A page for Hero Units introduced in Bloons Adventure Time, a spin-off of Bloons Tower Defense. For more information on the characters originating from AT, please see the relevant page in the cartoon show's page.
- Gender-Equal Ensemble: There are three male AT characters, three female AT characters, three male monkeys, and three female monkeys. If you include variants, AT characters outnumber monkeys, but there are still nine Hero Units of each gender.
- Original Generation: While technically representative of the BTD side, there's Max, Cassie, Sam, Sai the Shadow, and C4 Charlie. The only main hero taken directly from BD is Supermonkey.
Adventure Time Characters
Finn also has a DLC variant, "Dungeon Finn", in which he utilizes gear from the Dungeon Train to pop Bloons.
- Combination Attack: Two, with Jake and Princess Bubblegum.
- With Jake, Finn can get Brofist to earn lives and cash every round.
- With Peebs, Finn can use Bound By Word to increase his attack speed when a Bloon leaks.
- Heroic Second Wind: Big Hearted Hero saves you from a game over once, completely refilling your lives.
- The Power of Love: A Finn-exclusive trinket is the Pink Sweater Princess Bubblegum gave him, which allows him to No-Sell any debuff.
- Weapon of X-Slaying: MOAB-ripper massively increases the damage Finn deals to MOAB-class bloons.
Jake also has a DLC variant, "Tuxedo Jake", that cannot attack Bloons but instead powers up all allies in range, discounting their upgrades and boosting their attack speed.
- Combination Attack: Jake Suit temporarily removes Jake from the battlefield to switch out Finn's attack set with a much stronger variety of attacks, and from Finn's side he can use Bro Fist to help generate money and regain lost lives.
- Expy: Tuxedo Jake's Turn It Up upgrades and beyond are based on the Monkey Village, while his upgrades from Busker and beyond are based on the Banana Farm.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Tends to be the most likely to break the fourth wall, mentioning when he gets upgraded or referencing the Tower Defense genre in his annoy quote.
- Support Party Member: Tuxedo Jake can't attack at all outside of his Rock Out ability, unlike regular Jake. That said, he can help the player boost other units and garner mass amounts of money.
- Theme Music Power-Up: Jake's "weapons" are musical instruments that Jake plays to focus. His I'm the Musical One skill boosts the stat boosts of his equipped instrument, and Tuxedo Jake's Full Orchestra boosts the effects of other heroes' instruments, stacking with his normal self's boost.
PB also has an in-game unlockable variant, "Warrior Bubblegum", who wields a blade in battle and is focused on boosting her allies.
- Combination Attack: If Finn is using Bound By Word, Peebs can use Royal Promise to make the attack speed boost permanent without needing a Bloon to leak. Hunter Marceline can also get stronger Garlic Bombs if around Bonnie.
- The Minion Master: PB's regular form has an upgrade that allows her to deploy an extra two copies of every Ally equipped to her.
- Most of Warrior PB's upgrades involve summoning temporary allies special to her and enhancing them. She can also make buying her Allies cheaper, be able to place down one more of each, and (though costly) apply this to everyone's Allies.
Ice King uses various ice based magic to freeze Bloons in their tracks, his main spell being a freezing AOE similar to an Ice Monkey. Other spells include a Tack Tower like set of Ice Bolts and a Lightning Strike with infinite range. Upgrades increase the effectiveness of the freeze, allowing his Lightning Strike to freeze enemies, Camo detection, and increasing the amount of Ice Bolts fired. His activated ability is Monsters of Snow, summoning said monsters to the field to fight Bloons.
- Defeat Means Friendship: To unlock him, you need to complete a mission where he harasses your towers by using Freeze Lightning to slow their attack speed.
- Meta Power: Between Sam, Ice King and herself, she's the best candidate to use the Thought Cannon Wand, a wand that does not have high boosts ingame, but allows the user to obtain mass amounts of Wish Orbs, thanks to having the best speed between the three wand users.
- Expy: Normal Marceline is similar to Heli Pilot while Hunter Marceline is similar to Monkey Ace.
Monkeys
Max also has an in-game unlockable variant, "Juggernaut Max", where he upgrades to heavier artillery.
- Expy: He's a variant of the regular Dart Monkeys. His Juggernaut version is based on the Dart Monkey's Juggernaut upgrade.
- Flechette Storm: Both from his Dartnado, as well as from his two More Darts upgrades, which allow him to throw one additional dart per upgrade, but leveling Max up improves the upgrades, allowing for even more darts.
