    Bee
"I brought you zucchini bread..."

Played by: Maria Bakalova
  • Ambiguous Innocence: How truthful Bee is about her past is left up to the audience to decide. Although we learn that Bee is "innocent", it's also debatable whether she's actually telling Sophie and the others the truth about her backstory. She's supposedly a college dropout who has a sick mother to tend to, but notably doesn't seek further employment when she loses her job, and immediately jumps at the opportunity to spend a weekend with her girlfriend's rich friends. Jordan's accusations of her being a Gold Digger aren't completely unwarranted.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Bee is awkward and withdrawn, and mostly ignored throughout the movie by the others when shit hits the fan, but she's responsible for attacking and killing Greg and eventually shoving Jordan off of the stairway balcony. She also demonstrates some intelligence throughout the film (at least more so than her companions, though that isn't saying much).
  • Butch Lesbian: Downplayed. Calling her butch might be a stretch, as she simply dresses more tomboyish compared to her girlfriend, Sophie.
  • Mysterious Past: Bee is seen as a cipher by Sophie's friends. She's from an unnamed country in Eastern Europe (all that's mentioned is that she's not from Moscow), and it's unclear how she met Sophie or why they started dating. This is only made worse by Jordan finding out that there was no record of her graduating from college. This last one is explained by Bee herself: she attended college for a year before dropping out to care for her mentally ill mother, and the store she worked at closed a week after she was hired. Bee was simply too ashamed to admit to Sophie that she didn't have a job.
  • Naïve Newcomer: Bee, a working-class young woman from Eastern Europe, is brought along by the wealthy Sophie to a party with her other rich, catty friends.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: She checks her reflection in Sophie's car before entering the house, and accidentally leaves the mirror open. As such, the light that goes with the mirror doesn't turn off, draining the electric car's battery and meaning it can't start to get David to the hospital.

    Sophie
"Don't worry, they're not as nihilistic as they act online."

Played by: Amandla Stenberg

  • Ambiguous Innocence:
    • Jordan claims that she and Sophie hooked up while she was dating Bee, and Sophie begs Bee not to believe her. However, when Bee asks for her phone, Sophie opts to throw it to the ground and wrestle for it. Whether she was actually cheating or was angry at the fact that Bee didn't trust her is never specified.
    • She also claims that she didn't kill Emma directly and that Emma died falling down the stairs after Sophie gives her drugs. However, Sophie is the only actual witness to this, and her saying it sooner probably would have avoided a few deaths.
  • Cuddle Bug: Sophie is incredibly physically affectionate, and loves kissing her girlfriend and hugging her friends. The first minute of the film is a single shot of her and Bee making out.
  • Hypocrite: She gets extremely angry and defensive about insisting that Bee believes her when Jordan "reveals" that she and Sophie have been hooking up. This is in spite of the fact that she didn't trust Bee enough not to think she could've killed David and allowed the others to throw her out.
  • Off the Wagon: Unfortunately, by the film's end, she's using again.
  • Recovered Addict: Before the events of the film, Sophie was away at rehab and spent a good while away from her friends in order to recover.
  • With Friends Like These...: Sophie's long absence from her friend group was primarily due to the fact that her drug usage was legitimately triggered by her friends' partying lifestyle, and, given how they act, its quite likely that the interpersonal drama between everyone was partially to blame, too.

    David
"Well, I just look like I fuck, you know what I mean? I look like I fuck. And that's the vibe I like to put out there."

Played by: Pete Davidson
  • Addled Addict: Unlike Sophie, who starts off the film a Recovered Addict, David is seen using cocaine in a lot of the scenes he's in.
  • Childhood Friends: He and Sophie are this, and she's arguably the only person he doesn't treat with much animosity. He even seems happy that she's recovering from her addiction, and she is the most disturbed by his death.
  • Domestic Abuse: Emma and David have a very tumultuous relationship where she accuses him of gaslighting her when he clearly isn't and his coke-addled rages cause him to be easily provoked.
  • Jerkass: Easily the most abrasive and least pleasant character. This is why it's so easy to believe that someone murdered him, even though his death was an accident.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: He's the first to die, and his death kickstarts the beginnings of the murder mystery.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Turns out that he is this, as he stupidly kills himself while trying to do Greg's champagne trick with the Gurka sword for a Tik Tok.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He accidentally kills himself after trying to recreate Greg's sword trick, which kicks off the main plot.

    Jordan
"Check her texts."

Played by: Myha'la Herrold
  • Butch Lesbian: She dresses in rather masculine clothes, doesn't shave her armpits, and wears no makeup for the entire film (which even Bee, the other more tomboyish girl in the cast, dons at some point). She also slept with Sophie, or so she claims.
  • Genre Savvy: Jordan, despite her flaws, is arguably one of the smartest out of the group, as she immediately gears up with a head flashlight and deduces that the culprit behind David's death must be Greg, and it seems that she's right at first. However, this gets deconstructed, as Jordan's hyper-offensive approach to what she sees as a horror movie threat only ramps up the group's paranoia.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Coupled with Disney Villain Death, Jordan lands on a scattered pile of glass bottles and broken glass, and several shards pierce through her chest.
  • Implausible Deniability: Jordan shoots Alice, and then repeatedly denies that she did. Though notably, it's implied that she's actually denying culpability for the other murders despite shooting Alice. Even so, it's funnier to infer the former.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: At first, her telling Bee to be careful seems to be her looking out for her because of Sophie's hard-partying lifestyle, but later on she quickly turns on Bee and clearly looks down on everyone at the party, and invalidates Sophie's addiction problems and Alice's podcast in one fell swoop.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • Jordan's one of the least sympathetic characters, but she's not exactly wrong when she points out that Sophie hasn't known Bee for very long, and that she may well be a Gold Digger or worse. As sympathetic as Bee is, she's shown to be much less enamored of Sophie than Sophie is of her, so she may have been right.
    • During Jordan and Sophie's argument, Jordan is right to point out that Sophie cheated on Bee with her as a way to demonstrate that Sophie is not innocent, and she's strongly hinted to be telling the truth, given Sophie's reluctance to show her texts to Bee despite claiming that Jordan is lying.
  • Rags to Riches: She tries to portray herself as this, but if there's any truth to what Alice says, her family is upper middle class (at the very least) and perfectly financially stable. It's likely that Jordan portrays herself this way due to a victim complex from comparing herself to her richer friends.
  • You Can Always Tell a Liar: Jordan's voice goes high-pitched whenever she's lying.

