     Osra

Osra Kiyomizu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_osra.png

Voiced & Played by: Hitenmitsuru
Race: Half-Orc Tiefling
Class: Forge Cleric

Very shortly after she was born, Osra inherited a tiefling curse from her father. With every passing day, the curse's effects slowly worsen for her; due to the nature of the curse, her father suffers for it, and she would want nothing more than to cure them both so they can live out the rest of their lives in peace. An opportunity presented itself at the end of her tenure in the Grandure Academy, where she not only gained an intense interest in forging but also signed up for the Champion's Challenge with her own party to lead, Passione. With her newfound forging skills and responsibility, Osra hopes to gain the strength, resolve, and support to abolish her family's tiefling curse for good, while also ensuring that her teammates fulfill their dreams alongside her.

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Osra's father loves to dote on her, much to her chagrin; in the recap section of "The Ranger Challenge PT.1", he gives her a hug in front of everyone which has her distinctly uncomfortable.
  • Amazon Chaser: She has a not-so-subtle crush on Taini, and she gains a very visible blush when Taini revealed herself to be a rather formidable in a tournament Osra faced her in during "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1."
  • Amazonian Beauty: Though a class that is better known for healing than brawling, Osra is no slouch when it comes to combat and, under her breastplate, she is noted to be very gifted in the chest area. Hiten briefly remarks in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1" just how much larger Osra's chest looks without wearing the plate as she gets ready to sleep on her excursion with Qwill and her fellow party members.
  • The Blacksmith: As befitting a Forge Cleric, Osra is big on crafting items for the party, especially since she had become invested in the practice shortly before starting her journey. Her profession is reflected in her combat skills: her weapon is a hammer with a spell focus. It's presumably the same tool that she uses for blacksmithing.
  • Blood Knight: Hiten frequently describes Osra as someone who's somewhat quietly willing to throw down at any given moment. When Fuffy Bearkins approaches her in "The Red Trophy" to size her up before their upcoming fight, Osra has some reservations at first—for all her boasting, Fuffy's only a little kid. Suddenly, during a handshake, Fuffy attempts to throw her one-handed. The attempt is unsuccessful, but only because Osra holds her ground with surprising effort; realizing that Fuffy will be a legitimate challenge for her, Osra's concerns vanish immediately, and she's pumped up to beat her opponent.
  • Hot-Blooded: Osra tends to be very passionate about smithing and experiencing all that her adventures have to offer. While Passione prepares itself to avenge Qwill's fallen comrades in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 2," Osra realizes that this latest expedition might win her a chance to craft Dragonscale Armor, and she is utterly stoked. She expresses her excitement about this development to Calum, who, being a Dragonborn, is somewhat disturbed.
Osra: [placing her hands on Calum's shoulders.] Listen. I want to help for truly altruistic reasons... until this exact second; I need to make myself Dragonscale Armor. You don't understand!
Calum: I'm... I'm flattered? But um, no. I like it on my skin.
Osra: Nooo; white's not my color, anyway. I meant this thing that we're gonna go fight.
Calum: ... Ahhhh, yes! I'll make sure we don't completely destroy it. But are you sure if we'll have enough to make it?
Osra: If it's a full-grown dragon, there should be enough for all of us to have a set. If we don't—
[Osra squeezes Calum's shoulders. She's trembling with—as her player, Hiten puts it—"raw smith hype."]
Osra: —If we don't. Fuck it. Up.
Calum: [timidly] Okay... Okay, scary lady.
  • The Medic: Also befitting a Cleric, Osra has quite a number of healing and curse removing spells. She is also frugal with them, to the point of being reluctant to use them to remove temporary curses.
  • Mysterious Past: Notably, Osra is the only member of Passione who does not introduce herself with her backstory in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1's" first few minutes. Her introduction is told through a letter to her father describing some very recent developments in her life—that she's taken up forging and is about to lead a team that will take on the Champion's Challenge. Snippets of her history are revealed all throughout the series, with "PT. 1," in particular, revealing that she shares a Tiefling curse with her father. Otherwise, Hiten carefully plays Osra so that only her motivations and concerns regarding the Challenge and her party are most apparent.
  • Playing with Fire: Though she isn't as dedicated to fire magic as Jet, Osra still has a number of spells dedicated to fire and is not afraid to use them. She demonstrates one such spell in her duel with Fergus in "Old Flame, New Blood." When Fergus turns himself invisible, Osra produces a wall of fire, whose large area of effect covers most of the battlefield on Fergus's side. The attack doesn't undo his invisibility spell, but Fergus's panicked, pained screaming allows Osra to pinpoint his location.
  • With Catlike Tread: Osra is not gifted in stealth, being dressed in a suit of armor more often than not. The players tend to describe Osra's movements after a poor stealth roll as them sounding like clashing pots and pans, as they do in "Old Flame, New Blood" after Osra is left spellbound by a sudden, passionate kiss from Taini.

