Calum hails from a noble family in Hemourloch, which holds astonishing influence over not just their hometown, but Grandure as a whole. Despite the opportunities presented to him, wealth and power are the furthest things from Calum's mind. He much prefers life's simple pleasures--friendship, casual parties, and attractive women--over anything deeply extravagant. This mindset unfortunately made him a bit of a slacker during his time at Grandure Academy, and now he wishes to atone for his mistakes by taking on the Champion's Challenge. Only if he succeeds will Calum feel that he's earned the respect and adoration of those from his home.

Calum hails from
Sorcerer (Divine Soul)/Warlock (Hexblade)

Thanks to the practices of
a noble family Yuan-Ti cult, the cruel fallen god Merrshaulk was able to father a daughter, Cera. Before she could be raised for malevolent purposes, the cult was raided by a now-disbanded Champion's Challenge team, who placed her in Hemourloch, which holds astonishing the custody of Karloff Hes. Growing up, Hes informed Cera about the circumstances of her birth and the threat of Merrshaulk's influence over not just their hometown, but Grandure as a whole. Despite the opportunities presented to him, wealth and power are the furthest things from Calum's mind. He much prefers life's simple pleasures--friendship, casual parties, and attractive women--over anything deeply extravagant. This mindset unfortunately made him a bit of a slacker during his time at Grandure Academy, and now he wishes to atone for his mistakes by taking hold of her later in life. While Hes wanted Cera to hone her powers within the solitude of Fraygle Coast, Cera wanted explore her true potential without such a restriction. She thus takes on the Champion's Challenge. Only if he succeeds Challenge in hopes that she will Calum feel that he's earned the respect and adoration of those from his home.become strong enough to avoid her intended fate.

* CastFromHitPoints: As a bloodhunter, Calum can cast curses fueled by his own blood at the cost of some health. Kayden explained that the hilts of Calum's swords both contain mechanisms that cut his hands open, streamlining the process of obtaining blood.
* DueToTheDead: When the group passes by a row of graves in Forrnest during "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1," Calum doesn't hesitate to respectfully place a coin on each of them. In "Pt. 2," a grieving, angry Qwill calls him out on this, questioning why Calum would extend such a gesture to people that he never knew, to which Calum calmly, but firmly asserts that it is the right thing to do.
* DespairEventHorizon: Calum suffers a string of losses that seem to weigh upon him before "The Red Trophy." The loss that utterly breaks him is when the mysterious slime creatures make off with Atlissa's titular Red Trophy, a mark of her status as a Grand Champion, despite her and Passione's best efforts. In the aftermath, Calum retreats to his room in a Volkhanom inn and takes out his frustrations on anything he can find. When Ash comes into the room and consoles him, he reveals the reason why he took this loss and the others before so hard: he just received word that his father is deeply ill, and he's afraid that his father may die unhappy with him for not living up to his expectations. He calms down after his conversation with Ash, but he's still lost most of his suave merriment--he doesn't even pass a glance at Unda when she happens to be nearby.
* {{Fratbro}}: Back during his earliest years in Grandure Academy, Calum was a huge party animal. His hedonism impeded his education and earned him an earful from his family, which lead to him shifting his priorities by the present. He sets out on the Champion's Challenge to make up for his mistakes and prove his worth to his family.
** Calum's old habits are first mentioned in "The Red Trophy." After suffering through a string of losses, he breaks down in private, concerned that he's made no meaningful progress as a person and is still the careless partier that his family would ultimately look down upon. And his feeling are all the more severe after he received word of his father's deteriorating health. Ash is able to help him change his perspective on his concerns, but they still hang over his head.
** In "Silent Night, Deadly Knife," Bitov is sent to kill Calum on behalf of a mysterious client, who Passione speculates might have been a family member of Calum's. This client used Calum's early years against him by presenting Bitov with a photo of Calum drunk at a party as though he were a monster. It successfully convinces Bitov to go through with the job until he sees Calum in the flesh; he then realizes that his target is a far cry from what his client made him out to be and relents, exchanging details with Calum himself just before departing.
* GenderBender: For his very first unintentional curse at Cera's hands, Calum turns into a woman for most of "The Ranger Challenge Pt. 1." He ends up requiring tips from Osra--a well-endowed woman herself--regarding how to make his armor more comfortable for his sudden breasts. Amusingly, Calum's already effeminate looks and how much his breastplate conceals mean that the changes are relatively slight at first glance. Most of the time, while others can tell that something is up with him, they don't know for certain until Calum outright explains what happened.
* HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood: During "The Ranger Challenge PT. 2," Jet acquires a tattoo from a rather shady salesman. The process is so painful that his screaming can be heard all throughout Forrnest, and it immediately reminds Calum of his own childhood. Bizarrely for some of the other players, he seems to find it rather nostalgic.

'''Blaze OOC:''' What kind of fucking childhood do you have?!\\

His desire to please his family stems from a genuine love for them, rather than a superficial extrinsic benefit that could be expected from a person in his position. It's all part of his guiding philosophy, which he explains to Ash in "Fighting is the Pits" when she's feeling down on herself: thanks to their various skills and backgrounds, he knows that the people around him have value, and he wants to help them succeed just as they have for him.

