* OverprotectiveDad: Understandably so, considering his daughter is dating a werewolf. Though pulling the kid bodily out of a car and sticking a gun in his face might have been a bit over the line.

* BroughtDownToNormal: After using up all her Tails during the events of season 3. [[spoiler: When she reappears post Season-3, it's confirmed she's lost her healing abilities and strength.]]

* WeaponOfChoice: Her special katana which could neutralize the Nogitsune, it becomes a WreckedWeapon after she defeats the Nogitsune the first time. Decades later, the main characters put it back together and she passes it to Kira.
** Noshiko's nine Kitsune Tails were represented as daggers called Kaiken which serve as her PowerSource. After she sacrifices eight of them to summon Oni as well as lead them, and the ninth is used by the Nogitsune to usurp control of the Oni from her, this leads to her BroughtDownToNormal above.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: In Seasons 1 and 2, toward his father and sister's KillEmAll attitude regarding wolves. It eventually reaches it's peak when he and Scott team up to stop Gerard.

* GoodParents: She and Ken are this to Kira. The fact that Kira presently has the only set of parents who are aware of and active in the supernatural world takes this UpToEleven.

* {{Kitsune}}: She is one, although it is unknown what type.

* BeingEvilSucks: Granted, he does not see himself as evil but the whole [[TheHunter hunter]] thing virtually destroys his family.

* TheHunter: One member of a long line of people who have sworn to protect humans from werewolves, going back to the Beast of Gevaudan.

* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice[=/=]PinnedToTheWall: This happens to him in Season 4 courtesy of [[spoiler:Peter]], whom he tracked down in the sewers (and yes, all the [[FreudWasRight Usual Implications]] are in full effect, especially since [[spoiler:Peter]] leans his forehead against Argent's at the, erm, climax.). Fortunately, he gets saved by [[spoiler:Parrish]], who was also tracking [[spoiler:Peter]].

* TheObiWan[=/=]TheMentor: Noshiko teaches Kira what it means to be a Kitsune, showing her how to utilize her recently awoken powers. Also, during a TeamMom moment with Melissa in Season 4, when Melissa wonders if it's right to let their [[KidHero kids]] face all these dangers, she mildly observes that the only other way would be having them run for the rest of their lives.

* WhatTheHellDad: Is given one by his ex-wife Natalie by accusing him of forcing Lydia to choose which parent she'd rather live with.

Several tropes apply to all werewolf characters, or all werewolves of a specific status, due to [[MagicAIsMagicA unified rules for how werewolves work]]. Don't list these tropes on the werewolf characters themselves unless there is a noteworthy example of how that character doesn't act quite like the rest or has the trope used in a particularly interesting way.

* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Played with. Werewolves are in some ways quite different from humans: they live in packs with specific hierarchies and structures, they spend part of their lives as a human-monster hybrid or a full animal, and their physical abilities and health are way beyond those of average humans. As a consequence, a lot of their interactions come off as very rough and overly violent to humans and bitten werewolves unfamiliar with werewolf norms. Is made a point of characterization for several characters, especially Derek.
* TheChosenOne: Becoming an Alpha usually works in two ways: inheriting an Alpha's power when they die, and [[KlingonPromotion plain murder]]. However, there is also a third, extremely rare option: turning into an Alpha purely by power of character. This is called a True Alpha, and [[{{Protagonist}} unsurprisingly]], Scott [=McCall=] is one.
* CurseThatCures: One of the perks of getting transformed into a werewolf is the healing factor taking care of injuries and diseases: Scott loses his asthma, Erica no longer experiences seizures, and Liam heals a broken leg. This seems to work for physical ailments only.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: With very few exceptions, werewolf characters will have to make use of their healing powers - they'll be attacked by other supernatural beings or hunters, get electrified, shot at, poisoned, set on fire, stabbed, bitten, clawed, and even get their limbs cut off. Beacon Hills is a dangerous place to be a monster.
* HealingFactor: All werewolves heal quite quickly, though various, usually supernatural means - from an Alpha's claws, to demonic swords to various species of wolfsbane/aconite - can make the process more complicated.
* HealingHands: Werewolves can absorb physical pain from other beings, which is used as a plot point and a way to illustrate character motivations several times.
* KlingonPromotion: One of the ways of becoming an Alpha werewolf is killing another Alpha. Derek, Peter, and twins Ethan and Aiden have all employed this.
* LeParkour: Since werewolves have superior agility, strength and speed, they are naturally a lot more athletic than the average human. Werewolf acrobatics are a staple of the show, with Derek, Scott, the twins, and now Liam being the main, but far from the only offenders.
* NeverGetsDrunk: Their rapid healing makes it impossible for werewolves and other were beings to get drunk, as Scott, Liam and Malia all had to learn to their disappointment.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: All the Alphas have these, signalling their greater strength and power over Betas and Omegas.
* ShapeShifting: All werewolves can shapeshift to differing degrees; from merely showing fangs, claws and reflective eyes, to a WolfMan to a complete wolfform, which is usually only possible for Alphas, or very balanced Betas. There is also a monster form, which seems to require a certain [[AxCrazy instability]].
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Beta Werewolves have these in their WolfMan form; it's also a handy way to show they are supernatural, when they don't want to be too conspicuous. A Beta who has killed an innocent has lightblue eyes; an Alpha's eyes are glowing [[RedEyesTakeWarning red]].
* VagueAge: Both born and bitten werewolves seem to age really slowly, to the point where you can usually only guess how old they might be. A prime example is Satomi who should be at least 130 years old and still looks like she could be in her sixties. Born werewolves might be even more complex, as Peter looked like he was in his late teens/early twenties for quite a long time, before turning into his current incarnation, who is seemingly in his late 30s. Scott is the protagonist and main character of the series. Originally, Scott is an unpopular, loner, social outcast, teenage human high school student. He was an asthmatic, a mediocre athlete or lacrosse player at his high school and he had a difficult time with girls and attracting the opposite sex. Personality wise, Scott is socially awkward, a loner and clumsy. Scott's life and destiny changes forever when he is unexpectedly bitten by a large, strange animal in the woods one evening. This animal, unfortunately, is an Alpha werewolf. Now, Scott must balance his newfound powers and abilities as a werewolf with the normal life of a human teenager.

