     A
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f2mxshtv.png
A's shtick is that she's accident-prone (generally clumsy and has a band-aid on her) and that apples fall on her head (prompting her to exclaim in a manner similar to her sound). She's also the lead singer in Band.
  • Amnesia Episode: In one episode, she forgets her name and can only remember it when she's with Y, I, or E.
  • Butt-Monkey: She falls over, always wears a band-aid, and has apples falling on her head.
  • Hiccup Hijinks: In "Name", A gets the hiccups and can't say her own name.
  • The Klutz: She's often falling over, tripping, etc.
  • Plot Allergy: She's allergic to cats.

     B
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b_bass_guitar.jpg
The bassist in Band, B is always seen playing a bass and scatting her sound.

     C
C notably has a superpower besides "you-know-what": she has the power to crack things, which she likes to show off (possibly the reason for her always having a crack in her "letter cage"). She also has a rivalry with her brother K because they make the same sound.
  • Action Girl: She has powerful stamina, superpowers, and an outfit that looks like an athlete's.

     D
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d_6.png
The drummer in Band and Din, and a rocker like his sister B.

     E
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ekko.jpg
The "busiest letter" because he's the most common one. Is quite loud and has a megaphone, also wears a ninja suit when silent and a magician's hat when changing a word to another. A common plot point is his ability to change letter sounds into their names (e.g. "tap" to "tape").
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: While being silent, he wears a ninja suit but doesn't otherwise act stealthy.
  • "I Am" Song: He has two:
    • In one song, he sings about being the busiest letter.
    • In the other song, he sings about his power to change letter sounds into their names.
  • Large Ham: Tends to shout through a megaphone.

     F
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fjpg.jpg
An astronaut who wears a space suit all the time and can fly. Also likes to hang out with U and N because they spell fun.
  • Flight: She can fly by blowing.

     G
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/g_32.jpg
G is commonly-seen either gardening or gulping down water to hydrate both herself and the grass that grows on her head like hair.

     H
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/h_3.jpg
A very athletic Alphablock, H is commonly seen exercising.

     I
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/i_7.jpg
I is quite vain, bragging about how important and interesting she is and looking in the mirror all the time. She's also somewhat of a know-it-all, boasting about her intelligence, and likes to sing in a crooning sort of way. She's also the singer in Din.
  • Character Catchphrase: "I know!"
  • Hidden Depths: Seems like a stereotypical vain, prissy woman, but she may also be somewhat of a rocker if her being the singer in Din is anything to go by.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's arrogant, but is still on good terms with everyone.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Brags about being "intelligent" and often claims she knows, but she hardly ever has the knowledge she claims to and, while not dumb, isn't any smarter than the others.
  • Large Ham: Shouts a lot, boasts a lot, and tends to sing her sound instead of saying it while spelling.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Although the word “bitch” wouldn’t actually be used, she is definitely this trope. Also a bit of an exaggeration in that she doesn’t seem very bitchy to the other Alphablocks at all; see Jerk with a Heart of Gold above.

     J
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jimage.png
A rather loony individual who thinks she's a blue jay. She keeps trying to fly and sing but can do neither very well.
  • Character Catchphrase: "I'm a jolly jaybird!", "I can fly!", and "Jumping jellyblocks!"
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: She thinks she's a bird.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: She absolutely cannot sing (at least, not the way she usually does by making her sound. She can sing songs with actual lyrics just fine.)

     K
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/k_8.png
Another athletic character, K likes playing soccer and seeing how long he can keep his ball in the air. He sometimes argues with his sister C over sharing a sound.

     L
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/l_29.png
L, similarly to A and I, also likes to sing, though she specialises in lullabies.

     M
Seeing as people say, "Mmm" when they're hungry, and that "munch" begins with M, M's shtick is that he's always hungry— and he doesn't limit himself to food items.

