The season takes twenty four teenagers and placing them on an abandoned island to compete for 100,000 poke, they are split up into two teams; [[TheSmartGuy The Brainy Baltoy]] and [[TheBigGuy The Brawny Basculin]], and are subsequently forced into competing against one another in challenges, that go on to test their relationships, push their strength to the absolute limit, emotionally break their morality, and place all kinds of barriers against their own sanity! This is mostly due to the fact that, unlike a good number of the cast, Bari is a genuinely kind hearted guy who only seems to see the best in most people and constantly shows only UndyingLoyalty towards his friends, even when he probably shouldn't be so kind. Even the most hateful contestants at least seem to admire ''something'' about him. [[EnsembleDarkhorse He's even admired outside of the series]].

* WillTheyOrWontThey: For '''FMTDI''', it was Nazira and Nedrick, who constantly flirted with each other, but the latter showcased little to no real feelings towards him. [[spoiler:TheyDo.]]

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: While the males generally do get hurt more often, the females certainly get their fair share of injuries.

The series acts as a reimagining/"what if?" series, taking the contestants of both writer's previous and current works, and then placing them inside the original Total Drama as the contestants. The series' hosts are made up of [[AlphaBitch Amber]] and [[CampStraight Logan]], and they're currently employing [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Pluto]] as chef, a position that formerly belonged to [[LethalChef Tyson]].

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Kaden is the only universally hated contestant in the entire cast, [[{{Jerkass}} due to his rude personality]], his [[SelfProclaimedLoveInterest less than comfortable attempts on]] Gareth, and his [[NeverMyFault inability to accept his own mistakes]]. It's saying something when he's the ''only'' contestant during the special that never even got an offer to join any of the groups forming, as simply put, ''nobody'' wants to be around him if given the option.
* FifteenMinutesOfFame: All of the contestants are essentially competing more so for the fame they'll receive after the show over the amount of money they'll win off of it, as most are aware that the money won't last very long anyways.

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Kaden quickly becomes something of an unwanted love interest to Gareth, quickly beginning his own attempts at trying to sexually charm him into becoming his boyfriend...Maybe. After his elimination, he basically confirms he just wants Gareth in order for him to basically be his SexSlave of sorts, but later on, he ''still'' seems to be after Gareth, even after he's gotten a girlfriend, and the special outright confirms he has developed feelings for him. Gareth doesn't return said feelings for obvious reasons though, which Kaden usually reacts to negatively, whether it be badmouthing him or his friends, or outright trying to steal him from his girlfriend, he's always in the wrong in these situations.

* AbusiveParents: Sadly, quite a few people in the cast don't exactly have the best parents.
** Alfred's parents apparently don't pay much attention to him at all, and the only time they even respond to anything he tells them is if he talks about his good grades. Otherwise, [[ParentalNeglect he's basically ignored]].
** Similarly, Brick's father doesn't seem to actually like any of his sons all too much, and only will ever pay them much mind if they win something, and even then it's usually instantly forgotten due to him stating that he expects them to only try harder next time.
** Cynthia's father restricts her from doing anything without his permission and demands that she always acts like his "perfect little girl".
** Gareth [[spoiler:and Gein's]] parents both have notable issues with their child. His father up and left him after his personality changed so drastically, and his mother seems to hold a type of secretive contempt for him ever since said-father left.
** Isabel's mother outright left her family and has abandoned all contact with her daughter. Isabel has made it clear that she now holds a large amount of contempt for her mother.
** Kaden's entire family sees him as a massive disappointment, and seems to have gone on to disown him completely from the family.
** Quincy's mother makes it no secret that she regrets having a kid, usually preferring to outright ignore him or force him to keep to himself. Tragically, Quincy himself doesn't seem to ''know'' how awful his mother is.
** Sage's parents don't seem to even notice she exists half the time.
** While we never meet or even learn about her ''actual'' parents, Tempest's basically abandoned her on the streets, leading to her being raised by a random hobo who became a ParentalSubstitute to her.
** Zetsu's father is a horrible man who admits to his son's face that he is pathetic disappointment to him, and is heavily implied to have actually beaten Zetsu before.

* AcademicAthlete: Despite his [[IdiotBall occasional spouts of absolute idiocy]], WordOfGod has confirmed that Chad actually gets straight A's in all of his classes.
* AcceptableBreaksFromReality: The confessionals reason for existing are most to let the viewers know what the contestants are thinking after each scene, but just when they are actually filmed is completely ambiguous, to a point where you can't help but wonder about it.
* AccidentalMisnaming: Throughout '''FMTDI''', Tempest mostly just refers to the other contestants as different variations of demons instead of their actual names. In fact, the ''only'' people she referred to by name were the few who are either her friends or those she respects. Otherwise, she likely gave you some bizarre name.