* AccidentalHero: Since Scott has lycanthropy unexpectedly thrust upon him, heroism is also thrust upon him as well. Now that Scott has powers, he seems to thrive to use them to help and save people as much as he can, but all of this heroism is unexpectedly brought onto him.
* ActionHero: In contrast with Stiles, Scott tends to get involved in all of the action and fight scenes.
* {{Adorkable}}: Scott has his fair share of cute, dorky moments, especially when he's [[IncrediblyLamePun mooning over]] Allison or goofing around with Stiles.
* AnchoredShip: After Scott and Allison break up due to their conflicting loyalties, their relationship remains on hold even though their feelings do not. This ship finally gets un-anchored [[spoiler:due to Allison's death]] in Season 3, but Scott's relationship with new girlfriend Kira is showing signs of becoming another AnchoredShip.
* ApologisesALot: Scott apologizes so much that it has become a RunningGag in the series.
* AllLovingHero: He is always willing to see the best in everyone, even his worst enemies. He also believes that those who are corrupted by darkness and evil are capable of being saved somehow. [[spoiler:He does lose patience with Peter Hale eventually, but it takes a while.]]
* BeastAndBeauty: Scott is the Beast (a werewolf) and Allison is the Beauty (a beautiful human girl in love with him).
* BerserkButton: Do not mess with Scott's friends and family. He will wolf out and he will rage.
* BlessedWithSuck: Scott's powers as a werewolf have managed to cause nothing but trouble for Scott and his everyday life. He has to learn how to control himself and his abilities in order to prevent himself from harming or killing his loved ones. This has been proven to be an ongoing struggle for Scott.
* BigBrotherInstinct: He feels responsible for turning Liam and frequently looks out for him.
* BoyMeetsGirl: Scott meets Allison on her first day of school, and they start dating soon after. Unfortunately, Allison being from a hunter family means that things keep pulling them apart.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy:
** Scott by the Alpha in "Night School". Because of this, Scott almost attempts to kill all of his friends including Stiles, Allison, Lydia and Jackson. He snaps out of it pretty quickly, but still...
** This happens yet again in Season 4, [[spoiler:after Kate brainwashes him into becoming one of her Berserkers]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's a nice guy, but don't piss him off by either threatening or hurting the people he loves or hurting innocent people. The result won't be pretty and Scott's tougher side will come out.
* BigGood: Not only is he the [[TheChosenOne "True Alpha"]] (which is a once-in-100-years-werewolf who becomes an Alpha or rises to Alpha status through the goodness and nobility of their character, their strength of will and without taking the power from other werewolves) along with being TheHero, TheLeader, TheHeart, a MagneticHero, an AllLovingHero, a HopeBringer, TheParagon, TheCape, and an IdealHero, but Scott has the [[TheFettered highest and strongest morals, values and ideals]] of any character on the show. Scott stands for [[EmbodimentOfVirtue heroism, justice, compassion, kindness]] and he is a natural-born [[TheLeader leader]] who inspires others to come together for a common purpose. He is also strongly opposed to [[ThouShallNotKill killing]], believes that every one can be saved somehow ([[SaveTheVillain including villains, such as Jackson as the Kanima and Deucalion, for example]]) and [[AllLovingHero he always tries to see the best in everyone, even his own enemies]]. Not to mention that Scott often functions as a MoralityChain for Derek, Allison, and Isaac, and had a strong influence on both Derek and Isaac [[TookALevelInKindness becoming much nicer, gentler and kinder in personality]].
* CannotTalkToWomen: Scott is initially very awkward with the opposite sex. Even when he first meets Allison, he comes off as awkward around her and acts rather clumsy around her at first. This eventually changes as he gets to know her, and he becomes more comfortable with her afterwards.
* ChickMagnet: Invoked in Season 1 especially. Aside from his relationships with Allison and Kira, Scott is also pursued at various points by Lydia and Erica.
