Main Characters
Kaito Miyamae
- Bad Liar: Zig-Zagged. While he's not bad in the act of lying itself, as Mai reveals, every time he lies about something, it ends up biting him in the ass by actually becoming true that she actually thought it was magic at one point.
- Blessed with Suck: Charm is a powerful ability that would allow Kaito to achieve his dreams, but not only does he initially have no control on when it activates, it also comes with the stigma on charm-based magic, which combined with his own reputation, makes his life harder.
- Charm Person: His magic ability is Charm. If he makes eye contact with anyone when it is active, they fall madly in love with him.
- Hero with Bad Publicity: Kinda his own fault. During the period of his life before his magic ability awakened, while also having bad grades, he would spout that the reason he wants to be a magic-wielder is so that "he'll be popular with the girls". Once his Charm ability awakened people remembered his previous rants and instantly assume that he will abuse his power to make a harem, they label him the "worst of the worst".
- Hoist by His Own Petard: As described above, his reputation in the magic community is his fault due to his lie, which came back to bite him in the ass when he awakened a magic that lets him do just that.
- Magical Eye: His Charm magic is used when making eye contact.
Yui Tengen
- Heir to the Dojo: Is the heir of the Tengan-style magical combat.
- Yandere: She can be a bit intense when other girls get close to Kaito.
Mai Minase-Florence
- But Not Too Foreign: She has blonde hair, blue eyes and her family name is a mix of Japanese and Western.
- Signature Headgear: She's been wearing her red ribbon ever since she was a child.
Kiara Aoi
- Book Dumb: Kiara may be a fairly skilled mage, but she isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. When challenging Kaito to a rematch, she attempts to counteract his Charm magic (which activates when making eye contact) by wearing a blindfold. This obviously makes it impossible for her to actually see anything and causes her to attack in the wrong direction.
- Fangirl: For all the bad things she says when she talks about her, she's actually a fan of Mai and looks up to her.
- Fiery Redhead: Quite literally; Kiara is not only loud, short-tempered, boastful, and arrogant, but a lot of her attacks incorporate fire.
- Playing with Fire: Tends to favor fire-based magic.
- Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Ever since the inconclusive duel in chapter 1, she is this to Kaito trying to get a rematch but ends up getting affected by his Charm.
Ayane Yumesaki
- Charm Person: Her Captivate magic allows her to influence a person's mind. Unlike, Charm however, its effectiveness is based on factors such as the caster's appearance and the target's preferences.
- Cute Clumsy Girl: Frequently trips over herself and causes a Suggestive Collision with Kaito
- Does Not Like Men: When Ayane was younger, the activation of her Captivate magic attracted many male students to her and caused vicious rumors to be spread about her. In the present, she admits to still having a small case of androphobia.
- Embarrassing Nickname: After Ayane's Accidental Kiss with Kaito, Yui starts referring to her as "Homewrecker No. 2" (with Moeka being being "Homewrecker No. 1")
- Expy: Looks almost identical to Jindou Hikari from the author's previous work, Will It Be the World or Her?
- Signature Headgear: Never seen without her two love heart hairclips.
- What Is This Feeling?: Feels confused over her growing feelings for Kaito. After learning that Yui had kissed him, Ayane wonders why she feels a pain in her chest.
The Seiryuu Academy of Magic
Owl Tier Students
Kyoya Tsuchigami
One of the opponents chosen to fight Kaito and his team during their trial. Kyoya has extremely sensitive allergies and is always seen wearing a face mask.
- Apologetic Attacker: When his teammates, the Kagamikawa Twins, get charmed by Kaito during the trial and therefore become a liability to Kyoya, he doesn't hesitate to knock them out. However, this was done under Hijiri's orders and Kyoya claims he'll apologize and try to make it up to the two after the fight.
- Hidden Depths: He apparently spends a lot of time helping with the school's various extracurricular activities.
- Just Following Orders: He wasn't very keen on participating in the trial nor was he too happy with the idea of knocking out the Kagamikawa twins should they be charmed, however he is afraid of defying Hijiri. When charmed, he incessantly apologizes and swears he was only doing as he was told.
Suzu and Anzu Kagamikawa
Twin sisters who, along with Kyoya, fought against Kaito and his team during their trial.
- Cute Little Fangs: Suzu has one on the right side of her mouth.
- Girlish Pigtails: Both of them have their tied in pigtails, which emphasizes their bratty personalities.
- Identical Twin Id Tag: Anzu's ribbons (the one on her uniform and the ones tied around her hair) are thinner than her sister's and she doesn't tuck in her shirt. The two also have heart markings under an eye; Suzu her right, Anzu her left

Ikazuchi Shunsuke
An Owl Tier mage who happens to be a huge pervert. Before Kaito was promoted, Shunsuke was the only Owl Tier to have talent for a single type of magic, which is lightning-based.
- Harem Seeker: Is incredibly jealous of Kaito's charm ability and claims he'd use such a power to create a harem for himself.
- Only Sane Man: Subverted; he presents himself as one among Owl Tiers when first meeting Kaito, acting friendly towards him and dismissing the other Owl Tiers as a bunch of "weirdos". He then proceeds to expresses an intense jealously of Kaito's abilities and admits his desire to have said abilities so he could use them to create a harem.
Faculty
Takizawa
A teacher who is charged of the Hatchling tier students.
- Magic Hair: Her magic includes Prehensile Hair that she can even shape as an arm and hand.
The Principal
The principal of Seiryuu Academy.
- No Name Given: Has only ever been referred to as "The Principal".
- Older Than They Look: She looks like an elementary schooler but is actually 127 years old.

Moeka Saotome
- Compelling Voice: The spell "Maiden's Whisper" allows to her to make an individual comply with her requests, as long as they are within a close proximity.
Mahito Hijiri
A soft spoken and quiet individual. Hijiri was the main proponent of removing Kaito's Charm ability. Although he backed down after Moeka took in Kaito as her apprentice, Hijiri has since shown an intense and unusual interest in Kaito and the development of his magical abilities.
- Eyes Always Shut: His eyes have yet to be seen opened.
- Perpetual Smiler: Rarely seen without a small grin across his face, which, combined with his constantly shut eyes, makes him look rather creepy.
- Power Nullifier: He can apparently remove another mage's power and was about to do this to Kaito before Mai and Moeka interrupted him.
The Principal

Zenji
A short tempered and hot blooded mage. He was one of the Sages advocating for the removal of Kaito's ability, but was stopped by Moeka.
- Hot-Blooded: When The Principal warns the other Sages that Kaito's ability activates upon eye contact, Zenji's response is to smash Kaito's face into the ground.
