AudioPlay Good fun for everyone!
Ok, let's start by saying that I've heard of people who have never watched Doctor Who, or people who haven't watched Fi M and have liked this series. And that's because it's good. The humor is enjoyable, especially if you like a giddy and excited doctor. So far a lot of humor comes from the Doc discovering aspects of ponyhood, so I don't know how long the series can stay fresh with those jokes, but so far they're going good. On the negative side, I find the sound effects rather...cartoon-y. They're stock effects and almost seem to drag to sense of the series down. Also bad are mic qualities. There are a lot of moments when the Doc seems to mumble and it's hard to hear, only for him to start yelling a minute later, creating the opposite problem, when his mic can't handle the sound.
But all in all, it's still a really enjoyable series, and I look forward to future episodes!
AudioPlay Brony Whovians rejoice!
Having become a brony and finally getting around to watching Doctor Who (after first seeing "Rose" years ago) this was a treat to discover.
There are a few things that make this series great. First and foremost is the clever writing and the excellent voice acting of both lead characters. The Doctor retains his vast knowledge and heroism but is sometimes clueless about the intricacies of how Equestria and it's colorful inhabitants work. Ditzy (props for actually calling her that) is an adorable sidekick and companion! She's not stupid, in fact, Ditzy often snarks at the Doctor's unfamiliarity with ponies, but she's innocently scatter brained just enough for her fanon personality to fit. All of this is conveyed through the two voice actor's performance!
Next, it tries to coexist with the canon rather than create it's own. This let's the two creators use the show's events and put their own spin on them without it contradicting or undermining what the Mane Six do. It also avoids the tendency of these crossovers to make Equestria darker with the inclusion of the Doctor's influence. It treats the alien invasions the same way MLP treats terrestrial monsters. They're threats that need to be stopped but they never do lasting damage, while actually stopping them is epic enough to satisfy.
Lastly, it's a good crossover. They're not easy to pull off, especially if the separate series are very dissimilar, but the elements of both series are blended and referenced well! Episode 4 starts with a sing along and funny dialogue; the Doctor being clearly out of his element as Ditzy coaches him along. Then it easily shifts to the Doctor saving the day while giving an epic speech and it's Ditzy's turn to be at a loss (like most of the Doctor's companions.)
If you're a fan of either franchise it's great. If you're a fan of both, like me, it's 20% more Fan-tas-tic!