* TheChessmaster: Has one memorable instant in Season 2: Gerard Argent spend all of Season Two playing everybody like a fiddle, but the season finale reveals that for the latter half of the season, Scott was one step ahead of him.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Scott has the constant need to save and protect everyone, unlike almost everyone else in Beacon Hills.
* TheChosenOne: Scott is a True Alpha, a once-in-a-century werewolf who can rise to Alpha status based only on their own character and strength of will.
* ComingOfAgeStory: The series is basically Scott's story of growing up and embracing his destiny as a werewolf with extraordinary abilities.
* CoolLoser: Scott's always been good-looking and clever, but is mysteriously an outcast pre-bite.
* CursedWithAwesome: He's not thrilled with being a werewolf, despite the special powers and abilities that come with it.
* DistractedByTheSexy: Especially in the first Season, Scott tends to float off into La-la Land whenever Allison's around or even mentioned.
* DorkKnight: Even though Scott has gained abilities as a werewolf and has become rather heroic, Scott can be rather dorky and socially awkward: the same way he was before he was bitten.
* TheFace: Aside from being TheLeader and TheHeart of his "pack", he's often the one who resorts to a more diplomatic approach when confronting a mission or battle. While Stiles and Lydia may have strength in research and Derek, Allison and Isaac may have strength in fighting skills, Scott's particular strength, aside from being a werewolf and having superhuman abilities which are essential in fighting or battling the enemy, is that he has rather solid or good social skills. Scott can be very charming and persuasive in getting others to see his point of view. He is also rather good at reading people and he almost always tries to talk his pack or his "team" out of plans and missions that might be considered to be too costly, risky and dangerous. Scott could also be considered as the general moral compass of the core group.
* FairyTaleMotifs: In the Pilot episode (''Wolf Moon''), Scott and his best friend Stiles are out in the woods together trying to find or discover a murder victim's body. Coincidentally, like LittleRedRidingHood, Scott is wearing a bright red hoodie. After Stiles manages to get scared off and escapes, Scott ends up getting lost in the woods. Scott realizes that he has lost his inhaler and wanders around the woods trying to find it but is having no luck. Scott is then suddenly attacked by an [[OurWerewolvesAreDifferent Alpha]] werewolf and he is bitten; forever changing Scott from a normal, human teenage boy to an individual cursed with lycanthropy or werewolf-ism.
* AFatherToHisMen: He's an Alpha who has shown kindness, empathy, concern and compassion for the people he cares about (his friends and family) as well as innocents. Comes with being a True Alpha and TheLeader.
* TheFettered: Scott lives by a code of morals and standards that contrasts with the GreyAndGrayMorality of most people around him.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Although Scott is TheHero, and he generally doesn't like to resort to physical violence, he will do so when it is completely necessary. Although he would rather find another way to solve the problem, you mess with him or hurt his loved ones, he will not hesitate to kick your ass.
* TheHeart: He is the glue that holds everyone together and brings people together for a common purpose.
* TheHero: When trouble strikes Beacon Hills, Scott goes to great lengths to rally his friends to help him fix the problem.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Scott and Stiles are both straight, but they love each other as best friends and true companions. They have been through everything together, always look out for each other, and have each others backs no matter what.
* HormoneAddledTeenager: In Season 1, Scott seemed to be obsessed with Allison to the point where he would wolf out in arousal by being around her. Over the course of the series, Scott has become [[CharacterDevelopment significantly more mature and less hormonal]].
* HowDoIShotWeb: In the weeks after being bitten, Scott struggles to master the lycanthropic powers he's aware of, much less maintain control while he wolfs out, much to Derek's frustration.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo:
