Ground Control and Dark Conspiracy

    Crayven Corporation

In General

One of the biggest and most well-known corporations at the time of the first game, leading the colonization efforts.
  • Corporate Warfare: They regularly indulge in it, though mostly against the Order of the New Dawn.
  • Death from Above: They have a slightly more varied aerodyne selection compared to the Order, featuring the slow, but deadly Bomber Aerodynes.
  • MegaCorp: Duh.
  • Mighty Glacier: Their general modus operandi compared to the Order. Their units are slower and slightly weaker, but are better armored.
  • One Nation Under Copyright: Or rather, numerous worlds under copyright.

Major Sarah Parker

in Dark Conspiracy

Voiced By: Jennifer Hale

The Player Character in Ground Control's first campaign and Dark Conspiracy. A Crayven Corporation Major who has problems with corporate authority.

  • A Mother to Her Men: One of her main problems with Crayven authority is their casual disregard for their troops' wellbeing. And in Dark Conspiracy, when negotiating with Cardinal Kila Balor to do her dirty work, she demands that any of her troops who wish to escape from Krig-7B be given safe passage.
  • Arch-Enemy: Has found one in Enrica Hayes.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: She caused no shortage of headaches to her superiors with her regular insubordination and attitude, but since her combat record is very impressive, they keep her employed.
  • Combat Pragmatist: She has few scruples about using asymmetrical warfare and underhanded tactics to come out on top.
  • Deadpan Snarker: There's barely a single mission where she doesn't have a sarcastic quip during briefing.
  • First-Name Basis: Major Dwight Thomas called her by her first name in a cutscene and a few times in-game. She has consistently returned the favor throughout the whole game since the first instance, her voice dripping with sarcasm each time.
  • Important Haircut: During Ground Control she has her hair in a neat ponytail. In Dark Conspiracy, her hair is loose, nearly shoulder-length and messy, to show she's gone rogue.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: She may be sarcastic, dry-witted and disrespectful at times, but she's always willing to do the right thing.
  • Majorly Awesome: She's a Major, and has kicked a lot of ass in the game and in her backstory.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Has this reaction upon The Reveal that she's been used as a pawn by M.
  • The Nicknamer: She tends to use nicknames for other characters and groups instead of their real names. Her most notable one is calling Jarred Stone "Sparky".
  • Older Than They Look: Judging from her appearance in briefings and cutscenes (like the one to the right) you'd be forgiven for thinking she was in her early 20s. However, according to the game manual, she's 35.
  • Player Character: In the First game and its expansion.
  • Roaring Rampage of Rescue: The final mission in Dark Conspiracy has her doing this in order to save Jarred Stone.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Has a habit of doing this, which often leads to her clashing with her superiors.
  • Snark Knight: See Deadpan Snarker above.
  • Unwitting Pawn: She turned out to be this for M during Dark Conspiracy.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: It's unclear what happened to her after the events of Dark Conspiracy.

Director Enrica Hayes

Voiced by: Tasia Valenza

Sarah Parker's direct superior in the first game, and a high-ranking official in the Crayven Corporation.

  • Ambiguously Brown: In Ground Control she has a notably darker skin color compared to other characters.
  • Age Lift / Race Lift: She looks much older and paler in Dark Conspiracy compared to the main game.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Forms one with Cardinal Aegiri in the climax of the Order campaign.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Invoked by her in Dark Conspiracy. She takes advantage of her knowledge of Jarred Stone's location to weasel her way out of Parker killing her.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Fits this trope to a T.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In the briefing for the very first Crayven mission, she expresses annoyance at Parker for being 8 minutes late, and gives her less forces than requested (one squad as opposed to three) due to it "not being financially viable" before casually dismissing the Major before leaving to attend a staff meeting.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She rarely raises the tone of her voice, yet it's obvious she's only interested in the results, and not the casualties taken to achieve those results.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite her actions in the main game and the expansion, she gets away scot-free.
  • Manipulative Bitch: See Can't Kill You, Still Need You above.
  • Unwitting Pawn: She herself ends up manipulated by M.
