Tropes applying to the Chaos Control Company as a whole:

Humans

Wisdom

the Chaos, Infinity the Chaos

Voiced by: Hirofumi Nojima (JP), Brett Bauer (EN)

The CEO of the Chaos Control Company. He wants to "upgrade" the world as he sees fit and sees monsters as little more than tools. In pursuit of his goals, he first sends Sakate to capture Batzz, then sponsors his participation in the World Buddy Masters. When Gao wins the tournament, Wisdom arrives to personally steal the Mirage Card given as a prize. In his hands, the Mirage Card becomes a new flag called The Chaos, which allows him to use any monster with the Chaos attribute regardless of world while increasing the size limit on his monsters to 99. His Buddy monster is Ruler of CHAOS, Gear God VII.

As of the season's 47th episode, he has modified his deck with a card that under specific conditions upgrades his flag to Infinity the Chaos, which removes the size limit on his monsters and can attack on its own. He has also upgraded his Buddy to Ultimate CHAOS, Geargod Complete.

  • Big Bad: Of season four so far.
  • Cap: His new flag allows him to bring in monsters with sizes totaling up to a staggering 99. Infinity the Chaos removes the cap completely.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: To Kyoya. Personality-wise both men want to control the world, seeing it as their destiny and are willing to use others to further their goals and both have terrific PR skills to make the general public none the wiser. The difference here is that Kyoya is willing to work with his buddy Azi Dahaka and, though he does use him for his deity form, still respects him. On the other hand, Wisdom hates monsters, turn them into cybernetic hybrids that are under his control and only see them, including his own buddy which he created, as tools.
  • Fantastic Racism: Sees monsters as being beneath humans, only worthy of being used as tools. He even tells Athora to be silent because the latter is not human.
  • Mechanical Abomination: His new flag is mass of metal tendrils that covers the entire landscape and attacks at if it were a monster.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: His motivation for "upgrading" the world is to bring about an absolute peace. Not a bad thing in and of itself
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: A thorough believer in this trope.

Sakate Onigashira

Katana World

Voiced by: Nathan Hunt (EN)

A sadistic Katana World user and master of disguise who works for Wisdom. He first attempts to capture Batzz for Wisdom with CHAOS Yamigedo as his Buddy. He later joins the World Buddy Masters tournament in an attempt to win the unique Mirage Card for his boss. To that end, he uses a Katana World deck focusing on the Ambush mechanic with his true Buddy, the equally cruel Oni Boss, Kid Ibuki.

  • In the Hood: Always has his hood up, except when disguised as someone else.
  • Kick the Dog: His favorite activity, by his own admission.
  • Master of Disguise: He can disguise himself as other characters well enough to fool most people. Batzz sees right through him, though.
  • My Death Is Just the Beginning: How Ambush monsters work. If a monster is destroyed with an Ambush monster in its soul, that Ambush monster can be brought in and will cause an extra effect if called this way.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red oni to the other two's blue.
  • Sadist: He loves bullying people and crushing them under his heel. He even lead Noboru on by pretending to be a fan, who he then brutally crushed in their Buddyfight to the point of leaving Noboru with physical injuries, all for his own amusement.
  • Slasher Smile: His default expression.

Brutal of the Martial Arts

Danger World

Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto (JP), Griffin Cork (EN)

A former mercenary and Danger World user who works for Wisdom as one of the Chaos Three. His job is to capture monsters in order to create new Chaos Monsters. He uses a golem-themed deck with Demonic Rock-Mech Trooper, Dra-gollum as his Buddy and treats his monsters as if they were soldiers.

  • Golem: His monsters are various animal-themed golems.
  • Hidden Depths: It's been noted that while he does work with the Chaos Corporation, he doesn't seem that bad of a person, something that has been commented on by other characters who question his allegiance.
  • Hired Guns: He was a very skilled mercenary before he worked for Wisdom and is a wanted man because of it.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue oni to Keisetsu's red. Of the two, Brutal is more soft-spoken and calm.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: He's taken Wisdom's promises of a lasting world peace to heart and wants to help bring them about.