** In the second season, Scott justifies [[spoiler:working as a spy for Gerard]] by pointing out that his mother's life is on the line if he doesn't.
** This happens again in Season 3, when Deucalion pressures him to join his side by threatening Melissa. Again, it's only temporary.
** Gets another reprise in Season 4, with [[spoiler: assassin Garrett poisoning Liam and threatening to let him die if Scott doesn't help him save his partner and girlfriend Violet.]]
* IHaveNoIdeaWhatImDoing: In 2x11, Scott openly admits to Isaac that he thinks that he has no idea what he is doing most of the time, despite the fact that Isaac had just told Scott that he had trusted him and that he always seemed to have good intentions by always wanting to do what is right.
* IJustWantToBeBadass: Ironically, before Scott is bitten and changed into a werewolf, he yearns to be more popular, more attractive and more athletic.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Despite Scott being given the gift/curse of lycanthropy, which cures his asthma and gives him a whole host of super powers, he still yearns to be a regular, human teenager with the normal life he had before. Throughout the first season, he seeks a cure for his lycanthropy in order to return back to the regular, normal, asthmatic teenage human he was before.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Before Scott is bitten, Scott is rather socially awkward, self-conscious, and doesn't fit in with the popular crowd at his school. He doesn't have any friends other than Stiles, his best friend since childhood. After getting bitten and meeting Alison, he starts to find a larger social circle, including much of the main cast.
* IdealHero: His being the [[TheChosenOne True Alpha]] and all. He's basically Teen Wolf's ''Franchise/{{Superman}}'' or ''Franchise/CaptainAmerica''.
* InterspeciesRomance: Scott, who is a werewolf, is in love and in a romantic relationship with Allison, who is a human. Later, he ends up in a budding romance with Kira who is a kitsune.
* ItsAllMyFault: There are times when Scott feels that everything bad that is happening to his friends and family is his fault due to his ties to the supernatural and what he is. Sometimes Scott even goes so far as to blame himself for all of the bad supernatural events occurring within Beacon Hills, since he's one of the few people with the power to bring an end to the danger.
* ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies: Despite thinking that he and Alison are the loves of each other's life, Scott's makes no protest to her breaking up with him, since he thinks she'll be safer if she's not a target for the supernatural enemies he keeps accumulating.
* KubrickStare: Scott often stares down his opponent by tilting his head down and looking up beneath his brows.
* TheLeader: He has the natural ability of leading people and he inspires people to listen to him and follow him. Scott is a combination of Type II and Type IV.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Scott's devotion to his friends helps keep Stiles, Derek and even Allison more stable.
* LovableJock: Scott may be a lacrosse player, but he doesn't lose his underdog charm . . . most of the time.
* MagneticHero[=/=]TheParagon[=/=]TheCape: He inspires loyalty and has much admiration from other people. All part of being a [[TheChosenOne True Alpha]].
* TheMasqueradeWillKillYourDatingLife: Once Allison starts her training as a werewolf hunter, Scott and Allison find themselves on opposite sides of TheMasquerade. This twice comes between them: when Allison first discovers Scott is one of the werewolves her family is hunting and when [[spoiler:Allison's mother gets bitten]], causing Allison to be a lot less sympathetic to werewolves in general.
* MoralityPet: Scott is more or less Derek's werewolf Jiminy Cricket, but he also helps Isaac find his way back to more acceptable social behaviour.
* MrFanservice: Scott is attractive and often has his shirt off, exposing his buff chest, abs and arms. This seems to be an ongoing thing in order to entice the female viewers.
* NaiveNewcomer: The circumstances around Scott being turned into a werewolf makes him a complete newbie to the supernatural side of the world, and it isn't until Derek's arrival and extensive researching on Stiles' part that Scott truly begins to understand how being a werewolf affects his daily life.