** However, as the story goes on, this slowly becomes [[InvertedTrope less and less true]].
* AchievementsInIgnorance:
** If anyone else had been falling from over a thousand feet in the air, chances are they wouldn't have gotten eaten by a gigantic Pelipper out of nowhere. But considering [[ButtMonkey Zetsu's luck often verges on impossibility]], it slowly becomes more expected than anything.
** Somehow Brooke and Quincy were ''actually'' able to turn an entire chlorinated pool into bright green jello. If anyone else had tried to do so, they would have failed, but somehow these two were able to pull off creating it.
** The fact that Tempest somehow had produced enough force in an electric explosion to practically nuke an entire island to a point of destroying a good chunk of it and even burning it proves that even basic facts of how reality is supposed to work isn't capable of stopping Tempest's absurd power.
* AchillesHeel:
** Ace's inability to form actual connections with those around him and his own superiority complex is much more likely to ruin his game than actually aid him in any way.
** Alia's problems with listening to authority and actually paying attention to instructions. She's so used to just doing her own thing and not caring about rules or anything of the sort is easily able to screw her over.
** Benson's incredibly large ego is a huge pain in the side of just about everyone, including himself considering how easily it causes him issues with other people.
** Brick forgetting any kind of promises or attempts to become a better person simply because he got too comfortable in a situation is the primary reason he left so quickly in '''FMTDI''', as the others got annoyed with him becoming a colossal prick again.
** Isabel's scythe-like hands are a constant pain for her, as they completely render her ability to actually use them completely moot, meaning she have to rely on the rest of her body in order to not fall behind.
** Juvia and Kanaya share an issue of a lack of self confidence and a personal belief that they need to rely on others and their friendships in order to be of any use, leading to both usually becoming hindrances simply because they don't try not to be.
** Nedrick's horrible luck and his tendency to get hurt so easily will often doom him to either suffering a horrible injury, or simply losing out on any chance to prove himself to the others.
** Sage's ego and terrible attitude towards others makes it near impossible for her to form any long lasting friendships with others, which can also lead to her simply making a dumb mistake that ruins her reputation in the process.
** Zetsu is so quick to begin freaking out at the smallest of things, that it quickly causes others to become annoyed with him, and the rest of the time this nervousness and inability to stay calm under pressure makes him basically useless at times.
* AcquiredSituationalNarcissism: Some contestants do suffer from the occasional prideful overconfidence.
** Occasionally, Brick seems to forget just how much trouble his moments of egotistical pride can get him in, as he constantly allows it to get to his head. This actually became a major reason for him to attempt [[HeelFaceTurn becoming a better person]], as he's become increasingly aware of how much it has affected those around him.
** Tempest mostly keeps to herself, and can come across as downright humble and even a little anxious while around [[MoralityPet Zetsu]], but usually when she's truly showing off her strength, Tempest's major superiority issues come to show that she's still very proud of her incomparable power.

* ActionGirl: Some of the female contestants have proven themselves to be real threats when it comes down to dealing with dangerous situations.
** Cynthia is the [[spoiler:heir to a Yakuza gang]], but along with that, she is an undeniably very competitive girl who is more than willing to fight in order to keep herself in the game alongside her friends.
** Isabel acts as the leader for her team, but despite this, or possibly ''because'' of this, she actually seems more willing at times to throw herself into the middle of an conflict and prove herself.
** Nazira has [[spoiler:grown up all of her life on the streets without any friends and family to turn to]], so she has naturally grown very tough compared to her peers, taking a lot more abuse and being able to dish out just as much in return, and she's certainly not one to just standby and allow others to get away with whatever they're planning.
** Tempest is ''the'' strongest character in the series in terms of raw power, and has proven time and time again to be capable of destroying anything that goes against her or anyone she cares about, even practically [[spoiler:setting off a miniature nuke with just her pure electric energy]].
* ADateWithRosiePalms: Several times during the merge of '''FMTDI''', Zetsu will abruptly run off in order to "relieve some tension", usually after some kind of interaction with Tempest.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Every episode seems to put some extra focus on a different set of characters.