Keisetsu of the Sword Arts

Legend World

Voiced by: Arisa Shida (JP), Alex Bergen (EN)

A young boy who works for Wisdom as one of the Chaos three. Like Brutal, he was assigned to capture monsters to make them into Chaos monsters. Kanata and him also know each other. His buddy is Laevateinn, a sword from Legend World with a will of its own.

  • Cool Board: His core gadget is a skateboard. Keisetsu uses it to move around the arena and collect his swords when he attacks with them.
  • Cool Sword: Like Shosetsu Kirisame before him, Keisetsu's buddy is a sword. He also has several more in his deck.
  • Fantastic Racism: Appears to share his boss' attitude towards monsters.
  • Hypocrite: It's pretty much stated that he only joined the Chaos Company to get stronger and defeat Kanata and follows the philosophy that players shouldn't rely on monsters. And yet he relies on Wisdom to become stronger.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Brutal's blue and the blue to Sakate's red.
  • Shout-Out: A redhead who fights using replicas of legendary weapons? Are we talking about Keisetsu or Shirou Emiya?
  • Sore Loser: Before joining the Chaos Company, he lost to Kanata during a shop tournament, a shop that he had always won in. It was also the first tournament Kanata took place in. He had Rage Quit the game because of it causing Kanata to quit as well.

Grimoire of the Sorcery Arts

Magic World

Voiced by: Hitoshi Yanai (JP), Jonathan Molinski (EN)

Wisdom's secretary. He is also the director of Grimoire Park, an amusement park owned by the Chaos Control Company. During Buddyfights, he changes his outfit to a "fighter mode." He uses a Magic World deck based on the Plague attribute with "Ashen Death Sorcery" Yersinieas as his Buddy.

When Geargod awakens to sapience, Grimoire begins aiding it in secret in accordance with the wishes of the founder of the Wisdom Clan.

  • Affably Evil: In keeping with his butler motif, he's never rude. Not even to his opponents.
  • Anime Hair: His fighter mode makes his hairdo spikier.
  • It Amused Me: He likes to draw out Buddyfights with a card that increases both players' life totals so that he can mess with people for his own amusement.
  • Non-Action Guy: Until his battle with Ku Teito in episode 42, Grimoire hadn't fought anyone and remained on the sidelines.
  • Plaguemaster: His deck has a disease theme.
  • Technicolor Toxin: Disease in this case, but the noxious theme is still there.
  • Theme Naming: His monsters are named after various diseases.

Monsters

Ruler of CHAOS, Geargod VII/Proto Chaos Machina, Geargod VIII/CHAOS Transcendent, Geargod ver.099/Ultimate CHAOS, Geargod COMPLETE

Wisdom's Buddy, a massive, mechanical Chaos monster with no world. Uniquely among monsters thus far, its size is a staggering 30. Wisdom upgrades it over the course of the season to Geargod VIII and eventually to Geargod 099, which has a size of 90. The latter upgrade causes it to gain a mind of its own during a Buddyfight with Gao, whom it wants to fight again before plunging the world into eternal darkness. The characters usually refer to it as Geargod followed by the current form's number for short.

It was created by the founder of the Wisdom Clan to be his Buddy, but was a mindless automaton at the time. Sometime later, the original Wisdom merged himself with his robot to save his own life and become immortal. This changed Geargod's form to the one that the present-day Wisdom uses in Buddyfights. Believing his ancestor's personality to be a mere uploaded copy, Wisdom brainwashed Geargod and upgraded it to Geargod COMPLETE, which has a size of 10000.

