Film Nothing special, but definitely watchable!
I went over the weekend to see the hyped "Dumb and Dumber To."
I will start off saying the movie started a little slow. Mostly because I feel like the first 10-20 minutes were just a longer version of the trailers. The movie, however, never really picked up. There are a few scenes that made me chuckle but for the most part I found the movie to be extremely anticlimactic. It wasn't rememberable like the first Dumb and Dumber, and for that very reason I'm going to struggle getting this review past and estimated 200 word count.
Some positive notes: Well, one positive note: Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels I thought did an awesome job getting into character. There were definitely a few moments where I thought I could have been watching the first movie.
Tl;dr - I'd suggest waiting to stream it and not paying to see it in theaters. You'll leave with a rather "blah" feeling.
Film Honestly, I don't really understand the hate.
So, maybe Dumb and Dumber To differed from its sequel in humor. I definitely noticed that there seemed to be much more vulgarity, and maybe the timing seemed a bit off in the beginning. Harry and Lloyd also seemed a bit more mean spirited. There were some scenes where they did things I couldn't see their original selves doing. Overall, I watched the film and very much enjoyed it. It has its flaws, but even then, I still found it to be a fun and comedic experience in theaters. I loved how they made callbacks to the original film, such as Billy the blind kid and the Mutt Cuts van. I could ultimately see Lloyd playing a trick out for 20 whole years, and I liked the clever humor. It was also a pleasant surprise on how they modernized an older concept and DID NOT USE POP CULTURE REFERENCES. And yes, I found Adele to be kinda strange with her foot fetish and all, but overall, I believe it was a decent comedy film. I will be buying the DVD.