* AffablyEvil: Doc may be an anarchistic, psychotic, and potentially dangerous trickster who likes to mess with people purely to get a reaction, but oddly enough, he's possibly the friendliest antagonist by quite a large margin, since his good side shows itself far more commonly than the rest of the villains.
* AffectionateNickname:
** Cynthia is often referred to as "Cyn" by some of her closest friends, usually Nazira.
** Benson is occasionally called "Ben" or "Benny" by Alia.
** Tempest has called Zetsu a variety of nicknames, including "Fluffy One", "Grand Fire Knight Zetsu", "Grant Fire ''King'' Zetsu", "Grand Sun God Zetsu", etc. While most of them are similar, the fact that she seems to consistently change them to more flattering names as they grow closer is still a nice touch.
* AffectionateParody: Of ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'', down to basing basically the entire series on it. It also takes some minor inspiration from the likes of ''{{Series/Survivor}}'', ''Series/BigBrother'', and ''Series/TheAmazingRace''.

* AlienBlood: The ghosts of the series don't bleed a traditional red color, but actually a neon purple type of plasma.

* TheAllAmericanBoy: Chad is actually a parody of this, being a big sports fan, a lover of all things traditionally American, and incredibly charming. It goes a step further when WordOfGod began to describe the cast as humans, which actually gave Chad blonde hair, blue eyes, a muscular build, and white skin, all of which clearly matching up with the stereotype.
* AllForNothing: A major part of the show. After going through an entire lifetime's worth of physical torture, emotional pain, pushed to the limit mental awareness, and more...Only ''one'' player actually wins in the end, leading to everyone else's time having essentially been wasted and making everything they had gone through completely moot in terms of worth.

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer:
** Alfred was an outcast back in his hometown due to his social obliviousness and awkward personality, to a point where his parents even seemed ashamed of him as a whole.
** Bari has spent his entire life wandering from town to town eating anything edible, never really forming any friendships due to his lack of social skills, his clinginess, and his horrible stench.
** Doc spends most of his time at his school messing with anyone he comes across, which ranges from mild pranks, to apparently full-on false bomb usage, leading to everyone there, including the staff, hating his guts.
** Mimi is awkward around others and constantly belittles herself, leading to many having problems ever connecting with her or pushing her away.
** Tempest has no real connection to reality, leading to her absurd outlook on reality causing others to easily be pushed away.
* AllOrNothing: At the end of the season, you're either the winner and walk away with a huge sum of money, or you lose and get...Nothing.

* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Violet is a ''very'' attractive young lady who appears far more formal and professional than most of her peers, but along with that, she's by far the most emotionally distant contestant, rarely forming actual connections.
* AlphaBitch: Amber is the hostess of the entire '''Fuzzy Memories''' series as a whole, basically running the show. Along with that, she's also among the most bratty and stereotypically teenage-like among the entire cast, often acting as if she's the most popular girl in a high school instead of acting like a gameshow host.
* AlwaysCamp:
** Amber and Logan usually take things to their most dramatic in order to play things up for the cameras, and might also just be because they like acting that way.
** Benson purposefully made himself seem like a TeamPrimaDonna, playing up the more campy qualities of the part in order to seem a little bit like an AlphaBitch. However, this was mostly part of his act and the normal him is actually very professional.
** Chad ''screams'' everything he says basically, having by far the loudest voice of the cast and some of the most energy by far, causing everything he says to seem incredibly boisterous, proud, and most of all, cheerful.
** Tempest thinks she's the world's strongest fighter, and thus always plays herself up and tries to destroy as much around her as possible to prove it. Over time this [[CharacterDevelopment settles down slightly]], but it still remains a major part of her personality.

** AmazonChaser: Ace, Kanaya, Nedrick, and Zetsu all also have had major crushes on or have begun relationships with these same girls.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Nazira is heavily hinted at being black, which was later confirmed via WordOfGod.

* AmnesiacHero: Juvia actually doesn't remember most of her early life, apparently having completely forgotten her parents and where she was born.
** AmnesiacsAreInnocent: She's also by far among the kindest and purest contestants on the show.

* AnimalMotifs:
** Alfred(spiders), Isabel(weaver ants), Nedrick(cicadas), Tempest(spiders), and Zetsu(moths): Bugs.
** Alia, Gareth[[spoiler:/Gein]], and Violet: Cats.
** Benson and Brick: Dinosaurs.
** Freya: Ferrets.
** Ace, Amber, Cynthia, Kaden, and Logan: Foxes.
** Sage: Geckos.
** Quincy: Mudfish.
** Bari: Wolves.