     N
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/n_6.png
N is very negative, just for the heck of it, so much so that he sometimes says no even when he actually agrees. Also the guitarist in both Band and Din.
  • Aesop Amnesia: In "Little Red N", N learns to say 'yes' sometimes, and to not be so negative. However, by the next episode, he goes back to saying 'no' to everything.
  • By "No", I Mean "Yes": N does not like saying 'yes', so he says 'no' in a lot of situations where he clearly means 'yes'.
  • Character Catchphrase: Says, "No!" a lot.
  • Not So Above It All: Usually acts like a grumpy sourpuss, but when he's with F and U (spelling out fun) he goofs off.
  • Scatting: Like B and D, he sings his sound while playing music, in his case his clear guitar.

     O
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/o_0_4.png
O is notable for only being able to make his sounds.

     P
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/p_5.png
P's main thing is that she can teleport.

     Q
Because Q can barely spell anything without U, he finds her a bit annoying, but she's actually very sweet. She doesn't say much.

     R
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/r_9.png
A stereotypical pirate.
  • Character Catchphrase: “Rrrrrrrrrrrrrr!”
  • Dressed to Plunder: She wears a pirate hat and eye patch.
  • Eyepatch of Power: She seems to be able to see perfectly fine despite her eye patch.
  • Friendly Pirate: R is a pirate who is very good friends with the other Alphablocks and sometimes even helps them. She's not seen doing pirate things usually, but in one episode, she does dig up buried treasure.
  • Pirate: Acts like a stereotypical pirate and is occasionally seen searching for buried treasure.
  • Shown Their Work: R has two eyes, just like real life pirates whose eyepatches were used to see in the dark.
  • Taking It Well: In the Halloween special, when her pirate getup is mistaken as a costume, she just says “Rrr, costume? I didn’t realize it was a costume party!”
  • Talk Like a Pirate: Says, "Rrr" and addresses her friends as "shipmates".
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She is the tomboy to I’s girly girl.

     S
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s_06.jpg
A flying alphablock who resembles a beach ball.
  • Flight: If she puffs herself up enough, she can fly.

     T
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ab_t.png
T is often tutting or drinking tea.
  • Birthday Episode: He had his birthday in the episode where they fall into a trap (though we never found out how old he was).
  • Brits Love Tea: He drinks lots of tea and he, like everyone on this show, sounds British.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Anyone for tea?", "Total tomfoolery!", and "Time for you-know-what!"
  • Hammerspace: T often pulls out a teapot and teacups from behind his back, though the teapot doesn't always have tea in it. E does the same with his megaphone, and I with her mirror.
  • Quintessential British Gentleman: T has a bowler hat, monocle and moustache, and likes to drink tea.

     U
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/u_0_1.png
U is a bit of a complainer, complaining about Q bugging him among other things.

     V
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/v_7.jpg
V likes to run around (because he's very fast) and pretend to be a car.

     W
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/w_1.png
W cries a lot. He also has water in his "letter cage".

     X
A superhero who calls himself the Exciting X, who often appears out of nowhere to solve problems. He lives underground.

     Y
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_8_975.jpeg
Y is the youngest alphablock (although we still don't know how old he is) and unlike the others, doesn't say his sound a lot: he instead asks "Why?" a lot. The fact that he's both a consonant and a vowel is occasionally a plot point.

     Z
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/z_8.png
The eldest, who acts militant but also falls asleep a lot.
  • Baby Of The Bunch: Inverted. Z is the only character explicitly referred to as old by his profile, and he has what looks like a veteran badge.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Alphablocks! Attention!"
  • Catching Some Z's: Whenever Z falls asleep, little Zs float out of his mouth. In "Zap", he zaps all of his Zs and has to get them back.
  • Noodle Incident: We don't know how he won that medal he's always wearing. However, given his age it’s possibly a World War II veteran badge.
  • Senior Sleep-Cycle: He's old and he tends to fall asleep.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Implied. He’s afraid of word magic, possibly suggesting it was used against him in the war.
  • Vague Age: He's old. Not specified how old.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: As seen in “Dots,” he is afraid of word magic.