     Cera

Cerastes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_cera.png

Voiced & Played by: 7PurpleKirbies
Race: Yuan-Ti
Class: Sorcerer (Divine Soul)/Warlock (Hexblade)

Thanks to the practices of a Yuan-Ti cult, the cruel fallen god Merrshaulk was able to father a daughter, Cera. Before she could be raised for malevolent purposes, the cult was raided by a now-disbanded Champion's Challenge team, who placed her in the custody of Karloff Hes. Growing up, Hes informed Cera about the circumstances of her birth and the threat of Merrshaulk's influence taking hold of her later in life. While Hes wanted Cera to hone her powers within the solitude of Fraygle Coast, Cera wanted explore her true potential without such a restriction. She thus takes on the Champion's Challenge in hopes that she will become strong enough to avoid her intended fate.

  • Anti-Antichrist: Cera is all too aware of Merrshaulk's dangerous intentions with her, but she refuses to fulfill her part in his plans. She continuously hones her control over her powers to ensure that they don't consume her, and she's also rather conscientious about certain creatures and objects that she interacts with. 7PurpleKirbies reveals as much in "Old Flame, New Blood," when the party travels to Hunter's Dream and encounters the many spirits therein. Cera becomes rather apprehensive about them; she's not necessarily scared of them, but she's worried that they'll detect Merrshaulk's blood in her veins and react hostilely. Thankfully, none of the spirits seem aware of the party's presence.
  • Happily Adopted: Cera knows that she was adopted, but she loves her surrogate family dearly—even Karloff with his strange magical practices. She has an opportunity to discuss them—quite fondly, at that—in "The Dark Magician of Fraygle Coast," in which she and Osra find a family photo while Cera shows her around her home. It turns out that, aside from Karloff, her family consists of the very same Champion's Challenge team that rescued her from the cult. They had parted ways since that photo was taken, mainly because, as Cera vaguely recalls, something about Cera's upbringing demanded it. But that doesn't stop them from reciprocating her appreciation.
  • Meaningful Name: Befitting of a Yuan-Ti, Cera's full name, "Cerastes," is a direct reference to the name shared by both a serpentine creature of Greek mythology and a genus of venomous snakes.
  • Playing with Fire: While nowhere close to the degree Jet does, Cera has a good number of spells that deal fire damage, and as a Sorcerer she's able to dish them out with alarming speed in a single turn.
  • Random Effect Spell: Owing to her becoming a Warlock of Mistrief, the Goddess of Chaos, Cera's magic has a tendency to afflict random, temporary, next-day curses on whoever she casts her spells on. Her teammates are not excepted from the potential hijinks. As a Running Gag, Crafty may spontaneously announce a random assortment of such curses for Passione's members to deal with for a day. Fortunately, the effects of these curses are merely annoying at worst rather than debilitating enough to require a spell to remove them.
  • Weight Woe: Cera is quite heavy; she's not fat, but as a Yuan-Ti, her lengthy body means that she has more weight to lug around, something that she's deeply insecure about. This becomes a plot point in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1," where the party encounters a cliff that they most surmount, and Cera's weight and body shape make it awkward and difficult for her to do so. Even with a rope that can support her, she quickly starts lagging behind her teammates, who graciously speed up her ascent once they reach the top themselves. They also give Cera a Group Hug to ease her embarrassment over the situation.
Cera: I'm not fat! I'm just long!

     Ash

Ash Clemm

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1ash.png

Voiced & Played by: Blazetheweirdo
Race: Aarakocra
Class: Rogue (Assassin) (From E1-E3), Phantom Rogue/Grave Cleric (E4 onwards)

Ash used to live in a fallen village in Forrnest called Hunter's Dream, whose people formed their culture around appreciating death and forming connections with the afterlife. The caveat of these practices was the community's deep susceptibility to mental attacks. It was thus inevitable that they would attract a horde of Mindflayers, who slowly killed off almost every single member of the community—including Ash's mother, who Ash watched slowly die throughout most of her childhood. A now parentless Ash was forced to grow up extremely quickly, eventually attending Grandure Academy. From there, she would eventually join Passione to take on the Champion's Challenge, hoping to hone her skills as an assassin to better protect her loved ones.

