Awesome / Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Go To

For the first game, go here.

  • Alex and Ash, the twins from the Fans. Unlike other characters, you have to control two at the same time. It's hard, but quite rewarding.
  • "Dead Ahead", the 11th scene and the second scene with Manny Pardo. It is by far the longest level in the game, and by far one of the toughest ones, but it basically has Manny singlehandedly killing his way through an entire ship full of Colombian Cartel in a manner to do an Action Hero proud. Before then brushing off his fellow officers yelling at him for his reckless actions and not waiting for backup with a "go complain to the chief" in classic Cowboy Cop style. This is especially badass if you managed to pull off a Full Combo (see below).
  • "Death Wish", the 12th scene. Here, you play as each Fan floor by floor as they storm a building filled with Russians.
  • While all of the Son’s levels involve him spectacularly kicking ass and taking names, “Blood Money” takes the cake for badassery. As the Son and his goons waltz into the bank, they put on their masks, grab their guns, and proceed to pull off a bank heist that would do the Payday Gang proud. Bonus points for this level sealing off the Son’s skills, forcing you to go at it like a Badass Normal. Although the awesomeness factor is slightly diminished when one of the goons dies and the Son is confronted with a vision of his dead family and Richard.
  • The Son confronting The Colombian in Act 6, Scene 24. After making his way through his mansion and massacring his mooks, he confronts the boss, along with his bodyguards. The boss remarks that The Son is a fool for coming in alone. After some brief banter, The Son gives the boss 10 seconds to surrender, which the boss scoffs at. What he doesn't see coming is a group of The Son's men making their way into position, ready to shoot. Then the 10 seconds are up. Cue Total Party Kill.
  • Later on in The Son's arc, he fights and slaughters each of The Fans (except for Tony, who survives his encounter only to be shot dead by Pardo later). Sure, it's Evil Versus Evil, but he does defeat 3 one-man armies one after the other before taking on the last two (Alex and Ash) simultaneously. Made all the more awesome in that he's tripping balls throughout the entire sequence and hallucinates The Fans as monstrous versions of their animal masks. Plus, during the Alex and Ash fight, he essentially duels Alex's chainsaw with a fireaxe. He may be a violent, drug-addicted psycho, but The Son is a major badass.
  • The Soldier's last level, "Casualties". Even though it's definitely one of the more difficult sections of the game, the atmosphere, buildup, and stage track give the feeling of overcoming hardship after a long and arduous journey. The Way Home, indeed.
  • Evan managing to kick ass through his levels without killing. Well, if you choose to play that way...
  • At the end of Act 5 Richter manages to survive a Prison Riot that is seemingly manufactured specifically just to kill him, as well as decimating his way through the prison guards and the prisoners. Badass Normal indeed.
  • Evan's first level, where he fights his way through a nightclub full of the Russia Mafia merely to ask Petrov some questions.
    • It becomes even better if you head straight to Petrov on the last floor, as all the enemies that he hasn't knocked out will arrive behind him and point their guns at his back. He doesn't seem to care.
  • Evan's bonus level, The Abyss. Upon entering the abandoned Fifty Blessings HQ, there are no enemies anywhere and creepy ambiance plays until Evan reaches the very back of the building. After having a cryptic conversation with a group of squatters wearing animal masks, Evan has to fight his way back to the entrance through a gang of junkies. This latter segment happens with the tracked titled "Abyss" playing, all for the effect of making the combat segment very tense and dramatic.
  • The beginning of Execution. There's no intro, only a brief cutscene of the Henchman trying to call his girlfriend, and then the fans' van drifts outside and you're thrown straight into action... Bonus points if you then play the level perfectly.
  • Corey's skill doesn't seem quite as awesome when compared to the other fans'. Tony can kill with his punches, Mark has a pair of machine guns, Alex wields a chainsaw... all Corey can do is roll. Well, but under certain circumstances, the results can be spectacular — here Corey manages to roll her way unscathed through a veritable shower of gunfire.
  • Any time you manage to Full Combo an entire level. This means keeping up a full uninterrupted killchain through multiple floors in a single level, and leaving no one standing. This is especially awesome on longer and harder levels such as the aforementioned Dead Ahead, which you can get up to a 90x combo on, or 95x if you're on Hard Mode.
  • Just finishing Hard Mode will make you feel awesome.
  • Similarly, there's nothing more satisfying than managing to dodge your opponents' every shot in close range without any skills. Screw your revolver, prison guard #13, Richter doesn't have time to get shot!