    Emma
"I can't believe you're making this about you!"

  • Ambiguously Bi: Emma is in a relationship with David that is tumultuous and rocky, but later kisses Sophie when she thinks she's interested in her. Given Emma's self-centeredness and craving for a relationship but not caring about the person, it's unclear exactly what Emma's sexuality is, as she could either be gay but in the closet, straight but opportunistic, or simply bisexual/pansexual.
  • In Love with Love: Sophie points out that Emma didn't actually care about David, but simply likes being in a relationship because she's insecure without one. Given that Emma later kisses Sophie only because she thought the other was interested despite both of them viciously arguing only minutes earlier seems to prove it.
  • It's All About Me: Emma's self-centered behavior is a point of tension in her relationship with David, and even when other people start dying, she talks mostly about how it affects her. Hell, when Sophie apologizes for the argument, Emma takes that as an invitation to kiss, seemingly because she thought it meant Sophie was in love with her despite being in a life-or-death situation.
  • Psychological Projection: Seems to be a common thing for her. She accuses David of gaslighting when he clearly isn't and accuses Sophie of making everything about her when she's doing the exact same thing.

    Alice
"He's a Libra moon, OK? That says a lot!"

Played by: Rachel Sennott
  • Beneath Suspicion: Alice is the only person who isn't suspected of killing David, most likely because of her status as...
  • The Ditz: Alice is a fairly absentminded person in general, and her histrionic, self-absorbed nature is Played for Laughs more often than not.
  • Motor Mouth: She talks a lot. Even after she's been shot in the leg, she won't shut up about how it feels to be shot and how pissed she is at Jordan for shooting her. The considerable amount of cocaine in her system likely exacerbates the situation, but the mere fact that she has a podcast indicates that she loves to hear herself talk.
  • Screaming Woman: When Alice discovers Emma's body, all she can do is shriek in terror for a moment.
  • Skewed Priorities: She arguably has this worse than virtually anybody else, as she often goes on long-winded tangents to prove points that hold zero relevance to anything. For example, when Bee talks about how her mom has BPD to absolve herself of Jordan and Alice's accusations, Alice takes it as a chance to talk about how mental health is important and that she suffers from body dysmorphia.

    Greg
"Oh, I get it. You're fucking with me."

Played by: Lee Pace
  • Age-Gap Romance: Greg and Alice are in a relationship together, despite the former being twenty years older than the latter. This age discrepancy is one of the many reasons he's a Red Herring.
  • Barbell Beating: He meets his maker when Bee bludgeons him with a kettle bell.
  • Dirty Old Man: Greg is not actually old, as he's only in his forties, but David certainly seems to interpret him this way. Granted, he's easily twice the age as the rest of the cast, and his romantic relationship with the naive Alice can certainly come across as squicky.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Having been asleep with a pair of earbuds in, Greg has no idea that something happened to David, and reacts with confusion when he's awakened and confronted by the rest of the group. This confusion gives way to hostility, which leads to his death.
  • Nice Guy: Manchild tendencies and spacey demeanour aside - Greg is an affable, docile and well-humoured man who stands out against the other characters who, for the most part, are spoiled, navel-gazing narcissists. This is epitomised in the slapping-game scene where David punches Greg, who proceeds to excuse himself from the room rather than escalate the altercation.
  • Red Herring: Greg is the first suspect for both the girls and the audience, given that Greg has a notably adversarial relationship with David, and is revealed to have brought a bunch of his Army gear, including knives, along to the party, as well as circling the house on a map. Not only did he not do it, but he's also the second of the cast to die. He also wasn't in the army.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Subverted. David claims he was a veteran, and we later see a storm kit in his room full of survival tools. It's later revealed that he isn't a veteran at all, but a veterinarian.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: Played by the 6'4" Lee Pace and, despite being much older than the rest of the cast, is noted by Alice to be very good-looking. David is also clearly threatened by how attractive he is.
  • Token Good Teammate: Surprisingly, despite being the first suspect for both the audience and the rest of the cast, Greg becomes this by default. While he has some animosity towards David, the encounters never escalate to anything more than verbal altercations, and even when David hits him, Greg excuses himself from the room instead of fighting back. He's also the only major character who doesn't actually threaten anyone unprovoked.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: A downplayed example. His trick with the Gurkha sword inspires David to replicate it on video.

    Max
"...what happened?"

Played by: Connor O'Malley
  • Idiot Houdini: From what little we hear about Max he sounds like he's just as big of a drug-addicted idiot as the rest of his friends. But because he had the good fortune to storm off in a huff after getting drunk and embarrassing himself Max manages to be the only one in the cast who is not murdered nor a murderer.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Poor guy has no context for why any of his friends are dead.
  • Noodle Incident: Apparently he proclaimed his love for Emma while drunk and in front of David, but David and Emma's feelings on it are not discussed in full, and by the time we actually see Max, it doesn't really matter anymore considering that the other two are already dead.
  • Out of Focus: We only know of him because other characters bring him up, but we only see him at the very end of the film. He also only gets a single line.