  • Dark and Troubled Past: Ash's history isn't a pleasant one, as she grew up in the now-deserted Hunter's Dream. Because of the spiritual connections that her people had, they became extremely susceptible to Mindflayer attacks, and Ash was forced to watch her mother succumb to the effects of one such incident. She and the party revisit Hunter's Dream in "Old Flame, New Blood," during which she recounts what had happened to them and explores what remains of her home.
  • The Empath: Ash is quite observant of other's emotions, especially when they're trying to hide them. This quality is highlighted throughout "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1." Whereas her teammates are more focused on proving their worth to Qwill and protesting against his smugness, Ash is the only one of them to question Qwill about his odd behavior throughout his challenge with them. She can tell right away that he's dealing with some kind of loss, and her suspicions are proven correct in "PT. 2." Her efforts are what prompt Qwill to gift his bow to her at the end of "Disarmed and a Leg" as thanks.
  • I See Dead People: With some guidance from Mori, and being tasked with a quest by the deity the Iron Judge, Ash gains this ability as a Grave Cleric during "Old Flame, New Blood."
  • Lightning Bruiser: Ash has all the speed and offensive benefits of her rogue class in addition to being absurdly sturdy. This trait is first commented on in "The Red Trophy," when Blaze assures Scarlet that Ash's high defense renders her poisoning rather negligible.
  • Reluctant Warrior: Ash came from the peaceful Hunter's Dream, but when the people within found themselves unable to defend themselves from (or even identify) a psychic assault that drove members of the community slowly mad, she took it upon herself to protect them as an assassin.
  • Scars Are Forever: The process of becoming a Grave Cleric in "Old Flame, New Blood" leaves Ash with several puncture wounds across her entire body. However, they heal rather quickly, to the point where they're almost imperceptible, with many renders of Ash after the event omitting the wounds entirely.
  • Trauma Button: Because of her history with them back in her village, Hunter's Dream, Ash's first instinct around Mindflayers is to kill them on-sight. She has to be actively restrained from doing so to one that seems troubled and harmless in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1.'s" recap segment.
  • The Straight Man: While she still indulges in Passione's typical banter, Ash is far more mild-mannered than her partymates, being more apt to comment on their zaniness than to actively contribute to it. Whenever Qwill expresses his befuddlement with the party throughout both parts of "The Ranger Challenge," Ash likes to remind him that she's very familiar with how weird her friends are. Nevertheless, the same episodes and those to follow prove that she wouldn't have it any other way, as her exploits throughout Qwill's challenge highlight her place as a loyal scout for the team.

     Ophelia

Ophelia Rheinhessen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_ophelia.png

Voiced & Played by: Scarlet Otaku
Race: Dhampir
Class: Paladin (Oath of Redemption)/Bloodhunter (Profane Soul)

Hailing from the Armorium Citadel from a distant time, Ophelia was born into a noble family. Her memory beyond broad details of her past are hazy at best; all she knows for certain is that her loved ones met a brutal end before her very eyes. To her alarm, it was in that moment where she discovered her intense thirst for blood, and she joins the party in "Old Flame, New Blood" in hopes of finding a cure for her vampiric urges.

