When I heard about a fanmade musical, I was not expecting it to be this good. Just, wow, a lot of effort went into this, from the props to the actors to the song lyrics. Seriously, the soundtrack is amazing. I actually didn't notice they were using other songs until "Poor Unfortunate Test Subjects," and after that I took notice of how naturally the borrowed show tunes fit.
The actors are all quite good. Chell's dialogue just proved to me once and for all that she should've spoken in the game. I didn't notice Chell had two actresses, they look and sound that similar. The guy playing Wheatley can do a pretty darned good impression of Stephen Merchant, and even managed to hold his own when repeating lines from the game. And Cave Johnson, ohhh Cave Johnson was simply amazing. GLaDOS was a little lackluster, but chalk that one up to Ellen Mc Lain blowing the poor girl out of the water when comparing the two.
The only criticism I do have for it is the writing, which occasionally devolves into slapstick for extended scenes. For the most part, it sticks to expanding the story and character relationships, but I had difficulty watching the ten-minute sequence where Wheatley flaunts his new power and forces the other cores to dance for his amusement.
Theatre Surprisingly Good
