Manga Original manga isn't so bad.
At times it's narmy and difficult to follow, and the beginning is uninteresting, but the premise captivated me. However, I didn't like the way that the demons were shown to be in the right when they decided to wage war on humanity - especially as humans had lost their psychic powers and were now pretty much defenceless.
Read this if you like God Is Evil stories, but don't expect greatness.
Manga It ain't perfect but it is not bad
After finally watching the full series, I have to say that I was very well entertained. The story is good, the characters are decent, and the theme of it is well made. I'll admit, when I first watched it- I had a hard time. I grew up in a very religious home so it kind of pressured me whenever someone said "God". However, after a while and watching the subbed version, I got use to it and felt it wasn't that bad. Despite what newcomers might believe, this is not a "pro-Satanist" anime; the idea behind the series is that what we believe are "good & evil" might not be as they seem, with God and Satan being used more as an example than anything else (with the manga mentioning of the Salem witch trials to boot). The anime truly feels like a huge break from the bloody hell that is Devilman and that is pretty much one of its merits. Both the demons and humans are depicted as 80-100% heroic (with a few small exceptions) while the only evil present being "God" itself. I just loved the character of Sosuke Oshiba, he was so cool with his sword and his character-arc was straight up fantastic. He left me on edge thinking "he would have made an interesting ally towards the demons".
The ending is very vague, I have to say. So, in a way, its all left to the audience's interpretation. You just got to watch it for yourself.
So, there you have it- I give the anime 6/10.