  • Amnesiac Hero: Ophelia's recollection of her past is spotty, with only particular moments standing out. The source of this is unclear.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Contrary to what her awkward disposition suggests, Ophelia is an effective bloodhunter with quite a sharp tongue reserved for those who annoy her most.
    • Being Passione's second bloodhunter means that Ophelia can stack her blood curses along with Calum's, allowing the two to cripple an opponent far more harshly than they would alone. Roid the Red learns this the hard way during "The Red Trophy," and he just so happens to be extremely weak to this particular tactic.
    • Fergus gets to interact with Ophelia twice in Lordpact, with each moment taking place in "Precarious Politics" and "The Dark Magician of Fraygle Coast," respectively. By this point, Ophelia has bore witness to Fergus' toxic behavior to everyone—even his own teammates. Thus, both times, her verbal retorts for his snide comments are vicious, leaving Fergus struggling to respond in kind.
  • Fallen Princess: Many years ago, Ophelia's family used to hold power that rivaled Calum's, and during that time, she lived a luxurious life. Unfortunately, it did not last; she has minimal recollection of how exactly her old life fell apart, but now, she wanders Grandure in search of a cure for her vampirism without any fortune backing her up. Passione instantly takes a liking to her in "Old Flame, New Blood," sympathizing with her plight and already requiring a new teammate now that Jet has left. As Ophelia settles in, she makes fast friends with everyone; because of the history between their families, she takes great interest in Calum, who she seeks to confide with about her concerns starting with "The Red Trophy."
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Ophelia isn't a full-blooded vampire, though she still requires blood to survive, much to her dismay. She is, however, quite friendly and soft spoken, if somewhat socially awkward; she desperately seeks a cure for her vampiric instincts so she doesn't involuntarily place anyone in danger.
  • Hero of Another Story: This journey is actually Ophelia's second attempt at taking on the Champion's Challenge. Her memories of her first attempt are hazy; all that she remembers is that she once traveled with another party, but they ended up abandoning the Challenge and going their separate ways. Ophelia first reveals this information in "Old Flame, New Blood," and it piques Osra's interest in having her in the party much further; that way, she and her friends can help Ophelia discover the fates of her original party and regain more of her memory from there. She later learns in "The Dark Magician of Fraygle Coast" that one of her old teammates, Congiorno, is still alive, and she's both eager and apprehensive about reuniting with him.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: Ophelia hesitantly indulge's Lord Damniel's plea to help him take down the Black Fang, simply due to the possibility of her vampirism being cured as a reward. But due to his secretive behavior around her, Ophelia doesn't fully trust Damniel at all; consequentially, she's not entirely invested in how he'll benefit from their deal. Ophelia thus spends much of her research time early in the campaign trying to determine Damniel's credibility.
    • When the party settles at Lordpact's Fiend Might Weep tavern in "Precarious Politics," Ophelia consults the Dawn Queen about her first meeting with Lord Damniel. The Queen confirms that he was being honest about what he's told Ophelia so far, especially his status as a former patron of hers. But even she doesn't view him as entirely trustworthy, urging Ophelia to be careful whenever she deals with him.
    • Going off of Damniel's claim of associating with the Black Fang in the past, Ophelia seeks out a book of myths covering the latter, which she begins studying in "Pact or No Pact." When Damniel appears and speaks cryptically to her once more, Ophelia lays out her feelings for him quite plainly.
Ophelia: *Sigh* ... Forgive me if I do not believe you?
Damniel: Eh, can't say I disapprove. I mean... we've got such an iiinteresting relationship, huh~?
Ophelia: [bitterly] It was not so much a relationship as it was a, hmmmm... more like being assigned partners?
Damniel: 'Eyy, you've got to start somewhere, yeah? Who knows; maybe we can be a good buddy comedy, y'know~.
Ophelia: *Sigh*... This will not be the last time that I look through this book. Perhaps if I go through it a few more times, I might find something else.
Damniel: Perhaps indeed! But, uh... I recommend trying to find something a bit more... factual. There's only so much you can glean from myths and fairytales.
Ophelia: Oh, if you happen to know of any kind of tomes that contain factual information, please, do let me know.
Damniel: I mean... Where is the biggest library in this land, eh?
Ophelia: *Sigh* ... You can leave now; I'm going to bed.
      Damniel: Very well...
[Damniel reaches out and pinches Ophelia's cheek, as if he's earned this moment.]
      Damniel: Sleep well, mon petit~.
[Ophelia instantly attempts to slap Damniel's hand away, but he's already dissipated into mist.]
Ophelia: *SIGH* ... One day. One day...!
  • Religious Vampire: Being both a bloodhunter and a Dhampir, Ophelia is quite a formidable opponent. She is also a devout follower of the Dawn Queen, whose philosophies give her some much-needed structure in her life and help her deal with her vampirism healthily. Her religious practices are first alluded to in "Fighting is the Pits," when the ghostly Lord Damniel unexpectedly visits her to make a desperate request. Due to his spiritual link to her, any blood that she ingests reforms part of his body, and he wants her to gorge until he's fully corporeal and ready to help her with her condition in return. Ophelia is hesitant to agree to the deal; even with the promise of mutual aid, the task still goes against her faith. Damniel tries playing upon Ophelia's faith to win her over, admiring the Queen's beauty and lamenting that his current form presents him from seeing her in person. His remarks seem genuine to her, but Ophelia still requests time to think over her decision.
  • Shrinking Violet: When the gang meet her in "Old Flame, New Blood" Ophelia is very timid, immediately apologizing for sleeping in a random coffin and presuming it belongs to one of the party. She later confirms that she has social anxiety when speaking with Taini, which the Loxodon is able to empathize with immediately.
  • Technical Pacifist: She doesn't like to harm others, as a result of her past trauma of her vampiric state. She is not against sparring, but it's telling that when she fought Taini her opening gambit was to attempt to use the Command spell, and when that failed an illusion to frighten her.
  • Vampire Vords: Ophelia is the Grandure-equivalent of German, and she thus speaks with a heavy accent which substitutes her W's with V's.
  • Weakened by the Light: When Osra questions whether she can survive in light in "Old Flame, New Blood," Ophelia admits that, at worst, light makes her feel mildly uncomfortable. She is otherwise not negatively affected by it.
  • Wolverine Claws: She is seen wielding a set of gauntlets that include some rather intimidating claws over her fingers. Out of character, Scarlet refers to them as Ophelia's Thorns.

