In General:

  • Advertised Extra: The boys were announced alongside most of the main cast in the beginning of the show, but ultimately they didn't amount to much in the actual series. Season 2 demotes them even harder than they already did, to the point where they only make a few appearances the whole season before flying out of the country.

    Subaru Yūki
Voiced by: Taku Yashiro
  • Ascended Fanboy: According to side materials, the reason why he became an idol in the first place was that he was inspired by the current headmaster Moroboshi during his idol years.
  • Beneath the Mask: Underneath his cool leader persona, he's actually quite shy and easy to tease.
  • Butt-Monkey: Despite being their leader, he is one for the other boys because of his shyness, and his severe insecurity about his feelings for Yume only made it worse.
  • Demoted to Extra: Despite getting more focus than the rest of the band in season 1, his screentime, as well as his interactions with Yume in general, has significantly decreased in the next season.
  • Everyone Can See It: Heavily downplayed, as the rest of M4 are the only characters who noticed his crush on Yume, and at times they tease him for it.
  • Love Interest: To Ako, which is one-sided on her part, and gets a helping of Ship Tease with Yume otherwise in season 1.
  • Satellite Love Interest: He’s somewhat a one to Yume, while he got few scenes without her involvement, the majority of his screentime (particularly in season 1) revolves around her in one way or another.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: He got more screentime than the rest of the band in season 1. it’s subverted in the following season, however, as his presence is more or less the same as the other boys’.
  • Troll: Loves messing with Yume whenever he gets the chance, although it fades away as the show goes on.
  • Workaholic: He takes his work way too seriously compared to how the other three do with theirs.

    Asahi Kasumi
Voiced by: Shun Horie
  • Animal Motifs: Compared to a Big Friendly Dog in terms of personality.
  • Family Theme Naming: Like his sisters, Asahi is named after a part of the sky in the daily cycle. In particular, he's named after the morning sun.
  • Heroic Lineage: He's the brother of both Yozora and Mahiru. The reason why he got into idolhood and into Four Star is precisely because of this trope; he found it natural to do after Yozora stepped in to do it.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Asahi has a huge crush on Koharu, but she doesn’t seem to return his feelings.
  • Keet
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: He used to be put in girl's clothing when he was little by Yozora. Going by the picture we see in Episode 75, he didn't take it too terribly.

    Kanata Kira
Voiced by: Arthur Lounsbery
  • Alliterative Name: His first and last name start with the letter K.
  • Brutal Honesty: Kanata isn't exactly afraid to speak his mind and give criticisms when prompted.
  • The Gadfly: The MENKATSU CD character description pegs him as a "Do-S" type, but it really goes no further than teasing.
  • Satellite Character: All of his screentime has him hanging out either with the group or at least one of its members (usually Subaru), or with Ako.
  • Ship Tease: With Ako. He's pretty stubborn about his feelings as well, given they both have a mutual "?<3" on their part of the relationship chart.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Never seen without with white-frame glasses, and is a very calculating person. He, as mentioned in side materials, chose to go into Four Star Academy because he wanted to measure his own abilities after all.
  • Troll: More of the Deadpan Snarker variety, but he sure knows how to push Ako's buttons.
  • Unresolved Sexual Tension: Again, with Ako.

    Nozomu Igarashi
Voiced by: Yūto Uemura
  • Flat Character: Of all the M4, he's the least elaborated on and characterized.
  • Princely Young Man: Both his onstage and his offstage personality reflects this.
  • Romantic False Lead: To Yume in episode 13, although it was completely ignored afterward.
  • Satellite Character: Rarely seen without the rest of the group or one of its members.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Originally had this with Yume in episode 13 after landing the role opposite of hers in a film.
    • He also had a major case of it with Aria in episodes 79 and 87. However, just like Yume above, they never interacted again afterward.
  • Unknown Character: Not him, but his sister who, according to side materials, applied him to Four Star Academy, she was never seen or even mentioned in the actual show.