Because of the spiritual connections that her people had, they became extremely susceptible to Mindflayer attacks, and Ash was forced to watch her mother succumb to the effects of one such incident. She and the party revisit Hunter's Dream in "Old Flame, New Blood," during which she recounts what had happened to them and explores what remains of her home.
* TheEmpath: Ash is quite observant of other's emotions, especially when they're trying to hide them. This quality is highlighted throughout "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1." Whereas her teammates are more focused on proving their worth to Qwill and protesting against his smugness, Ash is the only one of them to question Qwill about his odd behavior throughout his challenge with them. She can tell right away that he's dealing with some kind of loss, and her suspicions are proven correct in "PT. 2." Her efforts are what prompt Qwill to gift his bow to her at the end of "Disarmed and a Leg" as thanks.
* ISeeDeadPeople: With some guidance from Mori, and being tasked with a quest by the deity [[NamesToRunAwayFromVeryFast the Iron Judge]], Ash gains this ability as a Grave Cleric during "Old Flame, New Blood."
* LightningBruiser: Ash has all the speed and offensive benefits of her rogue class in addition to being absurdly sturdy. This trait is first commented on in "The Red Trophy," when Blaze assures Scarlet that Ash's high defense renders her poisoning rather negligible.
* ReluctantWarrior: Ash came from the peaceful Hunter's Dream, but when the people within found themselves unable to defend themselves from (or even identify) a psychic assault that drove members of the community slowly mad, she took it upon herself to protect them as an assassin.
* ScarsAreForever: The process of becoming a Grave Cleric in "Old Flame, New Blood" leaves Ash with several puncture wounds across her entire body. [[SubvertedTrope However, they heal rather quickly, to the point where they're almost imperceptible]], with many renders of Ash after the event omitting the wounds entirely.
* TraumaButton: Because of her history with them back in her village, Hunter's Dream, Ash's first instinct around Mindflayers is to kill them on-sight. She has to be actively restrained from doing so to one that seems troubled and harmless in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1.'s" recap segment.
* TheStraightMan: While she still indulges in Passione's typical banter, Ash is far more mild-mannered than her partymates, being more apt to comment on their zaniness than to actively contribute to it. Whenever Qwill expresses his befuddlement with the party throughout both parts of "The Ranger Challenge," Ash likes to remind him that she's very familiar with how weird her friends are. Nevertheless, the same episodes and those to follow prove that she wouldn't have it any other way, as her exploits throughout Qwill's challenge highlight her place as a loyal scout for the team.

!!Calum Fentris Lockheart III
[[quoteright:270:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1calum.png]]

->'''Voiced & Played by:''' Kayden Monroe
->'''Race:''' Dragonborn (White)
->'''Class:''' Bloodhunter (Mutant)

----
* CastFromHitPoints: As a bloodhunter, Calum can cast curses fueled by his own blood at the cost of some health.
His hedonism impeded his education and earned him an earful from his family, which lead to him shifting his priorities by the time of the present. He sets out on the Champion's Challenge to make up for his mistakes and prove that he is worthy of the Lockheart name.
-->'''Tattoo Artist:''' All right... awright, now you gonna hold still now; this is gonna hurt like a bitch.\\
'''Crafty OOC:''' ''[To Boonslayer]'' And uh, he starts working with the needle on your skin, and yeah, it fuckin' hurts. I need you to make a con save.\\
''[Boonslayer rolls the dice.]''\\
'''Boonslayer OOC:''' Heh, heheh, heheheh, that's an eight!\\
'''Crafty OOC:''' Ohhhhh yeah... Um, the rest of you guys? You don't know where it's coming from, but you just hear a high-pitched yell and birds flapping in the distance.\\
''[Blaze imitates Jet's scream and giggles.]''\\
'''Kayden OOC:''' Calum just hears it; it's like: 'Ahhh yes. Reminds me of childhood.' And just keeps walking!\\
'''Blaze OOC:''' What kind of fucking childhood do you have?!\\
'''Kayden OOC:''' A pretty fucked up one!
* RunningGag: Calum has a bad habit of his snout getting hit whenever he investigates something, even when it seems relatively safe to do so. Crafty comments on the frequency of this gag in "The Ranger Challenge PT. 1," when a Wood Woad clobbers Calum in the face.
-->'''Crafty OOC:''' ''[regarding Calum]'' You never have any luck investigating things because something ''always'' seems to punch you in the face.\\
'''Kayden OOC:''' ''[resignedly]'' Yeah...
* SpoiledSweet: Despite hailing from a wealthy family, Calum doesn't look down on his less-wealthy friends, nor does he treat Ophelia better for hailing from a royal family.
* UpperClassTwit: Calum is well spoken, well dressed (to the point that it's a point of pride that he washes every day) and comes from a high class family, [[DownplayedTrope but otherwise, he's not terribly concerned about the luxuries that his lot in life affords him]]. Thus, he's comfortable letting his crude side show; not even his own teammates are free from his remarks. He spends some time in "Old Flame, New Blood" commenting on how they don't take care of their appearances compared to him. [[TheGadfly He gladly remarks "Worth it." as they smack him for it.]]

Ash used to live in a fallen village in Forrnest called Hunter's Dream, whose people formed their culture around appreciating death and forming connections with the afterlife. The caveat of these practices was the community's deep susceptibility to mental attacks. It was thus inevitable that they would attract a horde of Mindflayers, who slowly killed off almost every single member of the community--including Ash's mother, who Ash watched slowly die throughout most of her childhood. A now parentless Ash was forced to grow up extremely quickly, eventually attending Grandure Academy and taking on the Champion's Challenge with Passione to hone her skills as an assassin and protect her loved ones.

Hailing from a village in Forrnest, Ash became an assassin for her home's sake. Her people are intimately familiar with all things undead, which consequentially leaves them susceptible to attacks from certain predators, the memories of which haunt her greatly. Ash thus takes on the Champion's challenge in hopes of honing her skills and becoming more capable of protecting her loved ones.