     Jet

Jet Molotov

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1jet.png

Voiced & Played by: Boonslayer
Race: Fire Genasi
Class: Monk (Sun Soul)/Druid (Wildfire)

Born fatherless and without his mother's support, Jet spent most of his time growing up in Undercove on his own always felt like an outcast. However, things started looking up for him after attending a Grandure Academy battle test uninvited, dominating his opponents, and being saved from being kicked out for his troubles by Maximilio Regalius. Now, he's a Grandure Academy graduate along with his party, and he takes on the Champion's Challenge in hopes of asserting his worth as a person.

  • Barefisted Monk: Outside of his quarterstaff, Jet avoids using weaponry (as befitting his Monk class), opting instead to use his extremities or his innate fire magic in order to take on enemies. That said, his Druid class also offers him some additional options, such as the Thornwhip spell.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: After Asole's apology for his behavior to Jet before "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1," Jet develops a crush on him. He takes time to admire Asole's backside in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 2, which earns him a Dope Slap or two from Osra.
  • Magic Staff: Jet has one from his Druid class, and even uses it as a means to express his Thornwhip spell.
  • Playing with Fire: Between both his classes and his race, Jet has an abundance of options for setting things on fire. Even his very presence has a habit of setting things alight, to the point that several plant based enemies are very uncomfortable getting near enough to attack him. Even his name is two separate forms of fiery phenomena.
  • Power Tattoo: Jet opts to get a tattoo to give him the power of Ghost Step in "The Ranger Challenge PT.2". Unfortunately for him, the experience of acquiring it is not as gentle as he might have liked, though the results prove to be worth it.
  • Put on a Bus: In "Old Flame, New Blood," Jet reluctantly leaves the party to go find his father, after receiving a vision in his sleep on where to start looking. Out of universe, schedule conflicts prevented Boonslayer from continuing to play with the group.
  • Summon Magic: As per his Wildfire Druid class, Jet has the ability to summon a Wildfire Spirit, Fire In The Sky, which he calls and treats as a Stand. According to "The Ranger Challenge PT.1" recap, he first manifested this when facing the Terrible Trix Trio for the second time.

     Ranunculae

Former Passione Members

     Calum

Calum Fentris Lockheart III

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1calum.png

Voiced & Played by: Kayden Monroe
Race: Dragonborn (White)
Class: Bloodhunter (Mutant)

Calum hails from a noble family in Hemourloch, which holds astonishing influence over not just their hometown, but Grandure as a whole. Despite the opportunities presented to him, wealth and power are the furthest things from Calum's mind. He much prefers life's simple pleasures—friendship, casual parties, and attractive women—over anything deeply extravagant. This mindset unfortunately made him a bit of a slacker during his time at Grandure Academy, and now he wishes to atone for his mistakes by taking on the Champion's Challenge. Only if he succeeds will Calum feel that he's earned the respect and adoration of those from his home.