* AntiHero:
** Benson may have ultimately just been exaggerating his personality for the show, but that doesn't change the fact he still pulled several things that were less than heroic.
** Brick is ''trying'' to become a better person, but he's still more than a little prone to freaking out at the smallest of things due to his HairTriggerTemper, leading to him sometimes lashing out at others. Again, he really is getting better, but he certainly isn't any kind of hero.
** Cynthia was the [[spoiler:[[BigBad main antagonist]]]] of '''FMTDI''', but she's still a very polite, socially friendly girl who never does things with the intention of hurting others. She just so happens to be a very competitive player is all due to how she was raised.
** Doc has had his fair share of both PetTheDog and KickTheDog moments throughout the series, and usually is quick to swap between being a reluctant hero and a chaotic villain in a moment's notice for basically no real reason other than that it amuses him.
** Nazira plays the game in a very serious and cutthroat manner, rarely letting others get away with much of anything if it could cost her the competition. However, she still has a very protective side of her she reserves for her friends, who she is fiercely loyal and kind to in every situation.
** Tempest never really plays sides, usually just doing her own thing and causing as much chaos as possible in the process. Even after she claims to have become Earth's official defender against all evil, she still is a vigilante, which is illegal, and she certainly hasn't gotten any nicer.
* AntiHeroTeam: Both the [[TheBigGuy Brawny Basculin]] and the [[AntiHeroTeam Prideful Producers]] share a theme of having teams made up almost entirely of gray-moralled characters. However, you could make a solid argument that just about every team counts as this.
* TheAntiNihilist: Both Gareth and Quincy are more than well aware of just how horrible the world seems to be despite their low intelligence. Despite this, they're easily some of the most positive and kind members of the entire cast as a whole, and usually go out of their ways to make others feel better. Seems that regardless of how bad their lives get, they see no reason not to be kind to others and treat them the best they possibly can.

** Ace served as an antagonist for the episodes ''"Phobia Factor"'' and ''"Who Can You Trust?"''.
** Benson served as an antagonist for the episodes ''"Who Can You Trust?"'' and ''"The Big Sleep"''.
** Brick served as an antagonist for the episodes ''"Not So Happy Campers"'', ''"Phobia Factor"'', ''"The Big Sleep"'', ''"If You Can't Take the Heat..."'', and ''"Basic Straining"''.
** Cynthia served as an antagonist for the episodes ''"X-Treme Torture"'', ''"Trial by Tri-Armed Triathlon"'', ''"I Triple Dog Dare You!"'', and ''"Brunch of Disgustingness"''.

** Kanaya is possibly the most obvious example of this trope, as just how dedicated she seems to be to making sure everyone is at their happiest while also obsessively loving just about every 'ship' all around her while consistently encouraging them only makes all of her scenes all that bit more adorable.
** Nedrick is both one of the nicest contestants on the show, and one of the dorkiest considering half the time he's trying to become the 'best ninja the world's ever seen'.
** Tempest usually seems to go out of her way to make sure that she doesn't come across as anything other than intimidating and incredibly strong, but in those rare moments where she actually allows herself to open up, we usually see someone so incredibly passionate about everything she's doing while also spouting off some of the most bizarre sayings you'll ever hear, leading to some of the most adorable moments in the series(which usually only get better if Zetsu is involved in any way).
** Speaking of, Zestu had a problem with freaking out easily early on, but these moments slowly become more and more cute with time as he slowly develops into a mixture of both a NiceGuy and TeamDad, and his scenes with Tempest are widely seen as some of the most adorable and memorable scenes of the entire series.

** Cynthia's father restricts her from doing anything without his permission and demands that she always acts like his "perfect little girl". Later on in '''FMTDA''', it's shown just how horribly this has affected Cynthia's psyche as a whole.
** Droog's mother is emotionally abusive and can't stand him in any way, which actually eventually led to him abandoning her and joining the show as an intern(and later contestant). She's also heavily implied to have beaten him before, or forced his brother to do so.

** Hazel's father is a cruel, downright sadistic man who actively belittled and harassed his son in order to try and force him to be whatever he wanted him to be.

** Izaya's father was corrupted by his many business ventures, and later on in life, apparently forced Izaya to actually fight his brother.

** Sylvia's father is a DirtyCop and sexist who belittles his daughter and treats her horribly for little reason other than believing she'll never be able to accomplish anything with her life.

** Hazel's ''massive'' ego and the fact he completely disrespects everyone around him due to believing he's simply better in just about every way always leads to things going horribly for him.
