Characters that appeared in NAITO's Canticle. This page is for the Residents of Yomi.

This page contains massive spoilers, none of which are marked. Tread carefully.

     Zozo

A demon that owns the largest communications business in all the realms. If you need to send messages between worlds, he's your guy.

  • Almighty Idiot: The original Zozo can create an entire army of himself, each loyal to their creator. The downside? The more copies he makes, the stupider they become.
  • Ditzy Secretary: You'd think having a single person with the brain capacity of a preschooler working a communications post would be a terrible idea, right? Surprisingly, the copies gets the job done.
  • Dumb, but Diligent: He's a moron, but he's also a hard-worker.
  • Easily Impressed: Thinks that Grendel killing a single human warrior is the coolest thing ever. Granted, the warrior was Beowulf, but still.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: A copy of Zozo is awe-stricken by Grendel of all people, being enraptured by his stories.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: Zozo's copies may lack brains, but make up for it in kindness to their customers.
  • Me's a Crowd: The original Zozo used his power to run his company for him, all unpaid by the way, so that he can reap the riches.
  • The Nicknamer: The Zozo copies always refer to Mura as "Mister Headband".
  • Phlebotinum-Induced Stupidity: The unfortunate side effect of his ability to create an unlimited army of clones is they all have the mental capacity of a toddler.
  • Rags to Riches: Zozo originally started out as a simple street urchin who unlocked his Tamashi Genkai through hard work. Instead of using it for battle, he decided to get rich off it and now has the largest communications company in the four realms.
  • Self-Duplication: His Tamashi Genkai "Oracle Bone" allows him to do this, splitting himself up into a seemingly unlimited amount of copies. Each copy he make causes the rest to become dumber, however.

     Old Hob

The best blacksmith in Yomi, depending on who you talk to, and the owner of Fiddler's Green.

  • Put on a Bus: He was introduced to give Mura his trademark weapon and never came back.
  • Ultimate Blacksmith: Old Hob makes the weapons for most of the Jikininki Ten, imbuing them with magical properties that compliment their fighting styles.

     Mammon

A bizarre banker for the Deepcut. Her penchant for manic and lewd behavior makes her stand-out among the other employees.

  • All Women Are Lustful: Mammon certainly fits the bill, as she's boy-crazy and struggles to keep it under wraps.
  • Cool Mask:
  • Covert Pervert: Looks at porn while at work and is a sexually-depraved woman, but still tries to keep others from being suspicious.
  • The Faceless: Her face is never actually seen, as she's always wearing her trademark mask.
  • Morally Bankrupt Banker: Averted hard. She's extremely kind-hearted and even risks her job to help her idol, Naraka.
  • Put on a Bus: She hasn't been seen since the first chapter of her original appearance.
  • Stalker with a Crush: She's a high-ranking member of Naraka's fan-club and does everything she can to win his approval, even risking her job to help him.

     "Crow"

A cool-headed convict that claims to work for the powerful demon Asmodeus. His real name is unknown.

  • All Men Are Perverts: Starts casually talking with Mura openly about what girls he's into, automatically assuming he'd be into sharing such information.
  • Might as Well Not Be in Prison at All: It's implied that since he works for Asmodeus, a powerful crime lord, he's doing just fine despite being imprisoned in DIS.
  • Play-Along Prisoner: He's completely fine with being incarcerated at the most secure prison in the four realms, due to his connections.

     Belial

The leader of a small guild of thieves and pickpockets. He serves as Mura's adoptive father.

     Grimm

A thug and bodyguard that works for Belial and grew up alongside Mura.

  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Grimm attacks Lamia following the murder of his boss, slicing her shoulder. This proves to be a fatal mistake, as Lamia's blood is a highly acidic gas when exposed to air. What follows is his body steadily melting from the inside out.
  • Dumb Muscle: He's recognized by Mura as having more brawn than brains. This ultimately proves to be true when he attempts attacking a Jikininki of all people.
  • I'm Melting!: His gory fate, falling under the "lumpy goo" variety.
  • Put on a Bus: After Mura's departure from the gang, Grimm never shows up again.
    • The Bus Came Back: Makes a reappearance along with the rest of Belial's gang. It's unfortunately short-lived.

     Dagon Jinn

A well-known actor and celebrity brought in to be the host for the Zorastarot Tournament.

  • Nice Character, Mean Actor: While most of the audience is in love with him and he has the reputation of being a hotshot celebrity, people that know him behind the scenes would beg to differ.
  • Special Guest: A celebrity host that was nominated to host the prestigious Zorastarot Tournament. His reception is a bit mixed.

     Paimon

A fierce bounty hunter and criminal who fights Mura in the Zorastarot Tournament, later returning to collect on Mura's bounty.

  • Evil Redhead: Paimon is described as having long red locks and he's a heartless bastard to boot.
  • Kick the Dog: Doesn't care about his Thrall Orobas, only that he paid a lot for the Shitidama and needs to get his money's worth. His lack of compassion for his partner results in Orobas' death.
  • It's Personal: After his defeat at Mura's hands, he wants nothing more than to kill him. Once he learns that Mura has been stripped of his powers and is currently hiding out on Earth, he eagerly sets out to collect the price on his head.
  • The Bus Came Back: He initially starts off as a simple opponent for Mura to fight against in the Zorastarot Tournament, utterly losing to the novice. After Mura's exile however, he reappears as one of the first bounty hunters to take a shot at the former Jikininki.

     Rubitrix

A wizard who fights against Mura in the Zorastarot Tournament.

  • Reduced to Dust: After he loses the match to Mura and still tries to fight, he's warned by security to stand down. After he refuses, they disarm him and disintegrate the wizard.
  • Sore Loser: He refuses to accept his defeat against Mura, prompting security to take action.

     Haagenti

A Knight Errant who fights against Behemoth in the Zoroaster Tournament.

  • Cannon Fodder: Haagenti is a pushover when compared to Behemoth, being torn in half mere minutes into the match.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: He's violently torn in half by Behemoth despite attempting to surrender.
  • Kick the Dog: Not only was Haagenti killed, but Howe the Dog (who was enthralled with him) is additionally obliterated in the process.
  • Monster Munch: Is introduced to be the opponent to Behemoth. Predictably, he's near-instantly destroyed.
  • Red Shirt: Haagenti is brought into the story only to serve as the brutal introduction to the Primal Release concept. On the receiving end of it.