  • Cast from Hit Points: As a bloodhunter, Calum can cast curses fueled by his own blood at the cost of some health. Kayden explained that the hilts of Calum's swords both contain mechanisms that cut his hands open, streamlining the process of obtaining blood.
  • Due to the Dead: When the group passes by a row of graves in Forrnest during "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1," Calum doesn't hesitate to respectfully place a coin on each of them. In "Pt. 2," a grieving, angry Qwill calls him out on this, questioning why Calum would extend such a gesture to people that he never knew, to which Calum calmly, but firmly asserts that it is the right thing to do.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Calum suffers a string of losses that seem to weigh upon him before "The Red Trophy." The loss that utterly breaks him is when the mysterious slime creatures make off with Atlissa's titular Red Trophy, a mark of her status as a Grand Champion, despite her and Passione's best efforts. In the aftermath, Calum retreats to his room in a Volkhanom inn and takes out his frustrations on anything he can find. When Ash comes into the room and consoles him, he reveals the reason why he took this loss and the others before so hard: he just received word that his father is deeply ill, and he's afraid that his father may die unhappy with him for not living up to his expectations. He calms down after his conversation with Ash, but he's still lost most of his suave merriment—he doesn't even pass a glance at Unda when she happens to be nearby.
  • Fratbro: Back during his earliest years in Grandure Academy, Calum was a huge party animal. His hedonism impeded his education and earned him an earful from his family, which lead to him shifting his priorities by the time of the present. He sets out on the Champion's Challenge to make up for his mistakes and prove that he is worthy of the Lockheart name.
    • Calum's old habits are first mentioned in "The Red Trophy." After suffering through a string of losses, he breaks down in private, concerned that he's made no meaningful progress as a person and is still the careless partier that his family would ultimately look down upon. And his feeling are all the more severe after he received word of his father's deteriorating health. Ash is able to help him change his perspective on his concerns, but they still hang over his head.
    • In "Silent Night, Deadly Knife," Bitov is sent to kill Calum on behalf of a mysterious client, who Passione speculates might have been a family member of Calum's. This client used Calum's early years against him by presenting Bitov with a photo of Calum drunk at a party as though he were a monster. It successfully convinces Bitov to go through with the job until he sees Calum in the flesh; he then realizes that his target is a far cry from what his client made him out to be and relents, exchanging details with Calum himself just before departing.
  • Gender Bender: For his very first unintentional curse at Cera's hands, Calum turns into a woman for most of "The Ranger Challenge Pt. 1." He ends up requiring tips from Osra—a well-endowed woman herself—regarding how to make his armor more comfortable for his sudden breasts. Amusingly, Calum's already effeminate looks and how much his breastplate conceals mean that the changes are relatively slight at first glance. Most of the time, while others can tell that something is up with him, they don't know for certain until Calum outright explains what happened.
  • Hilariously Abusive Childhood: During "The Ranger Challenge PT. 2," Jet acquires a tattoo from a rather shady salesman. The process is so painful that his screaming can be heard all throughout Forrnest, and it immediately reminds Calum of his own childhood. Bizarrely for some of the other players, he seems to find it rather nostalgic.
Tattoo Artist: All right... awright, now you gonna hold still now; this is gonna hurt like a bitch.
Crafty OOC: [To Boonslayer] And uh, he starts working with the needle on your skin, and yeah, it fuckin' hurts. I need you to make a con save.
    [Boonslayer rolls the dice.]
Boonslayer OOC: Heh, heheh, heheheh, that's an eight!
Crafty OOC: Ohhhhh yeah... Um, the rest of you guys? You don't know where it's coming from, but you just hear a high-pitched yell and birds flapping in the distance.
[Blaze imitates Jet's scream and giggles.]
Kayden OOC: Calum just hears it; it's like: 'Ahhh yes. Reminds me of childhood.' And just keeps walking!
Blaze OOC: What kind of fucking childhood do you have?!
Kayden OOC: A pretty fucked up one!
  • Running Gag: Calum has a bad habit of his snout getting hit whenever he investigates something, even when it seems relatively safe to do so. Crafty comments on the frequency of this gag in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1," when a Wood Woad clobbers Calum in the face.
Crafty OOC: [regarding Calum] You never have any luck investigating things because something always seems to punch you in the face.
    Kayden OOC: [resignedly] Yeah...
  • Spoiled Sweet: Despite hailing from a wealthy family, Calum doesn't look down on his less-wealthy friends, nor does he treat Ophelia better for hailing from a royal family. His desire to please his family stems from a genuine love for them, rather than a superficial extrinsic benefit that could be expected from a person in his position. It's all part of his guiding philosophy, which he explains to Ash in "Fighting is the Pits" when she's feeling down on herself: thanks to their various skills and backgrounds, he knows that the people around him have value, and he wants to help them succeed just as they have for him.
  • Upper-Class Twit: Calum is well spoken, well dressed (to the point that it's a point of pride that he washes every day) and comes from a high class family, but otherwise, he's not terribly concerned about the luxuries that his lot in life affords him. Thus, he's comfortable letting his crude side show; not even his own teammates are free from his remarks. He spends some time in "Old Flame, New Blood" commenting on how they don't take care of their appearances compared to him. He gladly remarks "Worth it." as they smack him for it.
