* ColdBloodedTorture: All he suffered at the hands of Nyarlathotep.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: ''Nobody'' likes him. Eliza has little but distaste for his shallowness, Eliphas Coyte thinks he's a twit and offers Eliza the chance to arrange an 'accident' for him, and as Hardestadt finds out from the vampire Francesca, even other nobles could not ''stand'' him, which nearly got him murdered by Francesca when he managed to insult her carelessly....Stefano however, seems to believe being a noble means he can act however he wants.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Had a reputation as a nice guy, hence why Eliza went to meet him. He was anything but.

* HateSink: For a character with so little screentime, Stefano has absolutely zero redeeming qualities and is loathsome as all out. Not only being a chauvinist who broke his word to Eliza to respect and honor her and her wishes, he treated her like a trophy to show off at the best of times and even worse, subjected her to marital rape she's not over nearly a century later.
* {{Jerkass}}: Stefano treats Eliza like a trophy at ''best'' and Eliza's recollections of him show a much, much crueler side than he revealed in 'The Englishman.'
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Seemed a nice guy at first, revealed as a brainless asshole post Eliza marrying him. Even worse? In ''Sangue'', it's confirmed he was an abusive jackass who exercised a MaritalRapeLicense and Eliza is clearly not over it nearly a century hence.
* LackOfEmpathy: He cares very little for Eliza's discomfort as his wife. Or anything that isn't himself.
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler: Stefano was a scumbag misogynist, even for the time period, and a rapist to boot. He ended up seized by Nyarlathotep and died agonizingly.']] Subverted in that it's made clear this is horrific and excessive, with even his greatest victim being nothing but terrified and repulsed by his sickening fate.
* MaritalRapeLicense: Stefano did not remotely care if Eliza was willing in bed or not, and nearly a century later, she was still badly affected by it.
* {{Narcissist}}: You need him? Just check the mirror. He'll be admiring himself there.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He has a tiny role in The Englishman as Eliza's chauvinistic husband, but his effect on her clearly lingers almost a century later.

* TooDumbToLive: He managed to offend one of the oldest, strongest vampires in Italy which nearly got him killed. Not that he was ''aware'' of this, admittedly, but Stefano is a total idiot and might have assured his own end when he mysteriously vanished. Also, he manages to not stop offending Nyarlathotep when they first met, which only drives home Nyarlathotep's decision to kill him in horrific agony.

* UpperClassTwit: An Italian noble, as blue blood as you can get, and a complete freaking idiot who cares very little for anything not himself or his pleasures.

* GoodIsNotSoft: Humble, timid, and doesn't like killing people unless he has to, but Henri has no mercy whatsoever toward his [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil chosen prey]] and is willing to take ''[[[CombatPragmatist any]]'' measure to defeat his opponents.

* ShrinkingViolet: Noticeably socially awkward around people and admits he's more comfortable "behind the lens". Somewhat understandably, he's even more terrified of human contact in ''Valentine Man'' with the exception of his boss, Vincini, who treats Henri's [[BodyHorror powers]] as a trivial deal.

* YourCheatingHeart: Revealed in ''Children of Valentine'' she had many children by Y'golonac the Defiler when married to the Padre.