- Power-Up Letdown: His "Juggernaut Max" variant, while upgrading to a spike-ball tossing catapult, suffers from focusing on the game's Dump Stat above all else, pierce. His normal version is better for handling MOABs, which are the main threat of the game.
Cptn. Cassie works similarly to a Monkey Buccaneer, but with a few additional surprises to fight the Bloons with, such as her main cannon firing explosives instead of darts. In addition to the Grape Shot, Long Barrel, Crow's Nest and MOAB Takedown the Buccaneer has, she can increase the blast radius of her shots and lob explosive barrels onto the track. Her crew also plays a part in her strategy, with Cassie being able to share Crow's Nest's effect with them, increasing the amount of allies she can place, earning more cash when Cassie or her crew pop a bloon, and having them assist her in MOAB Takedown.
Cassie also has an in-game unlockable variant, "Commander Cassie", where she upgrades her boat to a battleship.
- Combination Attack: Princess Bubblegum can help Cassie use the Privateer upgrade to increase the attack speed of her and her crew, as well as make the pirates and their upgrades cheaper.
- Cool Boat: Cassie, whether she be a pirate captain or a fleet commander, will always be aboard a ship when fighting the bloons. Naturally, barring certain trinkets (or Martian magic grounding her ship), this means she needs to be placed on or under water to be of use.
- Expy: She's a variant of the Monkey Buccaneer. She borrows from the Aircraft Carrier with Commander Cassie, but otherwise she mostly borrows from the Monkey Submarine.
- Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: At times, she accidentally drops her pirate-y matter of speaking, but quickly corrects herself. Examples:Captain Cassie (When Tapped): Yes? I mean, Yarr?Captain Cassie (When Upgraded): Yippee! I mean, YARR!
- Aloof Ally: In-story, Sai doesn't hang with Finn and company, disappearing shortly after her rescue from Lemongrab. Max does assure that she'll be around whenever there are bloons attacking, which explains why she's in your party.
- Expy: She's a variant of the Ninja Monkey.
- Spikes of Doom: Sai's Tetsubushi upgrade allows her to plant caltrops on the track. These disappear at the end of every wave, however.
- The Voiceless: Never says a single word to anybody. Someone else may chime in when placing her or using Sabotage Supply Lines, but the only sound players will hear from her is deep breaths when they bother her.
- Beam Spam: Her basic attack.
- Combination Attack: Sam can copy the element of either Ice King or Flame Princess and attack with it using her Student of Ice/Fire upgrade.
- Expy: She's a variant of the Wizard Monkey.
- Forced Transformation: She can morph bloons into harmless bloon animals. She will also threaten to turn the player into a frog if tapped on too many times.
- Expy: His upgrades are based on the Mortar Monkeys from the main series, although his preference for staying close to the Bloons and throwing bombs as opposed to firing them from a cannon make him similar to the Bomb Cannon.
- Mad Bomber: He's completely fascinated by all things that go boom.
- Adaptational Wimp: He requires upgrades to attain his iconic attack speed, and he also needs to upgrade his speed alongside his eye-rays to unlock Sun Avatar. He also lacks his Robo-Monkey and Technological Terror upgrades, and cannot become the Temple of the Sun God, instead temporarily transforming into the Sun God himself. Mind you, he's still the most powerful unit in the entire game by an almost incomprehensible level.
- Awesome Ego: Supermonkey can be a bit full of himself, but he certainly has what it takes to pop every Bloon in his range.(when a MOAB-Class bloon appears) "Someone take a picture when I pop this guy! And make sure you get my good side!"
- Beam Spam: Can attack Bloons with his Eye Beams.
- Expy: He can transform into the Dark Sun God with a certain trinket. This form is this to the Dark Sun Temple in the main games.
- Eye Beams: Supermonkey has these, but you have to upgrade to them first. In the meantime, he will toss darts at breakneck speed.
- Golden Super Mode: Supermonkey's Sun God form, which is only unlockable on Star Level 7 and consumes 4 Super Fans.
- Heavy Sleeper: His recruitment mission involves waking him up via fighting Bloons across three stages at Extreme difficulty.
- Narcissist: Definitely. When Max and his friends find him, his first reaction is to look into the mirror and comment on how he is bulkier than Max. He even happily says that the player is free to ask him for an autograph when tapped too many times!
- Purposefully Overpowered: He's incredibly strong, but also the most-expensive hero unit in the game, and his upgrades make him cost even more. But he's powerful enough to justify it, particularly if you can unlock his Sun God upgrade.