* NerdyInhaler: While he was still a regular human, Scott was a social outcast and a loner who suffered from severe asthma conditions. Because of this, he carried an inhaler with him at all times.
* NiceGuy: Scott is a nice, sweet guy to basically everyone...well, almost everyone.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: It is easy to understand how Scott could be sympathetic towards [[spoiler: Jackson]], who cannot control his change into the Kanima. But by so vigorously protecting him from being killed by Derek, even though Scott had no plan for how to keep him contained in the long-term, he technically bears some responsibility for all the murders the Kanima subsequently commits, especially of [[spoiler: all those innocent police officers]].
* NobleMaleRoguishMale: Scott is known to be the noble, gentle and more diplomatic in how he approaches things, while Derek appears to be more reckless, impulsive, wild and more prone to violence. Naturally, this frequently brings them into conflict even when they both are working to deal with whatever supernatural problem is plaguing Beacon Hills.
* NotHimself: Scott becomes reckless, irrational, cruel and loses his inhibitions especially when the full moon comes out.
* OnlyFriend: To Stiles, and vice-versa. At least initially, neither boy seems to have anyone else they spend time with.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: As befits a teen-targeted show, Scott is a random teenage nobody before a chance encounter with an Alpha werewolf puts him at the center of the supernatural weirdness in Beacon Hills.
* ParentalAbandonment: Scott's father walked out on him and his mother when he was a child, and doesn't even speak to Scott again until he returns to Beacon Hills nearly a decade later.
* PartTimeHero: Scott may want to help, protect and save everyone and make sure everyone is happy and alive, but he also wants a normal teen life and a sense of normalcy as much as possible.
* ProHumanTranshuman: Scott is a victim of this as a result of being bitten by the Alpha werewolf. Despite having become a werewolf capable of great destruction, he still fights to be part of humanity and keep a hold on his human side instead of succumbing to the destructiveness and darkness that comes along with being a werewolf. Unlike most of the other werewolves, he puts the safety of innocents above all else.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: The reason Scott got a tattoo at the beginning of Season 3 is because his actor did.
* RealityEnsues: Scott always [[ShouldntWeBeInSchoolRightNow misses out on school due to being a werewolf]]... which causes him to have terrible grades and risk being held back a year.
* ThePollyanna: He is very positive, optimistic and he believes that there is always hope, no matter how bad a situation is or the how dire the circumstances are.
* {{Protagonist}}: The story initially focuses on Scott dealing with his lycanthropy before moving on to him protecting Beacon Hills from supernatural threats. By WordOfGod, though the teen werewolf premise could continue with the new characters introduced in Season 4, the series will end when Scott's story is over.
* PrimaryColorChampion: Scott is often seen wearing the colors red and blue, indicating at his heroic status.
* ProHumanTranshuman: He cares deeply for humans and innocents, even trying to protect the Argents when possible. In contrast Derek is fine offering the [[BlessedWithSuck "gift"]] of Lycanthropy to those who crave it, outcasts, the emotionally damaged and with health problems. Scott is particularly upset at this because of the active hunting werewolves face, making that much more likely the new converts die... Assuming they don't kill someone first.
* TheRival: After Scott gets bitten, Scott becomes a star athlete on the lacrosse team and gains popularity, robbing Jackson of his status as top lacrosse player and most popular. This causes Jackson to become highly antagonistic towards Scott and vice versa, causing the rivalry between Scott and Jackson to heat up intensely, especially in the first season.
* SaveTheVillain: Scott attempts to save the Kanima in Season 2 rather than accept the loss of the person who was unwillingly transformed into a monster, in contrast to both Derek and Stiles, who are willing to kill the Kanima outright.
* SecretIdentity: Scott keeps his identity as a werewolf a secret from the public due to the many dangers surrounding him (including werewolf hunters).
* TheShadowKnows: In "Anchors", Scott starts seeing his shadow transform into a more bestial alpha form as a side effect of [[spoiler: rejuvenating the Nemeton.]]
* ShirtlessScene: Scott gets these types of scenes frequently throughout the series, generally corresponding with shape-shifting.
* SociallyAwkwardHero: Although he is capable of bravery, courage and heroism when fighting or battling the bad guy, Scott is still the same clumsy and awkward person he was before he came a werewolf.
* StarCrossedLovers: Allison and Scott. He's a werewolf; she's a werewolf hunter. Even when they can personally reconcile this, the antagonism from her family and his fellow werewolves ensure it will always be an issue.
* TechnicalPacifist: With Scott being a werewolf, violence often comes along with it. Scott is very capable of killing when he has to, but Scott does not take the ending of one's life lightly whatsoever. He believes that killing shouldn't ever be the first option, and refuses to let anyone else kill the Kanima while he tries to find a way to save the unfortunate person who had been transformed into it.
* ThePowerOfLove: Due to Scott's love for her, Allison has the ability to keep Scott human and prevent him from wolfing out. Allison has been described as Scott's humanity or his anchor into keeping his humanity.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Scott believes that no matter how good or bad someone is, even if they are a monster, killing them shouldn't be the first option.
* TookALevelInBadass: Scott went from a nerdy, asthmatic loner to a tougher, stronger and more badass werewolf with superhuman abilities.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatPerks: When Scott is turned into a werewolf and gains powers and abilities, Scott doesn't initially use his powers and abilities for deep, meaningful purposes. Instead, he often uses his powers on the lacrosse field in order to win games and have power and dominance over his fellow teammates. That begin said, once he realizes just how much danger the various supernatural threats pose to the innocent people of Beacon Hills, he kicks the heroism up a notch and stops using his powers to only help himself.

