* CompleteMonster: [[DarkActionGirl Roxanne of Love and Hate]], a former "Number One" of the Organization, differs from the majority of other villains in the series by being an outright cruel and violent {{sadist}}. Initially a low ranking warrior, Roxanne rose up the ranks by [[ManipulativeBastard seducing/befriending]] and eventually murdering stronger warriors after stealing their techniques. Eventually, she set her sights on the existing Number One Cassandra, but when she saw Cassandra's technique, she decided it was unsightly and gave Cassandra the hated moniker "Dust-Eater." She later set up Cassandra's only friend to die a torturous death at the hands of a Awakened Being and mocked Cassandra by saying that her friend had looked as if she had "enjoyed" being played with by the monster, so interfering wouldn't have been right. Cassandra snapped and attacked her. Roxanne used the other 45 warriors as [[HumanShield shields]], relishing in their fear of Cassandra and cackling at how hideous Cassandra's abilities were. When Cassandra finally reached Roxanne, Roxanne gleefully impaled her head with the pommel of her sword, a technique stolen from her first victim.

** I think the whole point was Teresa starting to show emotions and acting upon them, and them leading to her death. First she showed sadness to Clare, then wrath towards the bandits, and finally mercy against Priscilla. While living with emotions made her life alot shorter, it also made it alot happier.

* CounterpartComparison: Clare is considered by many to be a gender-flipped of Guts, the main protagonist of the {{seinen}} ''{{Manga/Berserk}}'', where ''Claymore'' is pretty much [[JustForFun/XMeetsY a more shonen version of the former]]. Not only are their [[DarkAndTroubledPast backstories]], [[{{BFS}} arsenal]], [[{{Revenge}} goals]], and [[AntiHero personalities]] alike (hey! They're even [[BadassTransplant using an arm that isn't theirs!]]), just look at how similar their arch nemeses are! Anyone care for a [[NighInvulnerability nigh invulnerable]], [[WingedHumanoid winged]] (or [[CapeWings wing-caped]]), HumanoidAbomination who made an [[FallenHero epic fall from grace]] as their BigBad?

* TheScrappy: Priscilla. [[spoiler: Her incredible power keeps being wanked and wanked, [[OnlyTheAuthorCanSaveThemNow there's no feasible way for her to be defeated]], she keeps [[SpotlightStealingSquad stealing the spotlight]] and finally betrays Raki despite everything, admitting she never cared about him nor Isley, and leaves him to be taken by the Organization. It also doesn't help at all that she killed Teresa.]]

* JumpingTheShark: A lot of fans have put their hands up and walked away from the series at some point during the final battle against Priscilla. She kills interesting and likeable characters ([[WeHardlyKnewYe often soon after they're introduced and before they have the chance to be fleshed out]]), and she's so damn unkillable that it'll take an AssPull to finish her off.
** Perhaps an AssPull won't be needed after all, [[spoiler:as Teresa coming back was hinted at earlier in the story -- her presence inside of Clare was implied even as far back as Clare's first meeting with Miria, when Miria told Clare that Clare's rank bothered her because it had felt as if "the strongest was standing before [her]". Turns out that in a sense, it was true.]]

* FreudWasRight:
** Dauf stabs ladies in the stomach with giant poles he makes out of his body. [[{{Squick}} Classy.]]
** In Luciela's Awakened form, her whole body is covered in [[VaginaDentata mouths]].

** [[spoiler: With the revelation that Yoma are actually {{Body Surf}}ing parasites instead of monsters disguising themselves as their victims, yes.]]

** WoobieSpecies: All the Claymores were orphans who were unwillingly put through painful and life threatening surgery so that they could fight man-eating monsters. Even the strongest ones don't get to live very long.
*** We get mention of "failed warriors making it into the ranks", like Clarice. The only shock other Claymores display is that they "let one in," not that a "failed" warrior existed, which raises the question of just how many "failed" warriors never make it past training, and what happens to them...
*** A bonus chapter reveals that a final test for each batch of Claymores involves a life-or-death situation, and only the ones who live pass the test. So at least we know what happens to those who fail the final test, but still no insight to the rest of the TrainingFromHell...

* CrackPairing: For some reason, Shippers have taken a sudden liking to pairing Galatea and Miria. Even though they've [[{{ShipsThatPassInTheNight}} barely spoken to each other in the manga and never in the anime.]]

** In Luciela's Awakened form, her whole body is covered in [[VaginaDentata mouths.]]

* GodModeSue: Priscilla. [[spoiler: She's so incredibly powerful that no one can beat her, that even a piece of her arm is enough to possess Abyssal level Awakened Beings, and she hasn't lost a. Single. Battle.]] Gets quite annoying how the goal Clare had set for herself is unattainable with these odds.
** Lets make it clear: she's making ''[[Manga/{{Naruto}} Madara fucking Uchiha]]'' have a harder time against opponents than Priscilla does. Priscilla even survives ''being cut up into tiny chunks''! To clarify: [[spoiler:while pretty much all of the characters have been sliced and diced in some way at one point or another, Priscilla's ''head'' is also sliced into tiny chunks. And somehow she manages to get to Cassandra's corpse, at least a good hundred feet or more away, and start chowing down. Despite having been in bite-sized pieces.]] [[FlatWhat What]].
*** [[spoiler:And she has NOTHING on Teresa, who is taking easy defeating her and gives Priscilla plenty of room for more power ups instead of killing her on the spot, because no matter what Priscilla does, Teresa is shown to be superior to her.]]

The only person who didn't loathe or fear her, [[spoiler:the nameless #35, was killed in a disgusting, brutal, and completely senseless manner due to a certain ManipulativeBitch's machinations]]. ''Then'', she was bloodily executed by her fellow Claymores. And on top of that, she was resurrected, brainwashed, sicked on her fellow warriors, and [[spoiler:eventually awakened, tricked to fight Priscilla--only to be devoured by her just as the Ghosts seemed to have offed her for good]].

** Isley's a bit more of a [[CoolHorse literal example,]] but his cool looks (both Awakened and not), awesome fighting style, and overall good treatment of Raki won him quite a lot of fans.
** [[AffablyEvil Riful]] and [[DumbMuscle Dauf's]] [[AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther interesting relationship]] and strength made them a LoveToHate due to fans.
* FoeYay: EPIC amounts of it between Cassandra and Roxanne. Also, Clare and Ophelia, though mostly from Ophelia's side

* TheWoobie: By this point, it is easier to count the characters who are ''not'' Woobies on hand. The men of the organization, [[RapePillageAndBurn bandits]], Roxanne, and most male Awakened. Everyone else needs a hug, a glass of milk and a plate of cookies.

She then impales Cassandra's head with the sharp pommel of her sword. The Awakened Being killed Cassandra's friend very, very slowly, and it's implied it raped her. Roxanne cheerily says she looked like she was enjoying herself, so interfering wouldn't be right.]]