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Subverted. While Geargod 099 gaining a soul and breaking off from Wisdom may seem this way, as it turned out it was an intended function from the start by the Wisdom clan's Founder. Moreover, it's the result of the man's personality resurfacing.
  • All for Nothing: CHAOS Transcendent, Geargod ver.099 has a nasty Overkill ablitiy that not only ends an oppoent's battle step if they attacked six or more times that turn, but also revives three CHAOS units back onto the field.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Continuing with the tradition of main villains using huge monsters, and it's a game mechanic too. Geargod VII is size 30 and its later forms only get larger.
  • Blood Knight: After "awakening", it wants to have a Buddyfight that "resonates with (its) soul". To that end, it starts looking for Gao, going so far as to create an Evil Knockoff of him.
  • Brainwashed: Wisdom does this to it upon upgrading his flag, believing that his ancestor's personality to be an uploaded copy rather than the man himself. This process also creates Geargod COMPLETE.
  • Cyber Cyclops: Its head is comprised of a single eye, which is green in its base form and blue after its first upgrade. Averted with Geargod 099, who has a second eye above the first.
  • Fusion Dance: Geargod VII is the result of his ancestor fusing with Geargod, who was a mindless automaton at the time.
  • Graceful Loser: When it loses to Gao and Batzz, it reverses the chaosification that it had inflicted on the monsters it encountered before their battle and tells the two that he finds them interesting before leaving for Earth.
  • Floating Limbs: Its limbs float in front of it and can fly around to smash things.
  • Mechanical Monster: A huge robot.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Has two pairs of floating arms.
  • Robot Buddy: Wisdom's ancestor originally created Geargod to be one for him. Subverted as that version of Geargod was not sentient.
  • Robotic Psychopath: The first thing it does after "awakening" to full sapience is declare its intent to "cast all living beings on this world into eternal darkness." The delivery even comes with an Evil Laugh.
  • Serial Escalation: It starts at size 30 for its first two forms, then 90 for Geargod 099 and then 10000 for Geargod COMPLETE.
  • Taking the Bullet: All three versions have the CHAOS Drain ability that allows it to sacrifice another CHAOS unit to negate an attack against it.

Oni Boss, Kid Ibuki

Voiced by: Hans Wackershauser (EN)

Sakate's equally sadistic Buddy, an Oni Assassin monster from Katana World who also has the Chaos attribute. He has a larger, more monstrous version of himself do the attacking and uses the new Ambush mechanic.

  • My Death Is Just the Beginning: Not him specifically, but as an Ambush monster, he can be brought into play with an extra effect if he was in a destroyed monster's soul.
  • Sadist: Expresses many of the same cruel sentiments that Sakate does.

"Demonic Rock Mech Trooper" Dra-Gollum

Voiced by: Tsuguo Mogami (JP)

Brutal's Buddy, a Duel Golem monster from Danger World that looks like a hulking stone monster with mechanical parts.

Demonic Descent Sword of the King" Laevateinn

Voiced by: Mikoi Sasaki (JP)

Keisetsu's buddy, a sentient sword from Legend World

"Ashen Death Sorcery" Yersinieas

Voiced by: Kenta Zaima (JP), William Scott (EN)

Grimoire's Buddy. Yersinieas is a Magic World monster with the Plague attribute. He lacks Grimoire's affable personality

Other

CHAOS Gao

Voiced by: Marie Mizuno (JP)

A robotic copy of Gao created by Geargod 099 to become his buddy. He uses the Autodiety Army archtype, a CHAOS version of Gao's Thunder Empire deck with Geargod 099 as his buddy.

  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He lacks Gao's humbleness and happly declares himself the strongest.
  • Blood Knight: Manages to be even more of a Blood Knight then his orginal.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Many of his monsters have powerful abilities but require paying in Life to activate.
  • Evil Knockoff: He even has an entire Evil Knockoff version of Gao's deck.
  • Graceful Loser: Upon his first defeat, he admits he had fun and then vanishes.
  • Robot Me: To Gao. His appearance is basically Gao when he's using one of Batzz's impacts, but with a slightly darker palette for his body and clothing.