Allison is the beautiful, new girl in Beacon Hills. She's been sheltered from her family's double life as a clan of werewolf hunters. She begins to fall for Scott; the feeling is mutual. However, her lineage might complicate matters some and make her relationship with Scott tension-packed.

In the third season, he ends up possessed by a malevolent spirit of Japanese origin called the nogitsune. Due to this, he is forced to fight his friends and family against his will until they find a way to save him.

* AntiHero: Although Derek has generally good intentions, he does morally questionable things, like dosing people with Kanima venom and trying to kill Lydia, to achieve his well-intentioned goals.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: While Derek is an Alpha, he is significantly stronger and tougher than other werewolves, including the betas of his pack (Isaac, Boyd, Erica). Derek calls all of the shots because not only is he the Alpha but he is also the strongest physically.
* BigBrotherMentor: As the only experienced, sympathetic werewolf, Derek takes first Scott and then Isaac, Boyd and Erica under his wing and teaches them how to use their powers.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Was born a werewolf, raised in a family of werewolves, and will always do things the werewolf way. Whether or not that lines up with anyone's notions of 'good' is a crapshoot.
* BrutalHonesty: More often than not, Derek doesn't sugarcoat the truth. He's pretty open and straight to the point when it comes to his own opinions.
* ButtMonkey: He's been shot, poisoned, apparently murdered, tortured and beaten by way of setting the stakes and showing off the worst the baddies can offer. Nothing good happens to him.

He likes to be the star on the lacrosse field and doesn't take lightly to any competition. When Scott gains werewolf abilities, Jackson becomes very jealous of him, and tries everything to find out his secret.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He does care about his friends, few as they are.
* LonelyRichKid: Jackson is spoiled, rich and gets everything he wants. However, his deep-seated insecurity causes him to keep both his parents and other people at arm's length through coldness and arrogant behaviour.
* MrFanservice: Jackson is an attractive young athlete drawn into a scary supernatural world: naturally, this leads to many scenes in locker rooms with lots and lots of shirt-changing.

The Beacon Hills Alpha is the one responsible for killing Laura Hale, turning Scott into a werewolf, and causing murder and mayhem throughout Season 1. Late in the season, the protagonists discover that the Alpha is actually [[spoiler: Peter Hale]].

* ObviouslyEvil: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Stiles, who points out after TheReveal that his cliché villainous traits (red eyes, fangs, turning into a wolf in general) to wryly refute his claim that he's "not the bad guy".

!!The Kanima
The Kanima is a murderous reptilian creature with a prehensile tail and a paralytic poison on its claws. Discovering its motives is one of the main arcs of Season 2. In its human form, the Kanima is [[spoiler: Jackson Whittemore]].

* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: The only major reptile in the cast, and it's a villainous lizardlike creature that murders people at its master's behest.


!!The Darach
The Darach is a dark druid who ritually sacrifices victims to gain power and is one of the main villains of the first half of Season 3. The public identity of the Darach is [[spoiler: Jennifer Blake]].

* HumanSacrifice: The main reason for its villainy. It sacrificed all those people in an attempt to [[spoiler: defeat the Alpha pack]].
* LeaveNoWitnesses: The Darach attempts to kill both Danny and Lydia, not as sacrifices, but because they had uncovered too much crucial information. It is also implied that [[spoiler: Mr. Harris]] was chosen as a sacrifice not only because of his military background, but because he was [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness complicit in what was going on and might reveal something]].
* RuleOfThree: Three healers, three warriors, three virgins, three guardians...
* SerialKiller: Killed their victims in ritual sacrifices.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: The Darach has a pretty good motivation for their behaviour. [[spoiler:after Kali killed their pack, leaving her severely injured, she genuinely believes that the Alpha Pack are a danger to everyone and need to be stopped at all costs.]] Too bad they resort to human sacrifice to achieve their ends.


!!The Oni
The Oni are demons who appear as humanoid warriors with masks and glowing eyes. In the second half of Season 3, they start attacking people in Beacon Hills, looking for [[spoiler:the Nogitsune]].

* CastingAShadow: Can appear and disappear with ease due to turning into black smoke. This comes with the downside of not being able to operate in daylight.

* ImplacableMan: According to Silverfinger, the Oni are not fought but instead endured, as fighting them would be pointless due to how powerful they are.

* OrificeInvasion: This is how the Nogitsune tends to possess or influence people. It took control of its first body by entering it's mouth the form of a fly. Later, [[spoiler: while in Stiles's body]], it released many more flies. They entered Isaac through his IV pump, Ethan through his nose, Aiden through his ear, and Derek through an open wound on his back, and acted as a HatePlague for all four of them.
* SealedEvilInACan: In the 1940s, Noshiko trapped him in a jar and buried it under the roots of the Nemeton. In present day, Isaac catches him in a magical wooden box, which currently resides with the Argents' relatives in France.
* {{Trickster}}: of the JerkAss variety.
* Really700YearsOld: 1000 even. He insists on it.

!!The Berserkers
A particularly creepy kind of supernatural fighter, they wear bear skulls and ribcages, and are virtually unstoppable. In contrast to the berserkrs of Norse legend they cannot snap out of their fighting mood, and they have a boss, whom they follow without question: ''La Loba'', the Bone Woman [[spoiler:who is actually Kate Argent.]].

