Main Characters

    Desir Arman
Voiced by: Takuma Terashima (Japanese), Austin Tindle (English)
The main character of the piece, Desir spent a decade fighting for his life in the final Shadow World before he was sent back in time. Now, possessed of the knowledge of his past life, he means to avert the tragedies of his present future by making sure the world is sufficiently-trained to take it on.

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: A bit of a character tic! He'll do this to Romantica and Pram, at least. It's probably some manner of survival instinct that keeps him from doing it to Ajest, at least at first.
  • Anti-Magic: His chief ability is to analyze and subvert the spells of others, which he even uses in the prologue to seal an elder dragon.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: This is what lets Desir break others' spells with (typically) only a moment's thought, but it also allows him to figure out a number of other esoteric magical effects.
  • Weak, but Skilled: While Desir's mana pool is comparatively small next to virtually every other character in the series, he uses what he has to great effect, displaying a knowledge of every element as well as a surprising list of buffs — and he's no slouch in the swordsman department either.

    Romantica Eru
Voiced by: Sayumi Suzushiro (Japanese), Sarah Roach (English)
A young lady from a merchant family turned sort-of nobility, she initially tries to join a high-ranked party before becoming the second member of Desir's group.

    Pram Schneider
Voiced by: Natsumi Fujiwara (Japanese), Macy Anne Johnson (English)
The son of a commoner and an unseen nobleman, Pram is a fencer par excellence who chiefly uses a rapier — and joined the Academy in order to find some clues to who his sire is, or was. He becomes the third member of Desir's party after losing a fight to a nobleman, once Desir steps in to take a hit.

  • The Cutie: His looks are... generally 'cute'. During a training exercise, his instructor even asks if he's really a boy, and Desir is happy to give him all the headpats he can eat.
  • Cutting Through Energy: Pram's sword allows him to do this, and it's practically a signature move.
  • The Ingenue: Pram isn't stupid, but his innocence dovetails with his youthful looks.
  • The Speedster: As a rapier-wielder, a great part of his schtick depends on this. He uses the occasional Flash Step in combat, too.
    Ajest Jedgar F. Roguepalace
A Magic Knight whose initial faction is the Blue Moon Party: after Desir and the others become Single Rankers, she decides to join them instead.

  • An Ice Person: She primarily has ice as her element, and even summons up a throne and chamber thereof for her most powerful spell.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: It's only when Desir beats her — by a hair! — that she realizes that what she's looking for is a good challenge and an actual alliance.
  • Defector from Decadence: At the party for the Blue Moon Group, she informs its leader that not only doesn't she want the trappings of nobility anymore, she doesn't want the obligations of being in that group.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Amusingly, she warms up quite rapidly to Desir and the others once they start showing her genuine friendship.
