apocalypse Brings Out the Best in People: He runs a village very well despite its horrible conditions and in the face of conquest by the Redia Empire. He also gives an important talk with Doroka that convinces her to stop getting Adonis to give up on revenge and instead support him to save whatever good in the world is left.
  • Gentle Giant: He may look gruff, but he turns out to be a very decent guy.
  • Only Sane Man: Punch protects the remaining good humans left. He is not only well aware that what the Redia Empire and its allies are doing is completely abominable but also understands the plight Doroka and Adonis are in. He even goes to support both of their goals, knowing Doroka wants to save people and it is best for her to guide Adonis so he enacts his revenge properly.

Kingdom of Caliburn characters

    Alfredo Pendragon

    Queen Dorossel