* AndIMustScream: Per Chris Argent, berserkers who go through the transformation voluntarily slowly lose their humanity, until nothing of their former personality is left. Combine this with the MindControl aspect of La Loba transforming people [[spoiler:like Scott]] against their will and you get this.
* TheBerserker: Played with: They are unstoppable fighters transformed by wearing animal parts, but not enraged or out of control. They also lose their humanity after a while, and cannot drop out of the berserker state anymore. Finally, they have a master whom they obey unquestioningly.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: It is implied that the berserkers didn't become ferocious fighters of their own will, but were forced into their situation by Magic and MindControl. Invoked with [[spoiler:Scott]] after La Loba forcibly turns him into a berserker.
* EliteMooks: They are strong, ferocious and unstoppable killing machines, but, aside from MindControl victim [[spoiler:Scott]], don't have any personality left.
* FacelessGoons: They are huge guys in bear skeletons fighting for a bad guy: pretty creepy, definitely evil, and not exactly individualists.
* IKnowYouAreInThereSomewhereFight: If they haven't been transformed for long, there is a small chance of snapping them out of their state. [[spoiler:Liam]] tries it with [[spoiler:Scott]] and succeeds.
* SuperToughness: Katanas faze them as little as bullets or ordinary werewolf strength. You can kill them only by supernatural means - or by [[spoiler:blowing them up]].

* ShapeShifting: All werewolves can shapeshift to differing degrees; from merely showing fangs, claws and reflective eyes, to a WolfMan to a complete wolfform, which is usually only possible for Alphas. There is also a monster form, which seems to require a certain [[AxCrazy instability]].

* BashBrothers: With Stiles, Derek and Isaac. Scott sees all three as his allies and even as brother figures for him. Scott strongly depends on them emotionally and during times of need. He trusts all three to have his back no matter during times of importance or during battles, plans and missions. Stiles is Scott's best friend and could be considered to be his right hand man who is always there to support and help him along the way. Derek, although Scott was originally wary of him, grows to respect and trust Derek with his life and always turns to him in times of need or for advice, seeing Derek as an older brother and a mentor for him. And Isaac, Scott grew very close to him and formed a strong bond with him, to the point where Isaac saw Scott as "his Alpha".
* BeastAndBeauty: Scott is the Beast (a werewolf) and Allison is the Beauty (a beautiful human girl in love with him). Part of what makes Scott and Allison's relationship the epitome of the StarcrossedLovers romance type.
* BerserkButton: DO NOT mess with Scott's friends and family, especially his mother, Allison and Stiles. He will wolf out and he will rage. Also, hurting or killing innocent people will also make Scott very angry.

Scott has also shown that he is extremely protective towards Liam and that he not only displays big brother levels of protectiveness towards Liam but that he also displays shades of paternal protectiveness towards him. * BigBrotherMentor: To Liam. Scott turned Liam into a werewolf in order to save his life and Liam is therefore Scott's first official beta. Scott is very protective of Liam and has helped Liam to adjust to his new life and his new identity as a werewolf.

While Scott is by no means stupid or unintelligent, Scott is more likely to depend on his physical skills (his werewolf abilities) to combat the enemy while Stiles is more likely to use his brains and intelligence to outsmart the enemy. Together, as a duo, their combined skills complement each other during battles.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Scott by the Alpha (Peter) in "Night School". Because of this, Scott almost attempts to kill all of his friends including Stiles, Allison, Lydia and Jackson. He snaps out of it pretty quickly, but still...

Their relationship is made even more tragic when [[spoiler: Allison ends up dying in Scott's arms after she confesses that she has always loved Scott.]]

* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Especially in the second season when she does a bit of a FaceHeelTurn. Allison starts off as nice, kind and friendly until she becomes corrupted by her family. This is later averted in the third season though.

* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Allison is killed at the end of season three when she is stabbed while trying to save her friends from the Oni.]]

* StarCrossedLovers: Her relationship with Scott. He's a werewolf; she's a werewolf hunter. [[spoiler" Allison ends up dying in Scott's arms after she is stabbed to death, to make their relationship even more tragic.]]

Stiles is Scott's best (and at first, only) friend. Initially, he's the only one who Scott trusts to tell about his transformation; this is a good call on his part, given that Stiles goes ''very'' out of his way to help his buddy out. In the third season, he ends up possessed by a malevolent spirit of Japanese origin called the nogitsune. Due to this, he is forced to fight his friends and family against his will until they find a way to save him.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Stiles felt this way in regards to both Scott and Jackson. In regards to Scott, it was the fact that Scott had all the cool werewolf powers and he was just the regular human guy who was skinny and a nerd and had no superhuman abilities. There's also the fact that along with the abilities that Scott gained through lycanthropy, Scott had also gained athleticism and popularity, things Stiles also desired deep down. In regards to Jackson, it was that Jackson had Lydia's, the girl who has always loved since his childhood, affections with Stiles' feelings for Lydia being [[UnrequitedLove unrequited]] and Lydia [[ObliviousToLove completely oblivious to Stiles and his feelings for her.]]
* AmbiguouslyBi: Played with. While Stiles has harbored long term romantic feelings for Lydia for the majority of his life and he is clearly attracted to and in a relationship with Malia, he seems to also be very interested in whether or not he's attractive to gay guys, and he asks both Scott and Danny whether they find him attractive. After his dad [[ItMakesSenseInContext finds him at a gay bar]], he tells his dad that he "could be (gay)." Additionally, he seems almost disappointed when Danny's offer to sleep with him turns out to be a joke, and takes a serious pause when Caitlin asks him if he's into guys as well as girls.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Averted. Stiles has ADHD according to WordOfGod, but it mainly manifests in impulsive decisions and body language. Stiles has mentioned thay he does take Adderall for it.

* BashBrothers: With Scott. Stiles is always there alongside Scott during battles and missions. He also has Scott's back 100 percent and is always there to help Scott and the rest of the pack. Stiles has proven to be a strong support system for Scott during times of importance or need. Stiles and Scott are also considered to be a BrainsAndBrawn duo with Stiles being the Brains (relies on his book smarts and his intelligence in plans and missions) to Scott's Brawn (relies on his leadership skills and his superhuman abilities as a werewolf to combat the enemy during plans or missions). This comes with them being HeterosexualLifePartners who would do anything for each other without hesitation.
* BrainsAndBrawn: Stiles is the Brains to Scott's werewolf Brawn. While Stiles is more likely to conduct research during battles, plans and missions, Scott is more likely to be in the middle of the action and fight scenes, considering he's a werewolf with superhuman abilities and all.
* CharacterDevelopment: His EstablishingCharacterMoment is [[PluckyComicRelief falling off of Scott's roof]], by the Season 1 finale he [[spoiler: sets fire to the Alpha]]. Stiles goes from being a regular human kid who was skinny and awkard to being much more confident and being able to stand up to all of the supernatural beings around him despite having no powers or abilities (other than his brains and intelligence) to defend himself.

Stiles also frequently tries to remind Scott that despite the fact that he is a True Alpha with major responsibilities, he's still totally capable of wanting human things or normalcy.
* TheConfidant: Whenever Scott needs someone to talk to, Stiles is there for him. Stiles often supports Scott in anything and everything that he does and when Scott needs someone there, he is always there to support him. Stiles relationship with Scott could be considered to be the strongest and enduring relationship on the show due to how much Scott and Stiles depend on each other.

* CoolCar: Stiles drives an infamous blue coloured Jeep. It is known to be ''the'' official car of Teen Wolf (other than Derek's Camaro).
* CoolLoser: Stiles may be quirky and awkward but he is also incredibly charming, witty and attractive.

* MrFanservice: Jackson is an attractive young athlete, who is drawn into a scary supernatural world: naturally this leads to many scenes in locker rooms with lots and lots of shirt-changing.

* OutOfCharacterAlert: When Stiles kidnapped Jackson and didn't want Jackson's parents to realize he was missing, Stiles sent a text from Jackson's phone impersonating him to explain why Jackson didn't come home, but since the text ended with "love you" to his parents, they know something was wrong because Jackson hasn't been able to say that to them since he found out he was adopted.

* PutOnABus: Jackson did not return for Season 3 because Colton Haynes joined the cast of ''Series/{{Arrow}}''. In-universe, Jackson is going to school in Paris. Given how well ''Arrow'' is doing, it's likely that this will remain a LongBusTrip.

** Also, after Derek gives Jackson the bite in the beginning of Season 2, his body rejects the bite and he starts oozing black goo out of every orifice, on top of vivid hallucinations.

* TeamDad: Alongside Sheriff Stilinski, they're both sensible authority figures who look after the teenage protagonists (and sometimes fight alongside them).

* ColdBloodedTorture: Their favourite interrogation technique, whether it's cutting off Peter's finger, or threatening to force Kira to electrify Scott. TurnedUpToEleven, since they partly do it to warn Derek and Scott and his pack that something evil - ''La Loba'' [[spoiler:or more precisely transformed Kate]] - is afoot.
* MeaningfulName: ''La calavera'' means "skull" in Spanish.
* TheHunter: They are werewolf hunters and they are very thorough.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: The Calaveras believe that the "normal" human world has to be protected from supernatural beings, and that it is their job to put down any dangerous creatures. As opposed to the Argents, they actually follow the traditional Hunter's Code.
